    Caring staff and homey community

I'm very pleased with this senior living community. The staff are consistently kind, caring and attentive to medical, physical and emotional needs; rehab/therapy support is strong and emergency response is quick. The atmosphere feels like home - engaged activities, plenty of outdoor space, on-site salon, good meals, and family-friendly communication - I recommend touring it for yourself.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for this assisted living community present a mixed picture: many families praise the staff, programs, and physical setting, while others describe operational and clinical inconsistencies that warrant investigation before placement.

Care quality and staffing: Numerous accounts highlight compassionate, attentive caregivers and CNAs, positive nursing interactions, and specific staff members who engage personally with residents. The facility also offers on-site clinical supports — rehabilitation, wound care, and speech therapy — that several families found helpful in post-acute or healing situations. However, there is clear variability across shifts and individuals. Concerns cited include delayed responses to call lights and toileting needs, inconsistencies in medication administration and documentation, and occasional failures to follow individualized care plans for residents with specific medical needs. A few reviews contain serious allegations of injury and concerns following a resident's death; these are significant and should prompt direct inquiry with the provider and any relevant oversight bodies.

Dining and nutrition: The community offers social dining events and special meals (for example, cookouts) that families enjoyed. Conversely, other accounts describe irregular meal-service timing, occasional closures or re-routing of kitchen service (linked to infection-control measures), and dissatisfaction with meal quality. Some reviewers asked for more consistent snack options in the evening and more reliable lunch delivery times. Prospective families should observe mealtime operations and ask about contingency plans for kitchen interruptions.

Activities and environment: The activities program is a consistent strength in many accounts — an engaged activities director, a busy activities room, daily programming, and opportunities for social engagement were frequently mentioned. The facility's physical attributes were also praised: large private rooms, in-room entertainment and internet access, well-kept common areas, accessible outdoor courtyard space, and on-site salon/barber services. Note that some units have limited in-room bathing facilities and residents may need to use communal shower areas; residents are also expected to provide certain small appliances for their rooms.

Management and operations: Administrative experiences are mixed. Several families described cooperative, communicative administrators and helpful maintenance staff. Others reported billing discrepancies, confusion around waivers and admission charges, lost clinical orders or lab follow-up, and inadequate tracking of personal items. Communication gaps between staff and families were a recurring theme, especially during periods of restricted visitation. Visitor check-in procedures and COVID-era controls were described as cumbersome by some family members.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is variability — many strong, person-centered experiences coexist with operational weaknesses in medication controls, documentation, meal continuity, responsiveness to call lights, and administrative accuracy. For families considering this community, a focused tour and direct questions are advisable: observe a mealtime, ask to review how medications and clinical orders are managed, inquire about staffing levels by shift and call-response times, confirm billing and waiver procedures in writing, and ask about processes for tracking belongings and handling sanitation/linen change schedules. Given the presence of serious, individual allegations in a few accounts, families should also request information about incident reporting, recent surveys or citations, and how the facility handles clinical escalation and family notification.

About Majestic Care of Flushing Assisted Living

Majestic Care of Flushing Assisted Living sits in a quiet suburb northwest of Detroit, over by Flushing County Golf Club and Flushing County Park, where the air feels a little fresher and the place feels tucked away from too much noise. The building's a single-story with simple brick trim, and the grounds stretch out with green acreage along a private drive, so residents get peace and some space to breathe. This facility serves folks ages 55 and up who need extra help with daily things like getting dressed, bathing, or taking medicine, but still want to hold onto their independence and have their own space. Staff, called the Care Team, stay on-site around the clock-every hour of every day-making sure someone is always there for help or support.

Accommodations come spacious and private, giving residents the comfort and room they need, and there's always an effort to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Meals get prepared and served daily, beautiful indoor and outdoor common areas provide places to gather or relax, and there's an onsite beautician to help with hair and nails. Household chores like cleaning, laundry, and maintenance get taken care of. Residents can join recreational activities, faith services both at the facility and offsite, educational classes, and outings, all aiming to keep people social and involved. The community offers Wi-Fi, easy access for wheelchairs, patios, and gardens, and even allows close pets, which can make a place feel more like home.

The care team provides support with everyday needs, medication management, and personal care, and there's always a licensed nurse available onsite. The facility offers specialized care for Alzheimer's, hospice support, respite care, and therapy services too, including wound care and speech therapy, and they've got programs like CALD renewal and refresher courses and an Assisted Living Medication Management program. Payments accepted include long-term care insurance, Medicaid, private pay, and VAVAAA. The staff works hard to build a community atmosphere, encourage friendships, and make life feel meaningful. The whole setup focuses on helping each resident stay as independent, safe, and comfortable as possible, with a little bit of extra help always nearby when it's needed.
