    Compassionate care with occasional lapses

I have a loved one here and overall I'm grateful - the staff are warm, caring and professional, therapy is excellent, rooms are clean, and it genuinely feels like family. Administration, social work and nursing leadership have been very helpful and usually keep me informed. However, I've seen inconsistent nursing coverage, high turnover, slow phone responses at times, and occasional lapses in personal care; food and activities are hit-or-miss. There have been rare serious concerns (missing items, hygiene issues), so stay involved and know the chain of command. All that said, I highly recommend this place for the high level of compassion and clinical care, with the caveat to monitor your loved one.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews for PruittHealth - Seaside is mixed but leans positive when care is delivered by the facility's strongest staff. A recurring theme is the presence of highly compassionate, skilled, and dedicated employees — particularly within therapy, certain nurses, CNAs, social services, and administrative teams. Multiple reviewers singled out physical therapy as top-notch and credited the therapy team with meaningful recovery and the potential for early discharge. Social services and admissions were also praised for being helpful, smoothly handling Medicaid, and providing family-focused support. Many families report feeling welcomed, safe, and that their loved ones were treated with dignity and kindness; words like "family," "angels," and "home-like" appear frequently in the favorable accounts.

Facility conditions are often described as very clean, bright, and peaceful. Several reviewers complimented the environment, noting an overall sense of calm, cleanliness, and a warm reception from front-desk and administrative staff. When the care team is consistent and communicative, reviewers say they have peace of mind and would strongly recommend the facility. Specific staff members were praised by name in multiple summaries, and transitions in administration were noted as seamless in some accounts — contributing to positive experiences.

However, there is a clear and consistent pattern of variability in care quality. Many reviews contrast exemplary individuals or teams with uneven performance across shifts and units. Reported problems include understaffing, perceived shortages of experienced nurses (including a call for more charge RNs), and unreliable responsiveness — especially via phone lines and during night shifts. Several reviewers advised families to check on loved ones frequently and to know the chain of command because communication and follow-up can be slow or inconsistent. This inconsistency manifests in lapses in basic hygiene and incontinence care (residents described as "soaked" or not consistently cleaned), missed or delayed phone responses, and reports of rude or unhelpful staff in some cases.

There are also significant clinical and safety concerns raised by multiple reviewers that require attention. Several accounts describe ongoing UTIs and the presence of a permanent Foley catheter; hydration issues for visually impaired residents were noted, and one review described a near-fatal diabetic crisis and concerns about overall clinical safety. Such reports indicate potential gaps in monitoring, infection control, and clinical oversight for higher-risk residents. These are serious themes that contrast sharply with other reviewers' praise for clinical teams and should prompt families to ask direct questions about nursing ratios, infection control procedures, and oversight protocols when considering placement.

Other operational concerns include inconsistent food quality (some call the food "wonderful," while others call it "awful" or mediocre), occasional bad odors reported by visitors, and high turnover among activities staff resulting in variable programming. There are also troubling allegations of missing personal items, including jewelry, which a few reviewers reported as theft — an issue that can deeply undermine trust and should be investigated by prospective families. Management behavior is described as inconsistent by some reviewers: while some cite exemplary leadership and responsiveness, others report perceived insincerity or dismissive attitudes.

In summary, PruittHealth - Seaside demonstrates many strengths — notably excellent rehabilitation services, several compassionate and skilled caregivers, a family-like culture in many units, and clean, welcoming facilities. At the same time, there is a meaningful and recurrent set of negative themes centered on staffing consistency, clinical safety for high-acuity residents, responsiveness/communication failures, hygiene lapses, and some troubling reports of missing items. For families considering this facility, the reviews suggest it can provide outstanding care when placed with engaged, competent staff, but outcomes appear highly dependent on staffing consistency and clinical oversight. Prospective residents and families should tour the unit(s) of interest, ask about nurse-to-resident ratios and charge RN coverage, inquire specifically about infection control and catheter management, clarify night staffing and communications protocols, confirm how the facility handles valuables, and establish a clear communication plan with social services and therapy teams. Daily check-ins and knowing the chain of command were commonly recommended by reviewers to ensure concerns are promptly addressed.

PruittHealth - Seaside provides long-term skilled nursing care that meets Medicare and Medicaid requirements, and the staff there, including physicians and nurses, are around 24 hours a day to supervise residents and offer help with things like bathing, dressing, eating, and getting around, and there's medication management, so nobody has to worry about missing a dose, and The Preston Health Center-a 62-bed Medicare-certified unit-serves those with skilled medical needs. The facility can care for people after surgeries, during illnesses, or with ongoing health problems, and there are a total of 101 certified beds for residents, so folks who need nursing home help, memory care support, or rehabilitation therapies can all get what they need in one place, whether it's for a short recovery or a longer stay. PruittHealth - Seaside sticks to a 24-hour call system in case anyone ever needs help right away and always follows a nursing care plan running 12-16 hours a day for residents who need extra supervision. The place also offers Home First, pharmacy, infusion, and medical supply services, and works hard to keep up with the latest technology and health care practices, while making folks feel welcome with move-in coordination and support for those with limited mobility, so even if somebody comes in for short-term rehab, long-term care, or specialized memory support, they're in good hands and get cared for in a setting focused on comfort, safety, and community health.
