    Compassionate caring community with activities

I'm very happy my mother lives here - compassionate, attentive and friendly staff, bright clean rooms, excellent meals, and lots of activities (The Dragonfly restaurant, library, pool/aqua aerobics, music and outings). On-site memory care, independent living and continuing care make it a comfortable, welcoming choice for families.

    Summary of reviews

Three Crowns Park receives consistent praise for its warm, resident-focused culture and the breadth of services available on-site. Reviewers highlight compassionate, attentive caregiving and a welcoming front-desk and nursing presence. The community offers a true continuum of care — independent living through memory care and nursing — supplemented by on-site medical services. Physical spaces are frequently described as clean, bright, and well maintained, with private apartment options, a library, meeting rooms, a craft room, easy parking, and an on-site restaurant enhancing daily life.

Dining and programming are standout features. Families and residents describe varied, appealing meal options served in a bright dining room, plus special events and restaurant-style offerings. Activity programming is robust and well-staffed: recreation therapists, tailored group activities, park outings, evening music, and aquatic programming (pool and aqua aerobics) are commonly noted. These offerings contribute to a lively community atmosphere and frequent family engagement at social events.

Care quality is generally viewed positively, with many reviewers expressing satisfaction with staff professionalism and the facility’s ability to support residents’ needs. At the same time, a number of operational concerns appear across reviews. These include inconsistent responsiveness to some personal-care and hygiene needs and gaps in staff follow-through and escalation when issues arise. There are also mentions of communication shortfalls that leave families needing to advocate for residents more actively. A small number of reviewers raised allegations of inappropriate medication practices and expressed broader concerns about staff conduct and resident safety; while these appear to be isolated in scope relative to the overall positive commentary, they represent high-severity items that families should consider and investigate.

Management and cost are additional areas to weigh. The facility is described as well-managed and professional in many interactions, yet reviewers also flagged occasional tone issues — including instances of ageist language — and variability in experience depending on unit or staff on duty. The community is perceived as relatively expensive, so prospective residents and families should compare services, staffing levels, and contract terms. For prospective residents, recommended topics to explore during a visit include medication oversight and nighttime staffing, personal-care routines and monitoring, family communication protocols, and how the community handles escalation and follow-up on resident concerns.

    About Three Crowns Park

Three Crowns Park, set on a seven-acre tree-lined campus in Evanston, IL, gives residents aged 62 and better access to Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Nursing Care, and Respite Care. The community's been serving seniors since 1894, so it's had a lot of time to refine its services, and it's run by a non-profit group, which many find reassuring. Three Crowns Park's Life Plan community model means residents can move through different levels of care without needing to leave the campus, and there's a Life Care program for financial security.

Residents have a choice of spacious, contemporary one- and two-bedroom apartments and newly renovated studios, with features like step-in showers, ample closet space, tea kitchens, window treatments, individually controlled heat and air, and a 24-hour emergency response call system. Some buildings, like Landstrom Manor, have secured entry. Memory care takes place in Colfax House, a specially designed center with secure private gardens, large private suites, family-style living rooms, and daily routines to support independence, all delivered by specialty trained nurses and household assistants.

Three Crowns Park has a full range of amenities: an indoor heated pool, health and fitness center, walking paths, outdoor gardens, an arts and crafts room, business center, café, fine arts studio, cards and game rooms, and a home theater with comfortable seats and surround sound. Social life centers around community-sponsored activities, movie nights, educational events, and cultural programs. Residents can relax at the salon and spa, visit the barber, enjoy pet-friendly policies, or use the postal mailbox and underground parking.

Dining includes venues like the Everyday Cafe', Dragonfly Fine Dining, and The Prince & Frog Pub inside McDaniel Courts. There are flexible meal plans, all-day dining, fine dining, and dietary accommodations for allergies or diabetes, with three nutritious meals served daily and snacks available, especially for residents of Landstrom Manor and Colfax House, where meals are often prepared in a household kitchen.

Staff offer help with bathing, dressing, grooming, medication management and distribution, toileting, transfer assistance, and laundry. There's regular housekeeping, linen service, household maintenance, and utilities (except phone and cable/Internet) included for many levels of care. Residents living with dementia or Alzheimer's get specialized attention through secured memory care units, structured daily activities, and tailored support from experienced staff.

Residents can join fitness programs, community outings, and social events. Scheduled transportation is available for shopping, banking, outings, and appointments, and parking's available underground. The community takes Medicare for health insurance coverage, and as of June 2025, 25 of 34 certified beds for nursing care are available.

Three Crowns Park offers an inviting, safe setting where people can enjoy an independent lifestyle or get extra help as their needs change, all surrounded by experienced and long-serving staff who focus on health, safety, and giving residents a sense of community and comfort.
