    Attentive compassionate staff, clean facility

I placed my mother-in-law at the Cedar location and am very pleased. The caregivers, Juanita the administrator/house manager, and staff are attentive, compassionate, and responsive-keeping us updated (including FaceTime), helping with the move, and guiding us through assistance programs. The home-like, exceptionally clean facility provides excellent dementia/memory care and real peace of mind for our family; I recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression from reviewers is broadly positive with recurrent praise for the facility’s dementia-focused care and a genuinely home-like atmosphere. Many families emphasize compassionate, resident-centered attention and strong communication practices: staff and administrators are described as attentive, willing to update families on health status, and proactive in using tools like FaceTime to maintain family contact. The facility’s environment is consistently characterized as clean, well-maintained, and organized around communal spaces that encourage socialization.

Care quality for residents with cognitive impairment is a clear strength in the reviews. Commenters highlight staff familiarity with Alzheimer’s and dementia needs, continual observation in common areas, and a general willingness to go beyond routine duties to support resident well-being. Several families cited helpful administrative support during placement and transition — assistance moving belongings, help navigating assistance programs, and a straightforward admission process were all mentioned positively. There are multiple mentions of a particular administrator who has improved stability and family communication; reviewers depict management as engaged and accessible.

However, reviewers also describe operational weaknesses that prospective families should consider. Staffing patterns emerge as the principal concern: accounts indicate periods of understaffing, turnover, and variable coverage across shifts. Those patterns have been associated with inconsistent training and occasional lapses in responsiveness. Some reviewers expressed that activity programming could be limited or inconsistent, with fewer structured options than expected for memory-care residents. A small number of accounts raised concerns about privacy and dignity safeguards for certain residents, and others described gaps in how incidents were handled and communicated to families.

Facilities and daily life show mixed signals: while the physical environment and cleanliness receive consistent praise, the quality of care experience can vary depending on staffing levels and the specific team on duty. Dining and meal-service were not frequently discussed in the reviews provided, so no clear pattern emerged there; prospective families should request current menus and sample meal-service practices during a tour. Activities-wise, communal areas and staff encouragement of interaction are strengths, but families should ask for a detailed activities calendar and staffing ratios during peak social times.

In summary, this memory-care community presents strong dementia-specific care, an inviting home-like environment, and engaged administration with good family communication. At the same time, operational issues tied to staffing stability, training consistency, activity programming, and incident follow-up are areas to investigate further. Prospective residents and families would be well advised to tour during multiple shifts, review staffing ratios and training credentials, request the activity schedule, and ask about incident-reporting and family-notification procedures before making a placement decision.

    About Ashley Manor Memory Care

Ashley Manor Memory Care, with several locations including Ashley Manor Cedar in Pocatello, Idaho, offers care and support for people living with memory loss, Alzheimer's, or other forms of dementia, and they also have a spot in Meridian. Residents live in small, home-like settings with private or semi-private suites, where they can bring personal belongings and decorate their rooms how they like. The facility focuses on routine and a warm, family feeling, while staff trained in dementia care provide help twenty-four hours a day, including nursing support on call and assistance with all daily tasks, medication, and even oxygen. People who live here get three home-cooked meals daily, snacks, and specialized diets if needed, while support for health covers areas like wound care, podiatry, medication management, high acuity needs, behavior and incontinence care, hospice, and home health. They offer a secure living space with alarm systems, locked backyards with walking paths, patios, and safety equipment like sprinkler systems, so residents who have trouble remembering things can move about safely. Everybody can join in activities that encourage thinking and socializing, with memory-enhancing games, sensory and therapy options such as aroma therapy, music, light, and reminiscence therapies, and there are always both group and personal programs happening, some aimed specifically at people with dementia or Alzheimer's. Family involvement is encouraged with newsletters, support groups, and resources from the Alzheimer's Association, and the house manager has a reputation for staying in touch with families. Pets are allowed, and residents can expect laundry, housekeeping, fitness, games, arts and crafts, WiFi, and kitchenettes, with help for transportation as needed. Staff work with families to write personalized care plans so every resident gets attention that matches their habits, health, and wishes, and they also offer respite care when caregivers at home need a break. People talk about a comfortable setting that's calm and secure, where dignity and independence matter and the focus remains on enhancing life for those who can no longer remember as well as they used to, though online reviews show a range of experiences with an average rating of about 4.56 for some sites, with a few reports closer to 3.0 stars at others. A tour can be set up to visit in person, and the Ashley Manor team provides clear info on different care levels, move-in details, and available services, while the Cedar location stands out for its dedicated memory care programming right in the heart of Pocatello.
