    Warm caring staff, clean safe

I'm very pleased with this community - the staff are warm, caring and helpful, the building is clean, well-maintained and homey yet resort-like, and I felt my loved one was safe during the pandemic. Meals are tasty with good variety, activities are plentiful, residents are welcoming, and I would happily recommend it to family and friends.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Curtis Creek Senior Living is described by many families as a well-appointed, activity-rich community with a staff culture that is generally warm and attentive. The property has undergone renovations and several reviewers praised the attractive, clean common areas and apartment finishes. Residents and families commonly highlight an active social calendar, on-site amenities, and restaurant-style dining as important strengths that support independence and social engagement.

Care and staff: The workforce is frequently described as caring, welcoming, and willing to go beyond routine duties. Many accounts note helpful desk and caregiving staff, managers who are engaged, and staff who support residents during transitions and pandemic restrictions. At the same time, reviewers indicate variability in staffing — periods of good responsiveness are sometimes followed by reports of short staffing or declines in care continuity. Prospective residents should evaluate current staffing levels and talk specifically about continuity plans for hands-on care.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a prominent positive for the community: reviewers praise variety, restaurant-style service, and appealing meal choices. There are also instances of inconsistent accommodation for specific dietary needs and at least one example of an initial failure to meet a dietary restriction that was later addressed by kitchen leadership. Reviewers also raised concerns about the facility’s use of nutrition expertise in specific circumstances. Families should confirm how dietary restrictions are handled and whether modifications can be sustained long term.

Activities and facilities: Curtis Creek offers an extensive activities program (holiday events, games, outings, faith services, exercise options) and regular transportation for trips. Renovations, décor, and amenities such as the library, chapel, and exercise areas are commonly praised, and larger apartment types are noted as roomy and attractive. However, unit sizes vary considerably and some smaller apartments are perceived as tight. Maintenance performance appears mixed: while many describe a well-maintained environment, others report delayed repairs or specific issues such as roof leaks and rooms needing attention.

Management, contracts, and notable patterns: Several reviews raise concerns about contract clarity and financial practices, including pricing discrepancies between tour quotes and contract terms and unclear post-occupancy billing. Marketing and tour presentations do not always align with contractual fine print in reviewers’ experience. In addition, a few reviewers cited failures to deliver promised amenities (for example, cable or Wi‑Fi) and security/access-control weaknesses (e.g., unlocked doors or easy access to unit doors). These items point to recurring operational themes: strong interpersonal care and social programming paired with variability in back-office practices, maintenance follow-through, and consistency of promised services.

Bottom line: Curtis Creek may be a good fit for prospective residents who prioritize social programming, renovated common spaces, and a staff-oriented culture. Before committing, families should review contracts closely, verify current staffing levels and maintenance responsiveness, and confirm in writing how dietary needs, technology, security, and post-occupancy billing will be handled to ensure expectations align with contract terms.

    About Curtis Creek Senior Living

Curtis Creek Senior Living sits on the east end of Quincy, Illinois, near museums and historical sites, and the place sort of feels like a little neighborhood of its own, with walking trails, pretty gardens, and a bunch of outdoor patios where folks can sit and visit or just enjoy the day, and you'll see folks out walking their pets since some small ones are allowed. The apartments come in studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, each with a kitchenette, private bathroom, emergency call system, individual thermostat, and some are even set up to be fully wheelchair-friendly with walk-in tubs and safety rails-plus, units range in size from about 335 to 975 square feet, so there's enough room whether someone wants cozy or more space. Residents have access to covered and regular parking, a laundry room, and handy services like weekly housekeeping, linen changes, and an on-site beauty salon for a haircut or barber visit, which can make things a bit easier when it comes to daily chores.

Meals get served three times daily in the main community dining room, with open hours from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at The Underground Restaurant, which has more than 50 menu options, and folks are welcome to bring guests to eat or even stay overnight if family wants to visit, which is a nice touch because it helps people feel at home and keeps families connected. For social time, the place is busy with activities pretty much every day-yeah, there's everything from board games and cards to movie nights and Wii bowling tournaments, along with trips out to Quincy for local events and entertainment, and there's a special volunteer program called Seniors Serving Society where people can give back to the community.

Curtis Creek has a gym, fitness equipment, an activity room, library, computer area, media room, chapel for worship, locked mailboxes, billiards room, and a fireplace lounge-there's cable and WiFi in common areas and apartments, too, and even a business center for those who need to get things done or just want to browse online. For safety, there are smoke alarms, sprinklers, safety rails, and the Lively Mobile Plus emergency response device, which helps in case someone needs help fast. The whole property is non-smoking indoors, and there's security and maintenance staff on hand.

This community provides independent living, assisted living, and memory care services, so seniors with different needs can find the right level of help, whether that's just having help with cleaning and meals or more hands-on care with daily living or support with memory-related conditions. On-site, fully trained and friendly staff can lend a hand with chores, offer companionship, and help with tasks like bathing or dressing when needed, but still respect privacy and encourage people to stay as active as possible, and there's a shuttle for free rides to doctor appointments and outings around town. Curtis Creek aims to offer a place where older adults can live on their own schedule, enjoy life, join activities, and keep as much independence as possible, all in an environment that puts comfort, safety, and companionship at the front without making anyone feel pressured to be busier than they want.
