    Moved my mom; highly recommend

I toured and moved my mom in and I'm very pleased - the staff and on-site management are attentive, knowledgeable and responsive, and Gentile Transitions made move-in seamless. Apartments are clean, modern and well laid-out (I appreciated the roomy 2-bed/2-bath with den and in-unit laundry), and common areas - library, puzzle room, activity spaces - feel welcoming with active, resident-led events. Secure building, great location near shops and transit, friendly residents - I'd recommend this independent living community.

    Summary of reviews

The Lodge at Little Canada is an independent living community that many families find appealing for its location, amenities, and resident culture. The property combines recent interior updates — including new carpeting and paint — with practical features such as in-unit laundry, underground parking, and building security. Units and common areas are described as modern and tidy by many, and the facility is close to shopping, restaurants, and public transit, which supports an active, independent lifestyle.

Staff and daily-life supports receive consistent praise. Reviewers describe the office and maintenance teams as approachable and helpful, and specific managers are frequently cited as proactive and involved. The resident community is repeatedly characterized as friendly and engaged; resident-led activities and peer-run events are a central part of daily life. However, this is an independent living setting rather than a full-service assisted-living model: there is no regular meal program and residents generally prepare their own food. Occasional communal offerings, such as a manager-cooked breakfast or weekly bingo, supplement resident activities but do not replace the absence of an on-site dining service.

Programming and amenities are a clear strength. The community offers a variety of social and recreational options — movie nights, puzzles, bingo, a library, exercise equipment, and spaces for private events — and activity planning is often tailored to resident interest. Maintenance capabilities are noted positively in many accounts, with examples of quick repairs and bulb replacement. At the same time, reviewers also describe inconsistent maintenance response times and aging in-unit appliances or fixtures in some apartments. Building-system issues such as intermittent elevator reliability and exterior-deck repairs were raised as operational concerns.

Practical considerations for prospective residents include staffing patterns and contractual terms. Several comments indicate limited on-site staff hours (afternoon coverage only weekday pattern), which may affect availability of immediate assistance and services. Lease flexibility is constrained: there is no month-to-month option and contract breakage carries buyout or penalty fees. Other operational trade-offs include limited pet and storage options and occasional noise from a nearby busy street. Overall, The Lodge is presented as a well-liked independent community with strong peer engagement and involved managers, but families should weigh the lack of meal service, staffing-hours model, building-age maintenance items, and lease restrictions when assessing fit.
