    Clean modern secure caring staff

I placed my mom here for a short stay and was very pleased. The place is clean, modern and secure with nice outdoor grounds and an enclosed deck. The staff are kind, sweet and genuinely caring-mom felt loved, comfortable and at home; residents clearly adore them. Warm, homelike atmosphere with pleasant cooking smells and thoughtful touches (donuts for everyone) - overall a great experience and I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed, with a strong and consistent appreciation for the quality of personal care and the interpersonal environment, contrasted by notable concerns about the physical condition of the building and occasional issues with staff professionalism. Many reviewers emphasize that Redwood Manor offers a warm, family-like atmosphere where residents feel loved, safe, and comfortable. At the same time, several concrete maintenance and operational shortcomings were repeatedly mentioned, suggesting variability in facility upkeep and management oversight.

Care quality and daily support are among the most frequently praised elements. Multiple reviewers explicitly call the caregivers compassionate, kind, and caring; family members report that their loved ones were happy, comfortable, and treated like family. Privacy is mentioned as being respected, and the environment is regularly described as homelike rather than institutional. Several anecdotes (for example, residents referred to staff as "angels" or positive reactions to small gestures like donuts being offered) reinforce an image of attentive, person-centered caregiving. Reviewers also note that staff are accommodating and supportive, which contributes strongly to the facilityโ€™s warm atmosphere.

Staff behavior and professionalism show a mixed picture. On the positive side, reviewers consistently mention welcoming and friendly staff who contribute to a family environment. However, a recurring concern is staff gossiping, complaining about co-workers, and talking about residentsโ€”behaviors that raise privacy and professionalism issues. These comments suggest that while one-on-one caregiving is viewed positively, there may be intermittent lapses in workplace culture or supervision that affect how staff interact in communal spaces.

Facility condition and maintenance are clear areas of concern and variability. Several reviews praise the facility as clean, modern, secure, and in good repair, noting pleasant outdoor grounds, an enclosed deck, and spacious rooms. In direct contrast, other reviews describe the facility as run down, explicitly noting dirty carpet, taped carpet seams, and a handicap ramp safety issue caused by loose boards. Dark hallways and ongoing remodeling were also mentioned. Taken together, these observations indicate uneven maintenance: some parts of the building or phases of occupancy appear well-kept while other areas need attention or recent repairs.

Dining and the general homelike environment earn positive remarks. Reviewers mention the pleasant smell of cooking and a warm family-style atmosphere around meals, which reinforces the sense of a residential rather than institutional setting. Small social touches (e.g., donuts for residents) are cited as examples of the staffโ€™s personable approach.

Activities and programming are noted as a shortcoming by multiple reviewers. While the care and living environment are comfortable, several people said they would like more activities and outings. This suggests that social and engagement programming may be limited or uneven and could be improved to better meet resident needs and family expectations.

Management and operations show mixed signals. Some reviewers report accommodating staff and consistent pricing across levels of service, which implies stable administrative policies. Conversely, reports of staff gossip and maintenance issues (and the fact that remodeling is ongoing) point to areas where management attention is neededโ€”specifically around staff training/supervision, maintenance prioritization, and activity programming. The presence of both positive and negative comments about cleanliness and repair suggests that improvements may be happening in phases or that quality varies by wing or unit.

In summary, Redwood Manorโ€™s strongest and most consistent asset is its caregiving staff and the warm, homelike culture they create; residents and families often feel cared for and comfortable. The most significant weaknesses are physical plant issues and occasional lapses in staff professionalism, plus limited activities. For prospective residents and families, the reviews suggest the facility is a good fit if personal, compassionate care and a family atmosphere are top priorities, but it would be prudent to tour the property in person, inspect areas of concern (carpeting, ramps, hallways), ask about recent or planned repairs and remodeling timelines, and inquire about staff training and activity programming to ensure those issues have been addressed or are being actively managed.

    About Redwood Manor Assisted Living

Redwood Manor Assisted Living sits in Burton, MI, offering a quiet country setting with an outdoor gazebo and deck for fresh air. People can find private living spaces here for women, though men are also accepted, and staff keep things feeling homey, safe, and very clean, which makes it feel more like a family home than a big institution. The staff give personal care if needed and are known to be friendly and helpful. Residents can bring their pets, which is nice for people who want the company of animals, and there's a strict no-smoking policy anywhere indoors. The place has barrier-free features to help those who use wheelchairs or have trouble walking, and safety is a big focus with things like a sprinkler system and simple layouts designed for easy access.

People here get help with daily activities, like bathing or managing medication, and there's care for those with higher needs, diabetic care, incontinence support, and even memory care for folks dealing with Alzheimer's or dementia. Nurses are always available and healthcare is supported by a podiatrist, hospice care if needed, and therapy services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. A nurse's on call for any health needs that come up.

On the fun side, Redwood Manor has a fitness center, a game and activities room, a salon/barbershop, and a community room where people gather. Residents can get involved in arts and crafts, social and educational programs, life skills activities, and worship services. There's an award-winning schedule too, with activities meant to include everyone-mentally, physically, and emotionally-keeping folks busy and connected. For eating, meals are made with nutrition in mind and served in a communal dining room, but some rooms have their own kitchens or kitchenettes for those who like to cook a bit.

Other useful bits include transportation to appointments and shopping, guest and resident parking, Wi-Fi and cable TV for each room, and washers and dryers available. Staff handle laundry and housekeeping duties, with maintenance and safety always a top concern. Redwood Manor accepts pets, offers guest parking, and keeps things tidy and organized. Accommodations come in a few styles to match what each person wants or needs. This facility focuses on giving each person individualized care while letting them keep their independence as much as possible. Activities, helpful staff, and a cozy atmosphere help make Redwood Manor a comfortable spot for senior women-and men, too-who want a little help but still want their own space and a friendly place to call home.
