    Caring, family-like Christian assisted living

I'm very happy with the care I receive here. The staff are caring, friendly and on-site 24/7 - meds, grooming and personal care are handled reliably. Meals are home-cooked and improved, activities (art, music, dog therapy, community events) keep us engaged, and the property is beautiful with animals. It feels like a safe, family-like, Christian home with an attentive owner and manager - I'd definitely recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews convey a largely positive view of care quality and the day-to-day environment. Families and residents repeatedly emphasize attentive, compassionate staff and a home-like, family atmosphere supported by around-the-clock on-site caregiving. The presence of management and ownership on-site is highlighted as a stabilizing factor, and clinical supports such as timely medication administration and transfer equipment (Hoyer lift) are described as available.

Care and staff: Staff are described as caring, responsive, and personal in their interactions; several reviewers singled out specific caregivers and managers for praise. The facility appears to provide a broad set of personal-care services including medication administration, grooming, bathing, and toileting assistance. Staffing levels are perceived as sufficient by many reviewers, with 24/7 coverage noted. The tone of feedback about staff is consistently positive, with the facility characterized as family-like and supportive.

Dining and daily living services: Meals are included and described as home-cooked; some reviewers noted recent improvements in meal quality and portioning. Reviewers indicate that basic daily needs and supports are provided as part of the care package. Prospective residents should verify which meal options and any special-diet accommodations are included in the contract.

Activities and programs: The program mix is a clear strength for many reviewers — offerings mentioned include art and music programs, dog-therapy visits, intergenerational events (Children Helping Seniors), and body-and-mind wellness activities. These programs contribute to a stimulating environment for residents with cognitive impairment. That said, activity availability and frequency appear to vary across stays: a subset of feedback requests additional or more consistent activities, indicating uneven program delivery at times.

Facilities and environment: The setting is described as attractive and homelike, with common living areas (TV and piano), a dining room and kitchen, and outdoor features noted as pleasant (sheep and chickens on the grounds). Cleanliness and upkeep receive positive mentions. Rooming is mixed: private rooms are available but many residents are in double-occupancy rooms, which may affect privacy preferences.

Management and transparency: Management presence and an accessible manager are cited positively, but some reviewers raised concerns about clarity of marketing and fee disclosures. Comments include instances where important details about cost or included services were not clearly communicated prior to move-in. These observations point to a need for clearer upfront explanations of pricing, contract terms, and which services are included versus billed separately.

Notable patterns and guidance for families: The dominant themes are strong interpersonal care, a homelike culture, and active programming when available. Areas to clarify during a visit include room-type availability (private versus shared), the written fee schedule and what is included in the base rate, and the current activity calendar. Asking for a copy of standard contract language, sample menus, and the daily activity schedule will help align expectations with the facility’s offerings.

    About Metacare Inc

META-CARE, operating under license number AM440418186 at 423 W Dryden Rd, Metamora, MI 48455, carried a license for adult foster care and homes for the aged from January 19, 2024, but closed its doors as of May 14, 2024, and provided a small, private house setting for up to 10 adults aged 55 and older, including those living with Alzheimer's, dementia, mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, and physical handicaps, and within this medium group home setting, residents could get help with daily living tasks like bathing or dressing, memory care with anti-wandering systems, medication management, and high-acuity care for recovery after illness or injury, while a licensed and trained staff gave round-the-clock support and provided hospice services for comfort and dignity toward the end of life. Residents got three meals a day, including kosher and vegetarian options, could gather in common indoor or outdoor areas, and had access to private rooms with private, wheelchair-accessible showers, and laundry and linen service were in-house, so people didn't have to worry about outside vendors for those necessities, and, for getting around, there was free transportation, paid rides, and connection to nearby public transport, so folks could keep some independence and visit town or medical appointments. For entertainment and connection, the home had arts and crafts, TV lounges, group activities, musical nights, and even on-site religious or devotional services for those who wanted them, and there were studio apartments, a beautician on-site, and accessible tubs for those with special needs, while the setting encouraged friendships and regular socializing. The community aimed to be warm and kind, with each person receiving personalized assisted living services, and the staff, all properly licensed by the state, treated everyone with compassion and patience. The financial side had options, accepting credit card and check payments, and residents could get help with VA benefits, cost assistance, and financial questions, and META-CARE also provided account management features online and support for privacy protections like Meta Pay and Meta AI, and allowed family to communicate with Messenger, Facebook Lite, and Instagram Threads. The focus at META-CARE was on maintaining independence and dignity, meeting each person's unique needs through a wide range of services, while offering comfort, safety, and respect every day.
