    Medication mishandled and belongings missing

I had a troubling experience. My tablet was missing for a week despite my complaint, requests for cameras were ignored, and I felt residents' belongings were at risk. Medication was mishandled-denied due to "policy," MD approvals delayed, and I was discharged missing meds with no informed consent while the DON and administration were unavailable or cited federal law and left for the day. Many staff were unprofessional and seemed lazy, but Shakeila and a few team members genuinely cared-there's 5-star potential if leadership fixes things. Monique White confronted me over my complaint; I cannot recommend this facility.

About Chateau St. James Rehab & Retirement

Chateau St. James Rehab & Retirement is a place that gives care to older adults with different needs, and it's got both rehab and retirement living services in a residential setting, so people get help with daily life, nursing care, memory care, and rehab if they need it, and they can stay for the long term or just for a short break if a caregiver needs time off, because respite care is available daily, weekly, or monthly depending on what's best for each person. Staff include skilled nurses and therapists who watch over health, manage recovery, and help with things like wounds, diabetes, pain, strokes, and even more, like speech therapy, cardiac therapy, tracheotomy care, and help for people with breathing problems, and those services are available through both outpatient and inpatient programs. The facility's got a memory care unit that's secured and set up for people dealing with dementia, so they're safe and can join activities to keep their minds active, and there are mental health services and social programs. The staff focuses on health and independence, trying to help each person improve or keep up their abilities using tailored care plans, comfort, counseling, and cultural and social activities, and they offer hospice and palliative care too for those who need comfort at the end of life. Chateau St. James has a dining room, elegant living rooms, and even an on-site beauty and barber shop, so residents feel more at home, and there's transportation help, personal care help, and lots of weekly activities like religious services, classes, performances, and outings. This is an average-sized nursing home, and it takes both Medicare and Medicaid, so people who need help paying can still come here. Past inspection results were mostly good, with a B- for the inspection category, but the overall rating is F, which means there have been some problems, so families need to know about that, but the staff still works to provide a friendly place and tries to make health care the best they can for elderly people, hoping to help each resident stay safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible.
