    Small family-like home, loving staff

I placed my sister here and feel blessed - it's a small, family-like home that serves residents with Down syndrome and Alzheimer's. The staff are loving, attentive, and low-turnover; they go above and beyond with excellent communication and daily care updates, effective rehab, very good meals (family meals offered), and regular activities/outings. Rooms are shared (2-3 per room) but everything is clean and well-kept; overall she's in very caring hands and I'm very satisfied.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly praise the quality of care, the compassion and dedication of staff, and the small, family-like atmosphere. Multiple comments emphasize that residents receive individualized attention and that staff often go "above and beyond," creating a sense of relief and gratitude among family members who placed loved ones there.

Care quality and staff performance are the most consistently lauded aspects. The facility is described as providing a high level of care for residents, including those with Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. Reviewers used very strong language — calling staff "amazing," "caring," and saying residents are "in better hands" — and one reviewer specifically noted being "blessed" to have placed a family member there. Low staff turnover is mentioned, which supports continuity of care and contributes to the family-like environment and strong resident–staff relationships.

The facility’s size and atmosphere are highlighted as strengths. Multiple reviewers call Park Ridge a "small home" that feels personal and familial; that smaller scale is linked to more individualized care and attentive staff. Cleanliness is also a recurring theme: rooms and common areas are described as clean, which reinforces the positive impressions of management and daily operations. One reviewer noted that their sister had her own apartment, indicating that at least some private-apartment options exist within the facility.

Dining and activities receive positive mentions as well. Meals are described as "very good," with family meals offered, suggesting communal dining opportunities that reinforce the home-like environment. Daily activities and outings are part of the routine, which reviewers appreciate as contributing to residents’ quality of life and social engagement.

The most notable and consistent concern is privacy and rooming arrangements. Reviewers explicitly state there are no private rooms and that residents commonly share rooms with 2–3 people. This is the clearest downside mentioned and may be important for families for whom private rooms are a priority. Aside from that, the reviews do not raise additional operational or care-related complaints; the small size that contributes to a family atmosphere could also imply limited capacity or space, but reviewers framed the small scale positively rather than as a limitation.

In summary, Park Ridge Healthcare Center is portrayed as a small, clean, and compassionate facility that specializes in care for people with Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. The dominant themes are high-quality, individualized care delivered by friendly, stable staff; strong cleanliness standards; good food and communal meal experiences; and an active daily life with outings. The primary trade-off to note is limited private-room availability, with shared rooms of 2–3 residents being the norm, although occasional private apartment options appear to exist for some residents. Overall, prospective families seeking a small, attentive, community-style setting with skilled, caring staff are likely to view Park Ridge very favorably, while those requiring guaranteed private-room accommodations should investigate rooming options further.

    About Park Ridge Healthcare Center

Park Ridge Care Center is a small, for-profit nursing facility offering both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. The center has 46 beds and operates as a limited liability company, providing its services to a focused group of residents. While it does not belong to a continuing care retirement community, it does participate in both Medicare and Medicaid programs, making it accessible to a range of individuals who may need varying lengths of care and different payment options. Residents at Park Ridge Care Center may arrive after hospital stays needing post-acute rehabilitation, as well as those seeking a supportive long-term living arrangement with daily assistance.

The care at Park Ridge Care Center focuses on both medical and non-medical needs, ensuring residents receive daily help with tasks such as administering medications, dressing, eating, and using the bathroom as necessary. On average, residents receive 2 hours and 39 minutes of nurse staffing per day, and the facility has been recognized for consistent staffing levels throughout the week, which helps maintain continuity of care and attention for all residents. The center reports strong vaccination rates, with the vast majority of residents receiving annual influenza vaccinations, and maintains low rates of falls with injury and emergency room visits for both short-term and long-term residents. Notably, a high percentage of residents retain the ability to self-care, indicating the center’s effectiveness in supporting residents’ independence.

Park Ridge Care Center undergoes regular state health, fire, and safety inspections as part of ongoing quality control. While the facility has experienced some deficiencies in areas such as honoring residents' rights, nutrition staffing, infection prevention and control programs, the use of physical restraints, and prompt reporting of suspected abuse or neglect, these citations were identified as low potential for harm and were reported as fixed within a short timeframe. The center’s most recent inspection findings indicate a continued effort to address and resolve issues swiftly to promote a safe and dignified living environment for its residents.

Residents at Park Ridge Care Center benefit not just from reliable medical support but also from a community environment that strives to maintain dignity, self-determination, and communication for each individual. The center’s structure aims for residents' quality of life, empowering them to maintain their autonomy as much as possible while also providing the support necessary for those with greater needs. Though modest in size, Park Ridge Care Center delivers comprehensive care for a variety of medical, rehabilitative, and personal needs, making it an option for individuals seeking attentive and balanced long-term or short-term care.
