    Compassionate, clean community with amenities

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased - the staff are experienced, attentive and genuinely caring with on-site medical support and responsive management. The facility is beautiful and clean, apartments are spacious, meals are tasty, and activities (arts & crafts, live music, outings) keep residents engaged. I'd recommend this community for families wanting professional, compassionate care and lots of amenities.

    Summary of reviews

New Perspective Senior Living - Long Grove presents a mixture of notable strengths and recurring operational concerns. Strengths that appear consistently include a warm, resident-focused caregiving culture and a clinical team that includes on-site nursing and therapy services. Many families describe caregivers and nurses as attentive and compassionate, with therapists and nursing supervisors cited by name in positive accounts. The facility's physical environment is often praised: a boutique, hotel-like presentation, comfortable apartments, private dining rooms, a pleasant patio and attractive landscaping contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. Maintenance and housekeeping receive positive remarks in many accounts, as do efficient move-in and admission processes.

Dining and activities are clear selling points for many residents. Multiple accounts highlight restaurant-quality meals, varied menus, and appealing presentation; at the same time the activities program—arts and crafts, live music, games, bingo, and offsite trips—generates strong resident engagement and a lively social calendar. Transportation services for errands and lunches and frequent family-oriented events are additional positives that support socialization and family involvement. Several reviewers also noted effective hospice coordination and individualized end-of-life support.

Counterbalancing those strengths are operational patterns that prospective residents and families should investigate. Staffing instability and turnover are recurring themes that can affect continuity of care, activity delivery, and resident experience. Some families described sanitation and odor concerns localized to particular areas, which suggests inconsistency in housekeeping or incontinence-care processes. Multiple accounts raise concerns about delays in responding to pendant calls and about variability in medication administration timing; both are service-quality items that relate directly to resident safety and well-being. Additionally, there are reports of gaps in security and access-control procedures and instances of uneven follow-through from leadership and corporate management, particularly during ownership or management transitions.

Dining quality and consistency appear mixed: while many praise the dining program, other families describe declines in food quality, menu deviations from expectations, or nutrition concerns associated with processed items. Activity programming and transportation reliability also vary across accounts—promised outings and all-day activities are sometimes not delivered as expected. Finally, there are isolated but notable complaints about contractual or billing disputes and uneven family communication or escalation pathways, which have in some cases led to unresolved concerns with corporate staff.

Overall, this community offers many of the amenities and a caregiving culture that families seek—good clinical presence, engaging activities, and a well-appointed environment—while exhibiting operational inconsistencies that merit direct inquiry. Prospective residents should tour the community, observe dining and activities in person, and ask specific questions about current staffing levels and turnover, call-response times and pendant protocols, medication-administration procedures, security and access controls, recent ownership or leadership changes, and contractual terms and billing policies. Those steps will help families weigh the facility's evident strengths against the operational risks described above.

About New Perspective Senior Living - Long Grove

New Perspective Senior Living | Long Grove stands on nearly 10 acres of woods off IL Route 53, tucked away in a quiet part of Long Grove, Illinois, where tall trees and green spaces line the grounds, so folks who like a peaceful, nature-filled setting might feel right at home there, and the residence ends up feeling private with its two stories and well-kept spaces, but it's also lively with plenty of spots for people to visit like a big patio for getting sunshine, a cafe where friends gather, a movie theater, a craft room, bistro, sunroom, great room, chapel, and even a duck pond and vegetable garden for those who want to get outside and try gardening or feed the ducks. The setup includes independent living, assisted living, and memory care, so residents have lots of care choices, and everything from everyday help with bathing, dressing, and medication in assisted living to therapies and extra safety measures like a fall detection system called Safely You for those facing memory loss. The staff stays onsite, with a nurse around all day and all night and therapy partners like FOX Rehab for occupational and physical therapy right in the building, so help is nearby. Folks can choose between studio and one-bedroom apartments, most of which come with washers and dryers, and the place welcomes pets, so bringing a pet along isn't a problem either, which cheers up a lot of people. Meals come from a chef and kitchen team that cooks food from scratch every day, with plenty of options for every taste and lots of fresh choices, and meals are served in a bright dining room so everyone can gather, talk, and enjoy company; plus there's always coffee or a snack at the bistro cafe. Residents don't need to worry about chores because the staff takes care of housekeeping and laundry, and there's regular transportation for trips or errands. The activities cover everything from card games, gardening, happy hours, and religious services to movie nights and fitness classes in a real fitness center, and the calendar keeps folks busy and engaged. The community, which calls itself "Good times with good friends," tries to bring people together in a friendly setting, so no one feels alone, and programs like LifeLoop make it easy to stay in touch or join an event. The memory care program includes special support for people with dementia, offering safe spaces, activities that encourage thinking, and the kind of monitoring that helps families breathe easier, all while keeping residents' dignity and comfort in mind. The place works with Curana Health for on-site doctors and preventative care, and the facility focuses on letting folks remain active and independent while handling all the harder parts of life like maintenance or medical worries, and every room, activity, or service aims to make senior living less stressful, more enjoyable, and connected. Residents can schedule a tour, grab a meal in the dining hall, or meet a friend in the cafe to get a sense for the community, and staff members welcome everyone warmly, making sure there's always help when anyone needs it.
