    Home-like facility with staffing inconsistencies

I live here and love the beautiful, home-like facility - clean, safe, spacious rooms, lovely landscaping, great activities/outings, attentive maintenance, and many genuinely caring staff. That said, staffing is inconsistent (frequent turnover), communication with families can be poor, and I've experienced rude or abrupt staff and disappointing dining/service at times. Overall I'd recommend it for the caring atmosphere and programs, but go in aware of the staffing and dining inconsistencies and limited private outdoor space.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans strongly positive in core areas of care, atmosphere, and setting, with recurring operational concerns primarily around staffing and communication. Many reviewers emphasize Sunabella Senior Living as a beautiful, clean, and well-landscaped community that offers condo-style, independent living units with a home-like, non-institutional feel. Several accounts describe the facility as safe and comfortable for recuperation and family connections, even crediting staff and management with life-saving interventions and reunions with long-lost relatives. The physical environment and maintenance are frequently praised: spacious rooms, garden access, attractive common areas, and fast maintenance responses are common highlights.

Care quality and staff attitudes are central themes. A substantial number of reviews describe staff as caring, attentive, and compassionate, with many consumers saying the team makes residents feel at home. Management is often described as informative and approachable, and specific clinical strengths are noted, including outstanding medication administration and attentive monitoring of residents. Positive anecdotes include successful recuperations, feel-good reunions, and gratitude expressed by families — all suggesting the facility delivers strong hands-on care for many residents.

However, a significant and recurring negative pattern relates to staffing instability and customer service. Multiple reviewers complain of high staff turnover, reporting new staff every few weeks and the loss or demotion of experienced employees who were valued by families. This churn appears to contribute to inconsistent experiences: while some guests praise the kitchen and dining, others report poor dinner quality and describe the dining experience as unsatisfactory. There are also direct reports of rude or unfriendly interactions, including negative first impressions such as no greeting or abrupt phone hang-ups. A few reviews name specific employees in complaints, indicating isolated but notable incidents of poor behavior that affected perceptions.

Activities and community life receive mixed feedback. Many reviewers celebrate a robust activities program with weekly outings, lunches, shopping trips, and social events that represent retirement living at its finest. Conversely, other reviewers claim there are few or no activities, and at least one structural issue — the two-building setup — is cited as a logistical barrier that causes residents to miss events. This suggests variability in program delivery or communication about offerings, possibly tied to staffing and scheduling challenges.

Management and communication are another dual theme. Several reviews portray management as responsive, approachable, and helpful in making life easier for residents and families. In contrast, others describe poor communication, unfriendly staff interactions, and the feeling that leadership decisions (such as staff reassignments or demotions) have negatively impacted continuity of care. These conflicting reports point to pockets of strong leadership coupled with operational weaknesses in consistency and customer-facing service.

In summary, Sunabella Senior Living appears to offer a very attractive physical environment and solid clinical care for many residents, underpinned by staff who are frequently described as kind, professional, and life-saving. The most notable areas for improvement are staffing stability, consistency of customer service, dining reliability, and coordination across the two-building layout so residents do not miss activities. Prospective residents and families should weigh the many positive accounts of care, safety, and community life against repeated reports of turnover and occasional poor interactions; a focused conversation with management about current staffing stability, dining menus, activity schedules, and communication protocols would help set expectations before deciding.
