    Warm attentive staff, excellent dining

I moved my mom in and have been very pleased. The staff are warm, attentive, and know residents by name-communication has been excellent (Bailey especially helpful) and responses are prompt. The studio was clean, well-furnished, and came with a welcoming basket; dining is excellent (compliments to the chef) and there are abundant daily activities, live music, transportation, and on-site therapy. Renovations give a fresh, home-like feel and the community is caring and safe-I recommend touring to see it for yourself.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Saxony Court Senior Living presents as a community with strong interpersonal strengths and a broad menu of resident services. Review content consistently highlights attentive, personable direct-care staff and a robust therapy team; families and residents frequently describe nursing and CNA staff as compassionate and competent, and identify case managers, physical therapy, and nutrition services as active contributors to rehabilitation and care planning. The campus offers a mix of independent, assisted, and skilled nursing services on a single site, which many reviewers cited as convenient for transitions of care.

Care and staff: The facility's strengths center on staff engagement. Reviewers emphasize staff who remember residents’ names, frequent check-ins from caregivers, and an active Life Enrichment leadership that organizes varied programming. On-site rehab services are described as high quality, and several accounts reference positive outcomes from therapy. At the same time, reviews surface operational concerns that affect clinical reliability: there are recurring descriptions of medication-administration and monitoring weaknesses, delays responding to call-for-assistance, and limited overnight staffing coverage. Families also point to inconsistencies in care coordination and occasional gaps in follow-up communication from administration.

Dining and activities: Dining is a frequent positive: restaurant-style service, a praised chef, multiple entrée choices, and welcoming dining rooms appear across accounts. Activities programming is broad and active — daytime games, bingo, live entertainment, church services, movie nights, and special events are regularly mentioned — and the Life Enrichment team is credited with enthusiastic, organized offerings. A minority of comments note variable encouragement for residents to participate and occasional issues with meal timing or temperature, which may affect residents with specific dietary or mobility needs.

Facilities and accommodations: The campus receives positive comments for clean, well-decorated common areas, apartment-style units, theater and social spaces, and responsive maintenance. Many reviews note recent renovations and ongoing improvements under new ownership. Conversely, several reviewers describe dated or worn features in some living quarters, uneven housekeeping consistency, and accessibility challenges for residents who have difficulty reaching communal dining or activity areas — a concern exacerbated by the property's multi-level layout and current construction activity.

Management and operational patterns: Management responsiveness is described in mixed terms. Some families report helpful, solution-oriented leadership and visible improvements under new ownership; others cite inconsistent administrative communication, an admissions/documentation process that was not adequately explained, and occasional lack of transparency. Operational vulnerabilities include constrained choice for third-party in-home care providers, cost and maintenance considerations for personal alert systems, and allegations of staff-related property loss that raise questions about loss-prevention practices. Ongoing renovation work also appears to have produced interim disruption to operations and resident routines.

Notable patterns and guidance: The strongest, consistent positives are staff engagement, on-site rehabilitative services, varied activities, and generally good dining. The recurring operational concerns — medication management, response times, administrative communication, and security/housekeeping consistency — are the principal areas potential residents and families should review in person. Prospective families would benefit from a focused tour that evaluates unit maintenance, accessibility to dining and activities for those with mobility limitations, documentation and admissions clarity, emergency-response procedures, and specific questions about medication oversight, staffing levels (including nights), and loss-prevention protocols.

    About Saxony Court Senior Living

Saxony Court Senior Living sits in East Peoria, Illinois, up on a hillside with river and courtyard views, and you'll find it's connected with the Accolade Healthcare of East Peoria campus, so there are several care levels all in one spot, from independent living to assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, which means older adults can move between different types of care as their needs change over time, which a lot of people find helpful. The community offers studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and even two-bedroom suite apartments, some with patio access, and many rooms look out over the Illinois River or the quiet courtyards, so it feels pretty peaceful, and you can bring pets because the place is pet-friendly, which matters to a lot of folks.

The staff is friendly and fully trained and there's an in-house physician and nurse practitioner, so residents get help with everything from wound care and medication management to IV therapy and diabetes care, along with support for everyday things like dressing, bathing, and keeping up with medicine, plus memory care for those living with dementia, and there are hospice and respite services too, including short-term stays after surgery or injury, so there's always someone around to help. The independent living side is designed for active seniors who don't need daily help, where the focus is on maintenance-free apartments and a social setting, and then the assisted living part lets people have their own space while getting help with whatever's become harder lately.

You'll see that Saxony Court tries to keep life steady and comfortable, with meals cooked by a professional chef, beauty and barber services onsite, devotional gatherings, and regular activities both inside and out, and they even do therapy services like rehab-to-home for those recovering from a hospital stay; in fact, the outpatient therapy comes with free rides for appointments. Residents can personalize and decorate their suites, so it feels more like home, and there are aging-in-place and pet-friendly policies that let people keep living there even as needs change, which can be a comfort. There's a waitlist for new residents but it isn't full right now.

The community has wheelchair accessible showers, parking for residents, some remodeled apartments with style, carports for rent, and big common areas for activities or just catching up with neighbors, so there's always somewhere to go or something to do. Memory care programs aim to reduce confusion and prevent wandering for those who need it, and the structured calendars of social, educational, and entertainment events help everyone stay busy and make friends. Smoking isn't allowed anywhere inside, and both men and women live here. Saxony Court Senior Living focuses on making its residents feel safe, respected, and comfortable in a pretty setting, offering everything from skilled nursing and therapies to simple, flexible living arrangements that can change as life does.
