    Caring staff, excellent food, home

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased. The staff are knowledgeable, caring, and attentive, the food is genuinely excellent, and there are daily engaging activities and a lovely fenced courtyard that make it feel like home. Clean, family-oriented, and reassuring - I would highly recommend this community for memory care.

    Summary of reviews

Cardinal Landing Memory Care is frequently described as a clean, well-kept memory-care community with a strong emphasis on creating a home-like environment. Many families and visitors highlight the facility’s specialization in dementia care, a secure outdoor courtyard and garden, in-house amenities (laundry, salon, built-in TV/cable/internet), and a generally pleasant, well-maintained appearance. Rooms range from updated or remodeled private suites to smaller shared rooms; several reviewers singled out spacious rooms and bright common areas as positives.

Staff and caregiving are a prominent strength for many families. A substantial number of comments praise compassionate, patient, and attentive staff who provide dignity-focused interactions, personalized touches (for example, birthday meals and family dining invitations), and end-of-life support. Several notes mention proactive leadership in activities programming, an engaged activities director, and availability of on-site physical therapy. These elements combine to produce a sense of safety and peace of mind for many families.

Dining and activities are recurring strong points, with numerous mentions of appealing, home-style meals that residents look forward to, diverse offerings such as cooking classes, painting, exercise, and memory-recall games, and frequent social events (movie nights, holiday activities, family-invite dinners). At the same time, there is variability reported in food quality and nutritional variety; a few families wanted more consistent availability of fruits and vegetables and more consistent meal satisfaction across stays.

Several operational concerns appear across the reviews and are worth noting for prospective families. Staffing levels and clinical coverage are uneven in some accounts: reviewers describe periodic shortages, no nurse on duty during certain shifts, and variability in responsiveness. Related patterns include inconsistent supervision of roaming residents and occasional privacy practice gaps (for example, rooms entered without knocking). Some families reported management or communication lapses — such as an administrative focus on rules, difficulty reaching leadership, or perceived indifference to family concerns — which can magnify the impact of staffing issues.

A small but consequential cluster of reviews raises safety-related concerns including missing personal items and allegations of theft; these comments emphasize the need for clear personal-belongings protocols and proactive management follow-up. A few reviewers also described a decline in care quality over time or inconsistent experiences between shifts or staff members. Cost perceptions vary: some families consider the price justified by the care quality and amenities, while others find the community expensive relative to their expectations.

In summary, Cardinal Landing presents as a well-appointed memory-care community with many strengths in cleanliness, staff compassion, activities, and family-oriented programming. Prospective residents and families should weigh these positives alongside operational items flagged by reviewers — particularly staffing consistency, clinical coverage, management responsiveness, privacy practices, and personal-belongings safeguards — and address those topics directly during tours and contract discussions to ensure the community’s current performance aligns with their expectations.

    About Cardinal Landing Memory Care

Cardinal Landing Memory Care sits at 1310 Campbell Lane in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and serves seniors who need memory care in a secure and comfortable place, and it's got a section in its own building set up to keep people safe, especially those prone to wandering or showing difficult behaviors, because the staff uses things like alarm bracelets and secured doors to help prevent anyone from getting lost or hurt, and there's always someone on duty, day and night, whether folks need reminders about bathing, grooming, or even just getting to activities and meals. The community uses the "Best Friends" care approach, so staff try to get to know residents personally, offering support and friendship as they help with memory loss and daily routines. Studio apartments come fully furnished, with emergency call systems, plus private baths and wheelchair-accessible showers for safety and comfort, and the building itself has both indoor and outdoor common areas, including secured gardens. Meals get served restaurant-style by a professional chef, and people can get vegetarian options, low sodium, or low sugar meals if they need them-there's even nutrition support for those who could use a hand with healthy choices, and they do family-style dining which some folks enjoy. There's a nurse on staff and team members who can do things like insulin shots and blood sugar checks, and while the facility can help with bowel and bladder care if people can manage most things themselves, sliding scale insulin isn't something they do. The place even allows for some outdoor smoking, and pets are welcome through special programs. You'll find a lot of activities every week-chair yoga, stretching, gardening, musical events, trivia, art, trips, and cooking classes, even special programs for folks who have Alzheimer's or other dementias, with things like Jeopardy, puzzles, outings, and intergenerational visits with kids, all aimed at keeping everyone active and engaged, including devotional services and lectures for mind and spirit. If respite or hospice care becomes necessary, Cardinal Landing offers short-term stays or end-of-life support, always with attention to dignity and personal needs. The whole community is designed so people can age in place as care needs grow, with assistance for one-person or two-person transfers, even using mechanical lifts if needed, and all throughout, the staff focus on compassion, safety, and a feeling of home under Executive Director Theresa McFarlin. Cardinal Landing is part of Chandler Park Assisted Living & Cardinal Landing Memory Care, and while the place aims for a warm and welcoming space that gives seniors comfort, structure, and peace of mind, everyone works to treat each resident with respect and help them stay as independent as possible, guided by routines, care, and community.
