    About Parrish Adult Foster Care

Parrish Adult Foster Care served as a small certified assisted living community in Bangor, Michigan, focused on providing care for seniors and adults with developmental or physical disabilities, but you know, it only had space for two residents, which really made it feel more like a home than anything else, with everyone getting to know each other and staff having the time to work closely with every person, and Sherry Parrish ran things steadily while always keeping an eye on daily needs. Staff members helped with activities like bathing, dressing, and moving around, and there was help for medication management, too, so nobody had to worry much about missing something important. Twenty-four hour supervision made sure everybody stayed safe, and the building itself had safety features and was wheelchair accessible, with private ADA bathrooms so getting around and feeling comfortable wasn't a problem for anyone. People who needed help because of age, disabilities, or memory challenges like dementia and Alzheimer's could get custom care plans, and if someone had diabetes or allergies, the staff would prepare meals to fit those needs, and they'd even handle special dietary restrictions, which really does matter. Residents got meals served in the dining area, and there were other nice touches like furnished rooms, laundry and housekeeping services, a barbershop, help with moving in, an exercise and fitness room, arts and crafts, and movie nights, so life had a bit of activity and color, not to mention birthday parties and life enrichment programs that kept the mood up. Things like a fall prevention class helped folks stay on their feet, and with panic buttons in the rooms, everyone got some added peace of mind. There were community amenities like gardens, walking paths, decks, and gathering spaces where folks could get some air or visit with family, and transportation and on-site parking meant getting to appointments wasn't too hard most days. Parrish Adult Foster Care worked closely with outside healthcare providers, did health monitoring, and ran scheduled health checks, which kept families in the loop about changes. The home operated under Michigan license AF800087344 from July 2022, served both ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents, and could provide specialized caregivers for memory care, and group activities kept things from feeling too quiet, which everyone liked. Even though the facility closed in March 2024, it offered a close-knit, supportive environment where people got the kind of help and attention they needed.
