    Caring, professional memory care recommended

I placed my loved one here and have been very happy with the caring, well-trained staff-especially in memory care-who kept our family informed with photos and updates and treated him like family. The facility is clean, home-like with spacious rooms, lovely grounds and easy outdoor access, good meals and engaging activities. Management is responsive and professional; overall a compassionate, competent place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews paint DeSano Place Village as a facility with consistently strong strengths in caregiving, hospitality, and a family-oriented culture. Many accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive staff and a high staff-to-resident ratio that support individualized care — including specialized dementia training in the memory-care unit. Management and owner involvement are repeatedly noted, and families frequently describe transparent communication channels, photo/video updates, and personalized care plans.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme is positive staff performance. Caregivers and nurses are described as caring, competent, and professional; several comments single out individual staff members for exceptional treatment of residents. The memory-care team is characterized as knowledgeable and respectful of dementia needs. At the same time, there are isolated concerns about variable interpersonal conduct and occasional delays in attending to basic personal-care tasks. These indicate inconsistency in frontline responsiveness and tone rather than a systemic absence of skill.

Dining and activities: Dining is consistently cited as a strength — meals and desserts were described as enjoyable, with an emphasis on good diet and attention to detail. Activities programming appears well-structured, with predictable schedules, peer interaction, games, walks, and regular family events that contribute to a home-like routine. Outdoor access and on-site walks are frequently mentioned as positive quality-of-life features.

Facilities and operations: The property and interior spaces are reported as clean, well-maintained, and welcoming, with attractive grounds and spacious, accessible rooms. Common areas, a cheerful house atmosphere, and a safe environment are recurrent positives. Operationally, reviewers note active owner/management presence and generally good communication, though there are operational gaps such as limited weekend maintenance coverage and occasional discontinuities during care transitions.

Management, communication and patterns of concern: Management is generally viewed as responsive and engaged; many families feel informed and supported. However, a pattern of restrictive visitation policies and at least one complaint about family-facing interactions suggests that communication tone and visitation flexibility can vary. Another recurring operational theme involves incontinence-care practices; some families felt that options for dignity-preserving, individualized approaches were limited. These areas suggest opportunities for policy refinement and staff coaching to ensure consistent timeliness, interpersonal tone, and person-centered incontinence care.

Bottom line: DeSano Place Village is presented as a largely positive option for assisted living and memory care, with notable strengths in staffing, training, dining, activities, and facility upkeep. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against occasional operational concerns — especially around visitation flexibility, consistency of basic personal-care responsiveness, weekend support services, and individualized incontinence-care options — and discuss these topics directly with management during tours and admissions conversations.

    About DeSano Place Village

DeSano Place Village - Assisted Living & Memory Care sits in Jerome, Idaho, and people know it for offering both assisted living and specialized memory care for older adults, so you've got a place where people who need help with daily life or who have Alzheimer's or other memory conditions can live. The facility has 32 beds spread out in bright, comfortable apartments on the ground floor, and the rooms come with air conditioning, closets, carpet, phones, and windows that let in natural light. People use Wi-Fi all around the building, and most parts are easy for wheelchairs to access, including showers. They've got safety in mind, because there's an emergency alert system in each apartment, safety features for memory care, and staff on duty 24 hours a day, with someone to help on weekends and holidays too. The place meets all state licensing and safety rules, has nurse oversight, and offers skilled nursing services in-house, and the staff can help with bathing, dressing, medication management, mobility support, diabetic care, falls management, and incontinence care. Meals are made fresh with menu choices for special diets like gluten-free, low sodium, no sugar, vegetarian, or vegan.

People living at DeSano Place Village can enjoy regular haircuts and barber services, a garden, outdoor patios, walking paths, and both indoor and outdoor gathering spaces where you'll find social activities, games, movie nights, and a resident-run activities program so people can stay engaged. There's an arts room, dining room with all-day service, and areas set aside for families to visit, and family or friends are welcome to join residents for meals. They allow some pets too. Housekeeping and laundry happen routinely, and there's transportation available and parking for people who still drive. Memory care is tailored for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, so care plans take each person's history and needs into account, and there's a focus on supporting residents' dignity, health, and independence, with attention given to their social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Nurses communicate closely with doctors and families, keep an eye out for changes in health or behavior, and update plans if needed. Staff members undergo training in behavior management and provide help with a sense of patience and care, and you'll often see that the same approach continues across the adult day care and respite care options too, like at the other DeSano Place locations in Gooding and Jerome.

Everything at DeSano Place Village is meant to keep older adults as independent and safe as possible, whether they're there for a bit of extra help or need round-the-clock support with memory loss. The facility fits people who like familiar routines, want to feel secure, and value being treated as a person with unique needs, so it's not a fancy place but one that focuses on comfort, safety, and dependable care from staff who know what they're doing.
