    Loving staff and excellent amenities

I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased - the staff are loving, know residents by name, and truly go above and beyond. Apartments are spacious with full kitchens, the building, courtyard and entry are bright and spotless, and the food is excellent. There's a full activities calendar, transportation, guest apartments and strong friendships-a warm, locally owned community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Sunridge Village presents as an independent-living community with a strong emphasis on personal relationships, social programming, and apartment-style living. Residents and family members consistently describe a warm, friendly atmosphere where staff know residents by name, engage personally, and are willing to go beyond basic duties. The community benefits from hands-on, local ownership and staff who frequently receive praise for responsiveness and helpfulness. Many reviewers highlighted the social environment — strong friendships, organized music groups, and a full activity calendar — as a primary reason for resident satisfaction.

In terms of care and services, the community is oriented toward independent living rather than assisted care. Housekeeping, meal-preparation services, transportation to stores and outings, and an in-apartment med-alert system are in place and generally well regarded. However, the community has limited capacity to provide higher-level clinical or assisted-living services; health-aide availability appears uneven, with turnover and variable presence noted. Prospective residents who require regular clinical support or reliable aide coverage should evaluate alternatives or confirm specific staffing arrangements before committing.

Dining and programming are strengths for many residents. Food quality is frequently described as very good to excellent, with a continental breakfast service and organized meal times. The activity program is varied and active: games (Wii bowling, video arcade), movies, music groups (Sunridge Songbirds), sign-up activities, and regular shopping trips. These offerings, combined with community-provided transportation, support an engaged lifestyle for independent residents.

The physical plant is generally described as clean, bright, and well maintained. Apartments commonly include full kitchens and spacious layouts; some units offer two bathrooms and strong views. Outdoor amenities such as a courtyard and garden are appreciated. At the same time, reviewers noted aspects of the building that may not meet every preference: certain units sit farther from central activity areas, the facility shows some aging elements, and private balconies are limited. Parking exists underground, but access is described as challenging by some visitors.

Management features that may influence decision-making include a rent-rate lock-in after one year and a 25% apartment discount for eligible units; these were viewed positively by families budgeting for long-term residence. Cost, however, remains a consideration: some prospective residents found the community more expensive than desired compared with other local options. Other operational patterns to note are limited accommodations for specialized cardiac or other diet plans and a smoking-policy enforcement approach that has led to dissatisfaction in particular cases.

Overall, Sunridge Village appears well suited to independent older adults who prioritize social engagement, apartment living with in-unit kitchens, and a personable staff. Families should assess clinical-support needs carefully, confirm expectations around health-aide availability and specialized dietary accommodations, and visit multiple unit locations to select placement close to communal areas if proximity to the action is important.

    About Sunridge Village

Sunridge Village Independent Living Retirement Community offers seniors a place where they can live on their own while enjoying plenty of support and comfortable amenities, and you'll see there's always something happening for those who want to take part with lots of social activities like TV Bingo, Wii Bowling, exercise classes, and the Sunridge Songbirds singing group getting together. The apartments come in one- or two-bedroom layouts, and they all have full kitchens, washer and dryer hookups, walk-in closets, and even their own emergency backup generator for peace of mind during power outages, so you really do have all the basics covered, with housekeeping each week, all your utilities paid, and nothing tricky like entrance fees or confusing buy-ins-just one predictable monthly payment.

The community itself sits behind secure gates, has 24-hour staff on site, a call system, and GPS emergency pendants for safety, and there's even heated underground parking, which makes winters a bit easier. If you want to spend time outside, there's a landscaped courtyard with a pond and gazebo, gardens with raised beds, a putting green, and nice walking paths to enjoy, but you'll also find plenty of indoor spots to relax, like the library, computer room, coffee shop, craft room, and a game room with billiards and a theater. For meals, there's a main dining hall where everyone gathers for chef-prepared food, continental breakfasts, and special dietary options, and folks who like to cook still have their own kitchen in their apartment.

Sunridge Village arranges transportation for trips to shops, appointments, or local events, and the recreation coordinator keeps the calendar busy with outings, games, and cultural events, while group wellness classes and fitness rooms help everyone stay active if that's something they want. Residents have access to help with medication management, diabetic and incontinence care, and health aides are around, though this isn't an assisted living facility. Sunridge Village is family-owned and designed for people 55+, and you can bring your cat if you'd like since they're pet-friendly, and storage units or a guest apartment are available if needed, with all building and yard upkeep taken care of, so residents can travel for the season or stay put with as little worry as possible. The location makes it easy to get to groceries, restaurants, golf, and medical offices like Boys Town National Research Hospital and Midwest Eye Care PC, so most everything you might need is close by, and in the end, Sunridge Village tries to provide a simple, independent lifestyle with plenty of comfort, community, and activities for folks who want them.
