    Clean well-kept facility great rehab

I toured the facility and was impressed: very clean, well-kept, home-like interior (a bit dated) and serene grounds with a pretty fountain. Staff and office personnel were polite, professional and helpful; residents looked well cared for, upbeat, and safety/quality of life was clearly prioritized. Large dining and activity rooms, visitor parking, vending and strong rehab services round out a place I would confidently recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize that Owsley County Health Care Center is very clean and well maintained, both inside and out. The outdoor environment is repeatedly described as serene and nicely kept, with specific mentions of a pretty fountain and pleasant grounds. Cleanliness and upkeep come through as consistent strengths and contribute to an uplifting atmosphere for residents and visitors.

Staff performance and resident care are central positive themes. Reviewers characterize staff as courteous, polite, professional, and helpful. Front office personnel are described as informative and supportive, and visitors report pleasant interactions. Reviews note that residents are treated with respect and that staff prioritize safety and residents' quality of life. Several comments indicate that residents are well cared for and that staff are doing a very good job, which supports high confidence in choosing or recommending the facility.

Services and amenities are seen favorably. Rehabilitation services were highlighted as impressive, suggesting capable clinical or therapy offerings. Social and dining spaces are noted as strengths, with a large dining room and dedicated activity room contributing to resident engagement and pleasant visits. Visitor amenities such as parking, vending machines, and designated outside smoking areas were also called out, indicating attention to practical needs of families and guests.

Facility character and atmosphere are generally positive, with interior decor described as home-like and contributing to a comfortable setting. That said, one recurrent minor concern is that portions of the interior appear a bit older. This suggests that while the facility is kept clean and has a welcoming atmosphere, some decor or finishes may show age and could benefit from updating. This is the primary negative point in otherwise overwhelmingly favorable reviews.

In summary, reviews portray Owsley County Health Care Center as a well-maintained, caring facility with strong staff performance, good rehabilitation services, and pleasant communal spaces. The combination of respectful caregiving, attention to resident safety and quality of life, and attractive outdoor grounds leads reviewers to feel confident recommending the facility. The only notable drawback mentioned is an aging interior in places, which appears minor compared with the consistent praise for cleanliness, staff, and services.

About Owsley County Health Care Center

Owsley County Health Care Center sits at 20 County Barn Road in Booneville, Kentucky, and has room for 99 certified beds even though it usually cares for about 80 residents each day, and folks have been running things here under Health Systems Of Kentucky, LLC since 2006, with a non-profit approach shaping how the place works, and you've got regular business hours from early in the morning until late afternoon. The center provides long-term skilled nursing for people who need daily help, along with skilled rehab services, private rooms for those working on recovery, and support for residents through VA services, hospice care, and respite stays. Residents get healthy meals, spend time in outdoor spaces, and take part in activities that help pass the day, and the staff say they aim to give care that's made to match each person's needs. The nurse turnover rate is 42.9%, which is a little better than the state average, and every resident typically gets about 3.83 hours of nurse attention each day, which falls just under what's usually seen statewide. The last standard inspection was over two years ago, though, which means things went longer than the usual 9 to 15 months between checks, and the place has had 11 total deficiencies, with some tied to infection control plus issues reported with resident rights, assessments, and care planning, so those are things to consider as well if you're looking at what this center offers.
