    Kind staff, clean, active community

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased. The staff - especially Megan and Eileen - are kind, patient and genuinely engaged; they know residents by name. The facility is clean, well-maintained and home-like, with bright apartments (balcony/kitchenette), lovely dining and healthy meals, plus plenty of activities, outings and transportation. Management has been responsive and supportive; it's a caring, active community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Gull Creek elicits strongly mixed impressions across reviewers. Many families praised the direct-care teams, activity staff, and parts of the physical campus: reviewers commonly cited an active, varied activities program with frequent outings, an engaged recreation director, on-site salon services, pleasant dining-room ambiance, and attractive common areas and outdoor garden spaces. Several reviewers described private, updated apartments and timely maintenance or housekeeping when staff levels permitted. These operational strengths contribute to a welcoming social environment and meaningful day-to-day engagement for many residents.

At the same time, recurrent operational concerns appear across reviews. Staffing stability and adequate staffing levels are a consistent theme: reviewers described high turnover and periods of short staffing that affected responsiveness. These staffing challenges are linked to care-quality issues noted by families, including medication-administration errors and delays, inconsistent clinical follow-up after falls or other health events, and mobility-assist/device-management problems. A number of families expressed specific worries about gaps in clinical assessment and follow-up care, which indicate uneven implementation of nursing protocols.

Dining and nutrition are another recurrent area of concern. Several reviewers reported inconsistent meal quality, limited menu variety, small portion sizes, reheated meals, and occasional failure to accommodate special dietary needs. While some families appreciated the dining-room service and found meals acceptable or above average, the pattern of variability suggests unreliable meal execution at times.

Activity programming and social engagement are clear strengths. The recreation team receives frequent, specific praise for creativity, outings, and one-on-one engagement in memory care. Transportation services and organized trips are noted positively and contribute to residents’ social life and community connection.

Facility condition and environment are described mostly positively in public spaces, with multiple comments about updated decor, pleasant grounds, and ongoing renovations. However, reviewers also cited small apartment bathrooms and bedrooms in some units, inconsistent housekeeping in individual apartments, and navigation/layout challenges that may affect residents with cognitive impairment.

Management and financial transparency are mixed and merit close scrutiny during a tour. While several reviewers praised responsive directors and smooth admissions processes, others described billing disputes, unexpected facility fees, rent increases, and perceived cost-driven service changes. These financial and administrative issues were a frequent source of family dissatisfaction. Additionally, a few families raised serious allegations regarding unauthorized removal from a secure memory unit and concerns about record-keeping and power-of-attorney handling; those claims should be discussed directly with leadership and, if necessary, followed up with the appropriate oversight authorities.

Overall pattern and guidance: Gull Creek appears to provide a strong social and activity environment with many caring direct-care staff and attractive communal spaces, but operational inconsistencies—especially around staffing, medication management, dining reliability, and administrative transparency—create variable experiences. Prospective residents and families should schedule an in-person visit at different times of day, ask for current staffing ratios and turnover metrics, review medication and incident-reporting procedures, clarify contract language on fees and rent increases, and observe meal service. For residents with mid-to-late stage dementia or higher clinical needs, families should specifically evaluate nursing resources, fall-followup processes, and layout/navigation supports before committing.

    About Gull Creek

Gull Creek serves seniors aged 55 and over with a range of care options, including assisted living, independent living, home care, respite care, elderly health care, and memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia in its Treasure Cove Memory Care neighborhood, which is designed to provide safety and therapy for residents who need extra support, with specialized programs to reduce confusion and prevent wandering. Studio, single, two-bedroom, and semi-private apartments are available with kitchenettes, cable, internet, and high-speed WiFi, and residents can expect room service, laundry, and housekeeping, along with meals, special diets, and a bistro dining area if that's more comfortable. The community has indoor and outdoor areas for socializing, such as patios, gardens, a recreation room, arts and crafts space, a computer area, and a place for group story time, game nights, lectures, and even a resident musical group; on top of that, there's a cooking club and common rooms with TVs, with senior centers and support groups for those who need them, and devotional services on-site and off-site for spiritual needs.

Residents get assistance with daily activities like bathing, dressing, medication management, grooming, and meals, with help coming from experienced staff available all the time, plus there's a nurse on-site, skilled nursing, an on-site pharmacy, health checks, liquid nutrition supplements, and medical equipment for those who need extra care, and outside physical therapists and mental health services are available too. Free transportation for medical appointments, errands, shopping, and other outings is on hand, with parking for guests and residents, and pets are allowed within the rules, while guests can stay overnight and join residents for meals if they want to. The facility supports veterans and offers VA benefits help, guardianship assistance, and legal guidance for older adults, as well as elder abuse support, protective services, and an abuse hotline, so residents and their families can feel a bit more secure. Social and recreational activities, both inside and outside the community, are meant to keep everyone active and connected, and the staff supports wellness however they can with therapy, a beautician and barber shop, readings and computer assistance for people with disabilities, and nutrition counseling, because Gull Creek wants people to live as independently and comfortably as possible in a welcoming and safe community.

Residents pay rent and an entry fee, and the facility accepts checks. It's state-licensed and located close to hospitals, doctors, rehab centers, shops, and restaurants for convenience, and its aim is to help seniors hold onto their wellness, independence, dignity, and sense of community while offering the practical support and social engagement they need.
