    Gorgeous facility, excellent staff, seamless

I moved my mom here and am very pleased. The building is gorgeous and hotel-like - huge atrium, aviary, covered patio and lovely common areas - newly renovated and very clean. Staff are professional, warm and responsive (Amy and Kelly stood out), care and on-site therapy/doctor visits are excellent, dining and activities are plentiful, and they helped smoothly with placement and Medicaid - I'd gladly recommend The Harrison.

    Summary of reviews

The Harrison presents as a well-appointed, recently renovated senior living community with many physical and programmatic strengths. The building is consistently described as bright, open and hotel-like, anchored by a large atrium with bird- and fish-viewing areas, multiple activity rooms, and a variety of indoor and outdoor common spaces including covered patios and a gazebo. Apartment layouts—particularly studios and one-bedrooms—are noted for being spacious with practical kitchens and closets. On-site amenities such as therapy services (PT/OT), a salon, weekly physician visits, transportation for outings, and organized social programming contribute to an active environment for residents.

Staffing and day-to-day caregiving receive mixed but frequently positive remarks. Many families and visitors characterize staff as friendly, approachable, and team-oriented; several reviews cite staff going above and beyond and a supportive culture among employees. The community also has strengths in move-in facilitation and leasing support, including assistance navigating Medicaid admissions and waiver processes. Executive-level communication is praised in multiple accounts for transparency about infection status and adaptive visiting policies, and some families report smooth move-in experiences and accurate, timely communication.

However, there are recurrent operational concerns that prospective families should evaluate. Staffing consistency is a central pattern: reviewers describe short-staffing, high turnover, and variability in clinical coverage (including inconsistent RN availability), which can affect medication timing, documentation, and the ability to meet higher-acuity needs in the memory-care unit. Several accounts highlight medication-management issues (timing errors, difficulty obtaining medication documentation) and limitations in clinical capability for residents who require more intensive skilled nursing or complex pain management.

Other operational weaknesses include variability in dining and dietary options: while some residents enjoy meals and amenities such as a salad bar, others note inconsistent food quality and a need for more specialized menus (for example, diabetic options). Maintenance and housekeeping services are uneven according to reviews; some families report timely maintenance and clean apartments, while others cite unresolved maintenance requests and sanitation or pest-control concerns in specific areas. Financial transparency also emerges as a notable pattern—families raise questions about ancillary charges, assessment items, and lease/pricing discrepancies or increases—so reviewing billing practices and lease language is advisable.

In summary, The Harrison offers strong physical amenities, a broad activity program, and many examples of engaged, compassionate staff and transparent leadership communication. At the same time, its operational profile shows variability in clinical staffing, medication management, maintenance responsiveness, dining consistency, and billing clarity. Prospective residents and families should tour the community during mealtimes, ask for current staffing and clinical-coverage levels (including RN schedules and memory-care staffing ratios), review recent pest-control and maintenance records, and request detailed billing/assessment examples and lease documents before deciding.
