    Brief stay with excellent care

I had a brief stay and felt well cared for - staff were kind, attentive, and professional, the meals were very good with plenty of choices and flexible hours, and the community is clean, comfortable, and full of activities. My family and I were happy with the care and value and I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews of GreenTree at Westwood describe a facility with many operational strengths alongside notable variability in management and clinical consistency. Positive comments repeatedly emphasize compassionate, attentive front-line staff, a clean and comfortable physical environment, attractive grounds, and a broad array of amenities. Many families highlight quick emergency responses, effective on-site physical therapy, regular apartment upgrades, and a sense of home in common areas.

Care and staffing: Care experiences are mixed. Numerous accounts praise staff for attentiveness, responsiveness, and personal warmth; several reviewers said family members were well cared for and that staff went above and beyond. At the same time, there are recurring concerns about staffing consistency — including reduced caregiving headcount, fewer staff on certain shifts, and a reliance on outside or agency caregivers — which reviewers link to variability in day-to-day care quality. There are also questions raised about clinical oversight and clarity around licensure and regulatory status; prospective families should verify current RN coverage, staffing ratios, and regulatory compliance directly with the community and state sources.

Dining: Dining is frequently cited as a strength. Reviewers describe good food, varied menus, and a flexible all-day dining model with quick meal service and customizable options. Several reviewers characterize the dining as excellent and a key value element. However, a minority of comments point to inconsistent kitchen performance and variability in meal preparation standards; a meal tasting and questions about kitchen staffing and menu rotation are reasonable steps during a tour.

Activities and services: The community offers a robust activities calendar, weekly trips, and on-site services such as a beauty shop and errand assistance. Multiple accounts indicate an engaging schedule that contributes to a lively atmosphere. There are, however, reports that activity programming changed following management transitions, with some activities reduced or removed. Clarify current activity offerings, frequency, and any changes tied to recent management decisions.

Facilities and amenities: The facility is described as well-kept, recently updated in many areas, and situated in a pleasant wooded setting with patio/garden and outdoor features. Interior common areas are described as spacious and home-like. Ongoing apartment upgrades (new carpeting, counters, appliances) are noted. Some reviewers mentioned usability issues with room controls (lighting, motion sensors, TV remotes) and variable availability of private outdoor spaces for some units; check unit-level features during a visit.

Management and notable patterns: Impressions of leadership are mixed. Several reviewers praise an accessible and helpful director of sales and marketing staff, while others express concern that executive leadership is less visible and oriented toward financial or investor priorities. Reports of staffing reductions, outsourcing, and changes to programming after management transitions create a pattern prospective families should evaluate. There are also comments pointing to workplace culture and communication problems that could affect continuity of care.

What to verify on a visit: Given the mix of strong operational positives and recurring concerns, families should confirm current staffing levels and RN coverage, ask about use of agency caregivers, review recent state inspection and licensure records, sample meals, observe a mealtime and an activity, inspect a unit for recent upgrades and outdoor access, and ask management about any recent organizational changes and their impact on programming and care. These checks will help determine whether the community’s strengths align with a prospective resident’s priorities and clinical needs.
