    Welcoming well-run place with care

I toured and moved my loved one in quickly - staff and management were caring, helpful, and professional. Meals were excellent, the building is solid and quiet in a nice neighborhood with pleasant outdoor space, and the smaller community plus rehab/attached care options helped maintain independence and make new friends. Overall a very welcoming, well-run place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Chapel View Apartments presents as a smaller, community-oriented senior living option with several operational strengths and some areas of variability. Reviewers consistently highlight compassionate clinical staff, effective rehabilitation services, and a focus on preserving resident independence. The facility's attached skilled-care option and flexible a la carte services are notable for families seeking a continuum of care or customized support levels.

Care and staff: Many accounts emphasize caring, experienced caregivers and therapists who provide occupational and physical rehabilitation and individualized attention. This translated into successful transitions for several residents and meaningful support for independence. At the same time, there are repeated concerns about responsiveness — specifically delays answering call lights and inconsistencies in clinical follow-through (including wound care and therapy completion). There are also reports of gaps in the initial clinical intake process, such as delayed nurse assessments at move-in. Taken together, the pattern suggests generally capable clinical staff but with variable operational consistency that can affect continuity of care.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently described positively in terms of meal quality and on-site options; several reviewers praised the food and the dining experience when available. However, meal service is not uniformly included for all meals (dinner service in the dining room may be limited) and some residents incur extra charges for certain meal options. Socially, the smaller scale of the community appears to foster new friendships and a sense of belonging, which many families found beneficial.

Facilities and move-in: The building is characterized as a solid, older structure in a pleasant neighborhood with usable outdoor space. Apartments (one-bedroom units in particular) received positive comments for layout and livability, though room sizes are described as modest and some units have high windows with limited outside views. Move-in experiences vary: some residents reported a fast, well-coordinated placement and move-in within a short timeframe, while others experienced logistical hiccups during initial admission.

Management and notable patterns: Management and on-site leadership are generally viewed as attentive and engaged; multiple accounts note helpful managers and staff who work to address concerns. The dominant pattern across feedback is one of strong, resident-focused clinical capability and community atmosphere paired with operational variability — primarily in responsiveness, initial intake processes, and consistency of some clinical services. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility's strengths in personalized care, rehabilitation, and community feel against the potential for occasional service delays and the need to confirm specific expectations around dining, initial assessments, and room layout before move-in.

    About Chapel View Apartments

Chapel View Apartments sits in the quiet suburbs of Hopkins, Minnesota and it connects right to Augustana Chapel View Health Care Center, so folks get 24-hour medical care if they need it and the setup means you can move between independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and even short-term rehab all right there without having to adjust to a new place each time you need something else, which can be comforting as folks age. The place has studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens, and they've got some rooms all furnished if you want that, plus community-style meals in a dining room with options for allergies and diabetes, and even an on-site grocery store so you don't always have to go out for your basics. There's a lot going on, with community rooms, lending library, lounges, TV rooms, game rooms, business and fitness space, a spa, group classes, a chapel, scheduled events, movie nights, and outdoor patios plus a sensory garden where folks can just sit and enjoy a good day. Residents who've needed more help can get assisted living services, so things like bathing, dressing, help with medicine, meals, housekeeping, laundry, and the staff make personalized care plans after a nurse does an assessment to see what's needed, and they even offer non-ambulatory care and help with transfers if moving around starts to get tough. Memory care folks get their own structured daily programs with crafts, music, exercise, spiritual support, and the staff to resident ratio means workers can spend more time with each person, individualized for memory care, and there's on-site medical and therapy services too. The place has a 24-hour emergency alert and call system in every apartment, so you can get help quickly if you need it, and transportation is free if you want to get out for appointments or errands, which helps with independence. Folks can bring pets, depending on the rules, and there's a beauty salon and barber shop on-site, plus housekeeping and even dry cleaning, and they've got regular activities like exercise classes and social events to help people stay active and not feel isolated. Chapel View also has adult day services for people living at home who need some care during the day, as well as skilled nursing and hospice care on campus for those with more complex or end-of-life needs. The staff get good reviews for being kind and helpful, and services are all in English. The apartments and common areas have WiFi, and everything is licensed by the state so it's got oversight. The whole place is set up so you can age without big changes, moving from independent living to more help as needed, and they've made sure things like dining, housekeeping, special diets, and emergency response are all part of the regular routine.
