    Warm community, excellent dementia care

I placed my mom here for post-op hip rehab and dementia care and was very impressed - excellent admin and loving, responsive staff who made it feel like family. Physical therapy, CNA support, regular baths and attentive, friendly chats helped her thrive; residents are affectionate and the community is warm. Meals were a pleasant surprise, Medicaid is accepted, the administrator is improving, and I would return and visit often.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Kalispell Rehab & Nursing present a mixed picture with clear strengths alongside recurring operational concerns. Positive accounts emphasize personalized clinical attention, effective physical-therapy and post-operative rehabilitation, and individual staff members who demonstrate compassion and social engagement. Several families describe a community feeling and specific nurses or CNAs who build strong rapport with residents; some reviewers also note that administration has taken steps to improve processes.

At the same time, a consistent set of operational weaknesses appears across reviews. Medication management and timely administration are frequent areas of concern, with at least one account describing significant medication-related disputes. Staffing levels and workload strain are commonly cited and appear linked to delayed responses, missed care tasks, and variable personal-care delivery. Communication breakdowns between staff, physicians, and familiesโ€”along with inconsistent recordkeepingโ€”are reported repeatedly, making it difficult for families to stay informed about clinical changes.

Facility and environmental issues are another pattern. Several reviewers raised cleanliness and pest-control concerns in parts of the building, along with reports of lost clothing and other property-management problems. Dining experiences are inconsistent: some families praise attentive staff and acceptable food, while others describe late or low-quality meals. Equipment and room maintenance concerns (broken chairs, basic bed issues, nonfunctional TVs) were noted and tie back to broader maintenance and safety practices.

Safety and clinical escalation are areas to evaluate closely. Multiple accounts reference resident falls, emergency transfers, and coordination gaps following hospital visits; these reports point to opportunities to strengthen fall-prevention, transfer protocols, and post-ER follow-up. There are also serious family-level disputes around billing and financial-accountability; one reviewer indicated legal action related to medication and billing issues, highlighting the need to review financial practices and trust-account handling.

Overall, prospective residents and families may find high-quality, compassionate care in individual caregivers and therapy services at this facility, but they should balance that with the reported variability in staffing, medication practices, cleanliness, meal service, and operational oversight. Recommended steps for families considering placement include in-person visits at different times of day, direct questions about medication administration processes, fall-prevention protocols, staffing levels for the unit, property-loss safeguards, dining schedules, and recent corrective actions taken by administration. Regular follow-up and clear communication plans with staff can help monitor whether the facilityโ€™s positive elements are consistent and whether identified concerns are being addressed.
