    Clean, modern, family-like, attentive care

I placed my dad here and I'm very pleased - the new leadership has brought a refreshing, family-like atmosphere where nurses, CNAs, therapists and dining staff truly go above and beyond. The building is clean and modern, activities keep residents engaged, admissions and admin were smooth and welcoming, and the team even stepped up for the community with a COVID unit. I'm grateful for the caring, attentive staff and would recommend this facility, with only a couple minor areas that could be tightened up.

    Summary of reviews

Majestic Care of Newburgh elicits strongly mixed but consistent themes across family and resident feedback. Many accounts praise the front-line caregiving team—particularly CNAs, therapy staff, and several nurses—for compassionate day-to-day support, effective physical therapy, and a generally warm, family-like culture. The facility's campus is frequently described as clean, modern, and well maintained, with a pleasant entry reception, an accessible courtyard, and a program of engaging activities (holiday events, visits from animals, outdoor outings) that families find meaningful. Administrative and admissions staff receive repeated commendations for empathy and smooth transitions, and several families highlighted positive short-term rehab outcomes and continuity of assigned caregivers.

Counterbalancing those positives are recurring operational weaknesses that affect clinical reliability and resident comfort. Staffing inconsistencies and what families describe as an overworked workforce are central concerns: reviewers describe delays in responding to call lights and medication passes, irregular bathing schedules, and uneven availability of clinical staff. Linked to staffing are lapses in clinical monitoring and care processes cited in multiple accounts — examples include wound-care follow-up, oxygen and tracheostomy management, and inconsistent fall-prevention practices and post-fall response. These issues suggest variability in clinical oversight rather than a uniformly poor care model.

Dining and household services show a split pattern. Several families praise the dietary team and enjoy the meals, while others describe inconsistent meal quality and instances of inadequate meal provision. Laundry and personal-property controls were raised as operational problems by multiple families, with concerns about lost items and infrequent linen changes in some cases. Sanitation and odor concerns in certain halls or rooms were also reported, indicating uneven housekeeping performance across the facility.

Management and leadership present a mixed picture: some reviewers commend recent leadership changes and a refreshed atmosphere, while others describe management as inconsistent or ineffective, and note issues with billing and property tracking. The facility's responsiveness during infection-control events (including opening a COVID unit to help the community) was seen positively by some, but outbreak-related stress and negative media attention have also affected family perceptions.

For prospective residents and families: the facility demonstrates clear strengths in frontline caregiving, rehab therapy, social programming, and a well-kept physical environment. However, several operational areas merit close review during tours and admissions discussions—staffing patterns at the unit level and during evenings/nights, specific clinical capabilities for devices (e.g., tracheostomy, oxygen), fall-prevention protocols, laundry and property safeguards, medication administration timeliness, and consistency of housekeeping. Asking for recent staffing ratios, turnover data, examples of clinical incident follow-up, and speaking with current families on-site can help clarify whether the facility’s favorable aspects will match an individual resident’s clinical and personal needs.
