    Caring staff, safe pet-friendly community

I moved my mom here and we've been very pleased. The staff are warm, professional, and go above and beyond; the community is clean, safe, pet-friendly, with roomy apartments, good meals, and a full activities calendar. It feels like family-I'm confident she's well cared for and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Brookdale Murray elicits a mix of strong positive experiences and operational criticisms. The most consistent strengths described are the quality of day-to-day resident life: many families and residents highlight warm, family-like staff interactions, an active social program, and amenities that support an engaged lifestyle. The property offers several on-site features — a restaurant-style dining room, movie theater, library, outdoor spaces, and transportation for community outings — and many reviewers praised the welcoming atmosphere and opportunities for residents to participate in events and outings.

Care and staff: Care quality is a clear area of strength for many respondents. Staff are frequently described as compassionate, attentive, and willing to go beyond routine duties to assist residents and families. Leadership at times receives direct praise for responsiveness and proactive communication. That said, there are recurring concerns about staffing stability and training: high turnover, variable experience among direct-care staff, and occasional instances of delayed responses to requests. Clinical capability also appears mixed — the community is commonly seen as well suited for ambulatory older adults who require routine medical appointments, but less appropriate for people with complex chronic medical conditions or significant behavioral-health needs.

Dining and food service: Dining is an area of polarized feedback. The facility’s dining room and service model (restaurant-style seating, private dining, family-join options, chef visits) are frequently commended. However, multiple accounts point to inconsistent meal execution and quality — menus that look appealing but do not always match the served food, prepackaged or institutional-feeling entrees at times, and problems tied to kitchen renovation or staffing. Temperature comfort in dining and public areas also drew occasional comment.

Activities and social life: Activity programming receives strong, consistent praise. Reviewers describe a full calendar of resident-centered events, outings, therapy-animal visits, and opportunities for families and the public to join activities. Residents are often characterized as active and engaged, and the community’s social offerings are a notable selling point.

Facilities and maintenance: Many reviewers note clean, remodeled apartments and well-kept common areas; wheelchair-accessible modifications and large apartment options are positive features. At the same time, some parts of the building are described as older and in need of renovation or further overhaul, creating variability in the physical environment depending on unit location.

Management and operations: Management impressions are mixed. Some families praise the executive director and administrative team for good communication, open enrollment, and individualized move-in assistance. Others cite concerns about billing practices, inconsistent adherence to notice policies, and occasional unresponsiveness from administration. Admissions and financial transparency emerge as a recurring worry for a subset of respondents. There are also concerns about inconsistent adherence to medication-administration and privacy protocols, which some reviewers flagged as an operational gap rather than an isolated error.

Notable patterns and suitability: The prevailing pattern is one of a community with strong social programming and a caring staff culture that supports resident well-being, but with operational variability in dining, staffing stability, cleanliness in some areas, and administrative consistency. Brookdale Murray appears well suited to ambulatory seniors who value activities, social life, and a restaurant-style dining environment, and who do not require intensive clinical oversight. Prospective residents and families should tour multiple apartment types, ask specific questions about current kitchen operations and staffing stability, and review contract and billing terms closely to ensure alignment with the resident’s clinical needs and financial expectations.

    About Brookdale Murray

Brookdale Murray is a senior living community managed by Executive Director Stephanie Edwards, and it's one of those places where older adults have helped with assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing all in the same place, so there's always a level of care for people as their needs change, and the staff does things like helping with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and keeping track of medication. The building has three stories, and residents can pick from roomy studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, and there's a pet-friendly policy if someone wants to bring their small companion, and the grounds around the community are landscaped nicely, with walking paths that are good for getting a little fresh air. Folks living there get personalized care plans, and the clinical team is supportive and tries to help everyone stay as independent as possible, helping people recover if they've been ill, since Brookdale Murray also offers things like rehab-to-home suites and therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy right on site. People often notice that the place is clean and the staff, who are called the heart and soul of the community, seem to care and help out more than expected.

There are plenty of recreational and leisure activities, so every day can offer something like fitness classes, religious services, games, arts and crafts, or events, and there's a library, a greenhouse, a game room, and even a beauty and barber shop for residents who want those services handy. Folks eat meals restaurant-style, which takes some of the work out of daily life, and the place is set up for Wi-Fi and high-speed internet, which is handy for staying connected with family, and the whole building is designed to be accessible for people with mobility needs. There's staff available around the clock for emergencies, so someone can always get help if something happens, and before moving in, every resident is assessed to make sure their care plan fits their unique needs, helping keep everyone comfortable and safe. Brookdale Murray has received recognition for being supportive and friendly, and it's licensed and reviewed regularly to ensure quality care, which matters for families. There are signature programs, event schedules, and even Brookdale Blogs for information, plus health and safety features built into daily routines. The environment feels inviting and warm, and people seem to find a sense of community among neighbors and the team working there.
