    Caring staff helped regain mobility

I'm very pleased with the caring, considerate staff and responsive communication - it's easy to check on my mom and the front desk and Lanessa team are always helpful. Caregivers provide personalized attention (nails, Zoom visits), nurses and rehab helped her regain mobility with a walker, and the recreation team keeps her engaged with creative programs and weekly photos. The facility is clean and well-kept, with art and live music visits, and a calm, capable manager in Steven - I'm thankful for the high-quality, attentive care.

    Summary of reviews

Lanessa Extended Care presents a mixed picture for prospective residents and families. Many comments praise the direct-care staff — nurses, nursing assistants, rehabilitation therapists, and activity personnel — for being compassionate, professional, and effective. Several families cited measurable clinical improvements (for example, regained mobility with therapy), strong support from a nurse practitioner, and personalized touches such as individualized social contact and virtual visits. The facility’s activity program is a consistent strength in these accounts: creative programming, live musical visits, multicultural recognition events, and frequent photographic updates contribute to resident engagement and social connection.

At the same time, reviewers identify recurring operational weaknesses that have clinical and experiential consequences. Staffing levels are described as inconsistent, with coverage sometimes reduced during holidays or peak times; that pattern is associated with delays in attending to residents, missed clinical tasks, and uneven personal-care scheduling (bathing and dressing). Several accounts point to medication-administration and follow-through gaps, along with delays in diagnostic testing and clinical follow-up. Those clinical process issues are complemented by reported deficiencies in safety practices — limited fall-prevention measures and sometimes nonfunctional call-response equipment — which together increase the potential for adverse incidents.

Communication and management responsiveness emerge as a separate theme. While some families find front-desk staff and individual caregivers responsive, others describe difficulty reaching administrative or clinical leadership and poor follow-up on concerns. This inconsistency appears to affect case transitions (for example, evaluation-period stays that extend past expectations), dietary needs, and escalation of clinical concerns. Housekeeping and facility upkeep are noted positively in many accounts (clean floors, attentive housekeeping), but there are also reports of variable cleanliness and sanitation standards across different units or time periods.

For families considering Lanessa Extended Care, the trade-offs are relatively clear: direct-care staff, therapy services, and the activity program can provide meaningful quality-of-life benefits, especially when staffing and leadership are functioning well. However, prospective residents and their representatives should ask targeted questions about current staffing ratios (including holiday and weekend coverage), medication-administration protocols, fall-prevention measures and equipment, call-response reliability, dietary management, and the facility’s processes for family communication and clinical escalation. Arranging an on-site tour during an activity period, meeting the nursing leadership and therapy team, and requesting recent staffing and incident-response information can help assess whether the facility’s operational reliability matches the individual resident’s care needs.
