    Friendly staff, excellent rehab care

I spent six weeks here for rehab after surgery and was very pleased - the staff were consistently friendly, caring, and helpful, and Cheryl was always on the spot with prompt assistance. Residents are kind, recovery support and care were excellent; I would highly recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Valley View Health & Rehabilitation present a polarized picture, with many families and short-term residents praising the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation capabilities and the compassion of individual staff members, while other accounts describe persistent operational problems that have affected long-term care outcomes. The facility appears to deliver notably positive short-term rehab experiences for some patients โ€” reviewers mentioned attentive therapy teams, helpful nursing staff during recovery, and successful post-surgical progress โ€” but longer-stay care accounts raise more substantive clinical and procedural concerns.

Care quality: Positive accounts emphasize effective rehab programming and staff who facilitate recovery. Conversely, several reviewers described clinical lapses consistent with systemic gaps: pressure-injury development, recurrent urinary infections, dehydration, falls that resulted in injury, and one or more cases progressing to severe infection. These descriptions suggest inconsistent implementation of monitoring, wound-prevention, hydration, and infection-prevention protocols rather than uniformly applied standards of care.

Staff and responsiveness: Staff behavior is described inconsistently. Many reviewers praised individual caregivers as kind, professional, and prompt; particular staff members were singled out as especially helpful. At the same time, frequent comments point to understaffing, long waits for assistance, slow responses to call lights, and occasional concerns about the tone or conduct of certain employees. These mixed reports indicate variability in shift staffing and supervision that affects resident experience.

Dining and activities: Several reviewers reported poor food quality and meals served at inconsistent temperatures. There is limited information about the breadth of recreational programming in these summaries; however, positive remarks about a welcoming resident community indicate social benefits for some residents. Prospective residents may want to ask specifically about menu planning, meal delivery protocols, and scheduled activities during a visit.

Facilities and maintenance: Multiple accounts raise sanitation and maintenance concerns in resident rooms and shared areas, as well as issues with phone availability and communication systems. Busy phone lines and worries about emergency responsiveness were mentioned; these are operational issues that could affect family communication and urgent-care handling.

Management and organization: There are repeated comments about perceived poor management, restricted access to external physicians, and a chaotic or disorganized atmosphere at times. Reviewers referenced visitation limitations during infection-control periods, which aligns with pandemic-era policies; however, some families experienced communication shortfalls related to those restrictions. At the same time, a number of staff characterize the facility as a good place to work, which suggests internal variation in leadership perceptions.

Notable patterns and guidance: The reviews show a clear split between positive short-term rehab experiences and concerning long-term care patterns. Where clinical or sanitation issues are alleged, they tend to cluster around staffing, monitoring, and protocol adherence rather than isolated interpersonal incidents. Families considering Valley View should schedule an in-person tour, observe staffing levels on different shifts, ask for details on staffing ratios, wound- and infection-prevention protocols, call-light response times, medication-administration procedures, fall-prevention strategies, emergency-response plans, physician access, and recent state inspection findings. Requesting references from recent short-term rehab patients and long-term residentsโ€™ families can also help to clarify which experiences are most typical.

About Valley View Health & Rehabilitation

Valley View Health & Rehabilitation sits on East Rollins Street in Moberly, Missouri, and people know it as a provider of skilled nursing and rehabilitation care for both long-term and short-term needs, sharing an address with Loma Linda Nursing Home, and being affiliated with Reach Ltc. This place has 96 certified beds with about 77 residents staying on average each day, and takes both Medicare and Medicaid, making it more widely accessible to folks. The building is run by a corporation that operates as an LLC and has an administrator named Michelle Perkins, offering both medical and nonmedical services under one roof, including help with daily living for people who can't easily do things by themselves. Specialized care at Valley View covers things like hospice, inpatient rehab, wound care, IV antibiotic therapy, occupational and physical therapy, respiratory and speech therapy, nutrition management, pain management, mental health, and even optometry and dentistry, so a lot of different needs get managed all in one place. You'll find recreational activities, an activities room, a beauty salon and barbershop, and special spaces for both a resident council and a family council, so residents and their loved ones have ways to share concerns and ideas. They've got programs for short term rehab if someone needs care between the hospital and home, and they also provide transportation for appointments and outings.

Valley View lists an average nurse staffing of 3.33 hours per resident per day and a nurse turnover rate of 57.3%, with registered and medical staff on-site to offer various types of nursing and personal care, which can be important for those needing regular attention. The place focuses on creating a home-like feeling, and offers guidance on long-term care, family caregiving, and insurance for those trying to plan ahead. While Valley View has earned a reported 3.8-star rating from 15 reviews and a B-minus inspection grade, it's also true that state inspections have found some areas needing work, especially when it comes to keeping the place accident-free, honoring dignity and resident rights, and providing proper supervision and quality care for people who need more help each day, along with some infection control issues noted in reports. However, they also have infection protection services in place and keep working to improve for the safety and comfort of their residents. The facility takes pride in saying they try to make everyone feel like part of a special family and are focused on changing how nursing home care is seen across Missouri, aiming for compassion and ethics in what they do. Residents can take part in social experiences, classes, and a range of activities, and for anyone considering a skilled nursing home in the Moberly area that covers both complex health and daily living needs, Valley View Health & Rehabilitation presents itself as an option with many kinds of assistance available, though like most places, it still works through its share of challenges and areas for growth.
