    Caring staff, home-like, pricey, inconsistent

I moved my mom here and I'm grateful - the staff are kind, professional and truly caring, the place is clean, warm and home-like with lovely grounds, plenty of activities, and dining staff who even knew her name. The downsides: meals can be hit-or-miss, it's pricey, and there were occasional staffing/safety and management follow-up issues to watch for. Overall I'd recommend Sunrise of Naperville for excellent, compassionate care and a welcoming community, but go in aware of cost and potential operational rough spots.

    About Sunrise of Naperville

Sunrise of Naperville sits at 960 E Chicago Ave in Naperville, IL, right in the 60540 area, and has offered different types of senior care for over 40 years through the Sunrise Senior Living brand, and the place backs up their long history with well-trained, caring staff who focus on helping residents stay as active and independent as possible, with a nice habit of making sure the day is filled with easy-going, structured activities and programs so folks don't feel left out or bored. You'll notice their units come with private rooms and bathrooms, kitchenettes, and 24-hour nurse coverage, plus emergency call systems in case someone needs help; they have indoor parking, resident parking, and stroller-friendly showers along with wheelchair-accessible showers. For memory care, they offer specialized services through the Reminiscence Program and Terrace Club, with personalized care, a secure section, and activities built around cognitive health for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia, plus there are support groups for family members, too. Assisted living here gives people help with the basics-bathing, dressing, medication, and the like-plus meals cooked with fresh ingredients in a restaurant-style dining room, and if someone isn't ready to settle in long-term, respite care can be arranged for short stays while recovering, with options for daily, weekly, or monthly help.

The building, established in 2001 and surrounded by landscaped grounds near neighborhoods like Moser Highlands, includes indoor and outdoor common areas-there's a residents' lounge, courtyard, library, walking paths, an activity room, and a bistro, so people can pick how they want to spend the afternoon, and the on-site beautician and pet-friendly attitude help brighten up the routine. Activity offerings go from onsite programs to offsite trips, plus devotional services if you want to connect spiritually, and for those preferring a meatless option, vegetarian meals are available. The team provides skilled nursing, hospice care, respite care, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and even home health services, so a person can move through different care levels as needs change, and the Continuing Care Retirement Community approach means a resident can stay in one campus if care expectations go up later on.

Transportation is available for a fee, with the added convenience of being near bus lines, although you'll want to know the walk and transit scores are on the low side, meaning most errands require a car or help with travel. Housekeeping and laundry or dry-cleaning services are standard, internet and Wi-Fi are available, and you can expect privacy similar to living at home. They're mindful about financing, offering guidance on using long-term care insurance, personal assets or a house sale, and even information about veterans' benefits to manage costs. Sunrise of Naperville likes to keep things transparent, so families can look up more details online, and there are plenty of resources to help folks plan out what kind of care suits best. The mission to "Champion the Life for all seniors" shows in their varied care types-independent living for social, hassle-free days, memory care for specialized help, assisted living for daily support, and skilled nursing or hospice care for higher needs-making this a community for many different situations, and though the building sits in a car-dependent area with some public transit and access to schools like Prairie Elementary and Naperville North High, the most important part is the steady, compassionate support residents get every day.
