    Spotless community with excellent amenities

I moved my mom here and we're very happy - spotless, bright apartments and beautiful grounds, excellent dining (top chefs, good choices), and nonstop activities from music nights to outings and bingo. The staff are warm, attentive and knowledgeable, nursing and administration are responsive, and amenities (salon, therapy, library, shuttle) make life easy. It feels like a well-run, welcoming community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Village Manor presents as a well-kept, bright retirement community with a clearly defined social atmosphere. Many reviewers highlight the facility’s cleanliness, updated interiors, abundant natural light, and well-maintained grounds and courtyards. Apartments and common areas (lobby, dining rooms, library, activity rooms, salons) are frequently described as spacious and accessible; private gathering spaces, patios, and balcony views contribute to a residential feel rather than an institutional one.

Staff and clinical care receive largely positive descriptions: caregivers are commonly characterized as warm, compassionate, and engaged, and families frequently cite attentive bedside care and supportive end-of-life/hospice involvement. The community also maintains on-site medical services and visiting physicians, which reviewers found convenient. However, a recurring operational concern is staffing consistency. Reviewers reference turnover, reduced overnight/weekend supervision, and delays in responding to nursing calls or medication timing, which translate into a pattern of variable responsiveness during certain shifts.

Dining is a notable strength for many families: a dedicated culinary team, multiple meal choices, and large portions earn praise, and special events and restaurant-style dining are mentioned positively. That said, reviewers also describe inconsistent meal-service execution—items arriving at suboptimal temperature, occasional lapses in meal coordination, and variable menu quality. Prospective residents should evaluate daily meal-service logistics and dietary accommodations during a visit.

The activity program is robust and frequently cited as a positive differentiator. Regular programming includes live music, piano, bingo, arts and crafts, excursions, movie nights, and scheduled outings to shops and appointments. These offerings support social engagement and an active community life, and families commonly report that residents form friendships and remain socially involved.

Operational and management patterns show both strengths and items requiring scrutiny. Admissions, tour staff, and executive leadership receive positive notes for transparency and helpfulness, and flexible month-to-month leasing is available. Conversely, reviewers flag maintenance reliability issues (for example, elevator or entry-door outages) and technology limitations such as poor cell or internet reception. There are also recurring concerns about pricing versus perceived value and the facility’s clinical limits: marketing may emphasize an active independent-living lifestyle while the community may be less equipped for sustained high-acuity medical needs. A few reviewers raised more serious allegations related to admission/termination decisions; such claims warrant direct, documentable inquiry during the tour and contract review.

Recommendation for families: Village Manor appears to be a strong fit for independent and low-assistance residents who prioritize community life, dining, and activities in a clean, well-maintained setting. For those with progressive or complex medical needs, verify clinical staffing patterns (especially weekend and overnight coverage), medication-administration procedures, and the facility’s discharge/transfer policies. Ask about average staff tenure and turnover, sick-time and scheduling practices, meal-service timing and temperature controls, maintenance response protocols, and connectivity options before committing.

    About Village Manor Retirement

Village Manor Retirement offers both Independent Living and Assisted Living options in a two-story building right next to the Hartland Senior Center, and the staff aim to keep things friendly, helpful, and kind, which folks notice right away when they visit. The apartments come in studio, one, and two-bedroom sizes, and you'll find options for barrier-free living, with features like private bathrooms, kitchen areas, roomy closets, plenty of storage, and even patios or balconies on select apartments, which is handy for a bit of fresh air, and some units face a courtyard. There's Wi-Fi and high-speed internet, so staying connected is easy for everyone, and the building stays clean, so you won't get that nursing home smell that drives people away sometimes.

Inside, there are several cozy lounge spaces for relaxing or chatting, plus a big dining area with an endless balcony where you'll see residents walking laps and socializing during the day. Meals are important here, and an Executive Chef and meal planners make sure every day brings chef-prepared dishes using quality ingredients, and special diets like heart healthy, gluten sensitive, or food allergy needs are taken seriously and can be arranged. Every day you'll see a full line-up of activities, planned by a professional Activities Director who keeps things interesting with entertainment, outings, and special events, and all of it gets included in the monthly rent.

Village Manor Retirement offers no long-term leases or buy-in rules, with a simple month-to-month rental agreement, and the rent covers three meals daily, utilities, weekly housekeeping, flat linen service, and transportation for shopping or doctor visits. Staff members are around 24/7 and there's a registered nurse overseeing care, ready to provide support with whatever residents might need, and care can be adjusted for individual needs as situations change. Folks looking for a short stay can use respite care, and the staff are glad to show visitors around during tours, sometimes including lunch so people get a good feel for the place, with an online gallery too for seeing what the apartments look like ahead of time. Village Manor Retirement is a family-owned facility with verified licensing and a strong focus on helping people live well and maintain independence in their retirement years.
