    Caring staff, clean home-like facility

I'm very pleased with the caring, professional staff and how clean and home-like the facility is. Communication has been excellent, therapy noticeably improved mobility, and meals and amenities are enjoyable - administration and nurses go above and beyond. Overall I'm satisfied and would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews for Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center are polarized, with a substantial number of families praising therapy outcomes, individual caregivers, facility aesthetics, and family-oriented amenities, while others raise operational and clinical concerns. The facility shows clear strengths in rehabilitation, certain clinical teams, and the physical environment; however, persistent patterns of variability in day-to-day operations shape families’ experiences.

Care quality and clinical oversight: Many families describe effective rehabilitation services and nurses who provide thorough, attentive care. Therapy teams are frequently credited with enabling safe returns home and progressive mobility gains. Counterbalancing those accounts are consistent descriptions of variability in nursing responsiveness, delays in attending to resident needs, and concerns about medication handling and documentation. These indicate uneven clinical oversight and the potential for inconsistent care delivery across shifts.

Staff and teamwork: A number of reviews highlight compassionate, dedicated caregivers, CNAs, and long-tenured staff who go beyond basic expectations. At the same time, reports of high turnover, uneven staff training, and intermittent inattentive behaviors (for example, delayed responses or personal-device use during shifts) suggest workforce stability and supervision are variable. Prospective families should expect strong individual caregivers in many cases but also be prepared to ask about staffing patterns, shift coverage, and orientation protocols.

Dining and activities: Meal presentation, accommodations for dietary needs, and social dining spaces receive frequent praise; reviewers noted attractive plating and staff willingness to adjust menus. Other families reported inconsistent meal quality, issues with food temperature or texture, and limited seasoning. Activities and structured exercise offerings are commonly described as robust and beneficial, contributing to a home-like atmosphere and resident engagement.

Facilities and environment: The building and rooms are often described as clean, nicely furnished, and well-decorated, with wide halls and visitor-friendly spaces. Renovations and recent HVAC upgrades were noted positively by several families. However, there are recurring complaints about sanitation inconsistencies and intermittent odor concerns in some areas, along with episodes of temperature-control problems when HVAC systems were not functioning reliably. Grounds and outdoor amenities are adequate but could benefit from maintenance and programming enhancements.

Management and communication: Management and administrative responsiveness is a mixed area. Some reviewers applaud open-door leadership, helpful admissions and scheduling communication, and proactive updates to families. Others describe difficulty reaching social services or administration, delayed family contact after critical events, and a perceived lack of accountability. Separate operational issues around property control — missing personal items and delayed returns — have been raised enough times to suggest process gaps rather than isolated incidents.

Notable patterns and guidance for families: The most consistent pattern is variability — excellent experiences coexist with significant lapses. Strengths center on rehabilitation, committed individual staff members, and a pleasant physical environment. Weaknesses relate to operational consistency: staffing stability, medication and belongings controls, sanitation/temperature management, and family communication in some cases. Prospective residents and families should tour the facility, ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, review medication and property-management protocols, inquire about recent corrective actions or inspection findings, and seek examples of how management addresses family concerns and escalations.

About Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center

Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center sits over on Elmhurst Boulevard in Salina, Kansas, where folks find an 82-bed nursing facility that offers both short-term and long-term stays, and you'll see private rooms for individuals-also, they have semiprivate rooms for couples, and every room lets residents have a private bathroom, a private phone line, and satellite television, which is nice for a bit of comfort, and when someone feels like it, meals are provided, rooms are air-conditioned, and there's high-speed internet and Wi-Fi all over the place so families can keep in touch. The staff, who are part of Consulate Health Care, work to create a caring, community-minded environment and there's always a focus on cleanliness and good communication with families, which many find reassuring, especially since the employees number somewhere between fifty and two hundred, which keeps things personal but still staffed enough for high-needs care. Folks who need skilled nursing or high acuity care, or maybe are coming in for rehabilitation services, memory care, or even hospice, will find on-site restorative therapy using modern equipment like lifts and other therapy tools, and you'll hear about specialty services like podiatry and IV care being offered. Some rooms even come with in-room heaters in the bathing areas, there are whirlpool baths, and community showers are available for those who might need them. Kenwood View has a reputation for keeping things clean, being clear with families, and aiming for five-star nursing care-of course, people say the staff are warm and knowledgeable, and they focus on patient comfort, trying to make sure everyone has what they need whether they're staying just a short while or call Kenwood View home for the long-term. The center is classified under hospitals and health care, and you're likely to find a privacy practices policy amongst their paperwork, as they do work with both healthcare staffing and offer a variety of community amenities, but in the end, it's a state-of-the-art place, built for recovery and for living, and every so often it's nice to have a place that knows how to balance quality care with a bit of peace and dignity.
