    Spacious social community with amenities

I live here and it truly feels like home - elegant, spacious apartments with patios and lovely kitchens. The amenities (movie theater, library, gym, beauty salon, back patio/grill, covered parking) and nonstop activities keep me social, with concierge support and free transportation making life easy. Staff and management (Sheryl and team) are attentive and loving, neighbors feel like family - I highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Residence 600 presents as an independent-living community with a strong emphasis on amenities, social programming, and a homelike atmosphere. Reviewers consistently describe a well-maintained building and grounds, spacious apartments with attractive kitchens and private patios, and a wide range of on-site amenities — notably a movie theater, library, beauty salon, exercise room, and outdoor grilling/picnic areas. Security elements such as locked entry doors and covered parking are also highlighted.

Staff and management receive consistently positive comments. Many families and residents describe long-tenured, attentive staff who are willing to provide extra assistance, and reviewers frequently note a welcoming, family-like culture among neighbors. Management is characterized as responsive and engaged, with specific administrators named positively. The community offers concierge services and free transportation to medical appointments, which reviewees identify as a practical benefit.

Activities and social life are noted as robust: organized events draw good attendance, and residents report enjoyable group activities and social opportunities that reduce isolation. The overall tone in these areas is one of high resident satisfaction and active engagement.

Dining is an area with mixed signals. Several observations indicate attractive food offerings, continental breakfast options, and occasional meal delivery to rooms; however, other comments indicate the facility no longer maintains an on-site cook or regular meal service in the dining room. This points to inconsistent dining-service availability and communication about what food services are currently provided. Prospective residents should confirm current meal-service arrangements and any available meal-delivery options before committing.

A few operational concerns emerge as patterns to investigate further. The absence of on-site meal preparation is a clear service constraint for those who expect institutional dining; relatedly, the inconsistent descriptions of dining suggest communication or continuity issues around food services. At least one account notes an extended stay following a fall, which raises the question of mobility- and fall-risk management practices; families should ask about protocols for fall prevention, stair safety, and transfer assistance. Finally, a couple of comments reference the surrounding neighborhood as less desirable, so prospective residents may wish to assess local surroundings and safety personally.

Overall, Residence 600 appears well suited to independent seniors who value an amenities-rich environment, active social programming, and attentive staff leadership. Families and prospective residents should verify current dining arrangements, review fall-prevention practices and mobility supports, and evaluate neighborhood factors during a visit to ensure the community matches their practical and clinical expectations.

    About Residence 600

Residence 600, found at 600 E. Elm St Suite B, offers seniors a range of living choices, including assisted living, memory care, independent living, home care, and skilled nursing services, and the place's pretty well known for using special names like Residence 600 community and Residence 600 Memory Care for its different areas, which makes things clearer for everyone living there, and the staff uses personalized care plans with 24-hour supervision, medication management, and aide assistance for day-to-day needs, while the community keeps things safe with secured doors and offers support for Alzheimer's and dementia care. The community has a shared dining room, beauty salon, general store, and comfortable gathering spaces for residents, plus garden areas people seem to like spending time in, and there's even a dedicated area where you can get physical therapy or take part in activity programs. People can bring a cat or small dog to the pet-friendly suites, which might be studio, one-bedroom, or even spacious suites that come with gourmet kitchens, heated tile floors, private patios or balconies, and big living areas that feel a little more like home, with extra amenities like concierge services and attention to detail in the rooms. The community's involved in several local events through the Salina Senior Theatre Project (SSTP), inviting seniors to join and sometimes perform plays, skits, or singing events-sometimes right at Residence 600 or out at other retirement homes-like on April 22nd, where they put on plays such as "Little Red Riding Hood" or "You Know You Are Old When…" which gives folks a chance to watch or even get up and participate, and this focus on performing arts encourages people to stay active and engaged. The community makes sure to offer rehabilitation and therapeutic services, plus special care like Punchin Out Parkinsons and support for hearing aids and resources for people who need them, and the place offers extra safety with medical alert systems and security features, including walk-in tubs, medication dispensers, and help with ID theft protection. Residence 600 belongs to both the Brookdale Senior Living and Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America networks, offering care that's been rated with a 4-star nursing home level by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and an average community rating of about 8.9 out of 10, though community ratings can vary, and some people report it as around 7.2 out of 10, so it's a good idea to look at reviews. Folks can also check out more about upcoming performances or programs through their Facebook page, and there are resources for technology too, like senior internet, cable, and phone plans from common providers, so people can stay connected to family and friends. The environment feels secure and there's a real effort to keep residents comfortable with boutique services and places where you can gather, shop a bit, or just spend a quiet afternoon, so whether someone needs nursing, memory care, or just independent living in a suite with a private balcony, Residence 600 tries to make sure people have the right support and a sense of community.
