    Compassionate clean rehab excellent care

I had a very positive experience when my loved one stayed here for rehab - the facility is clean and beautiful, undergoing renovations to better serve future residents, and everyone treated us like family. Nurses Natalie and Alice and the CNAs were compassionate and smart, meds were on time, therapy was excellent with daily updates, plenty of activities and even dog-friendly visits; communication was great and the staff truly went above and beyond, so I highly recommend them.

    Summary of reviews

Silver Hills Health Care Center elicits highly mixed feedback. A substantial subset of families and residents praise the facility's rehabilitation offerings, noting strong physical and occupational therapy services, measurable functional gains, and several named caregivers and nurses who provided attentive, compassionate care. The campus features engaging daily activities, an outdoor courtyard, a welcoming exterior and lobby, and a family/pet-friendly visitation approach that many families appreciate. Case management and social work support are also cited positively in multiple accounts, and the facility's proximity to the hospital is a pragmatic advantage for some residents.

Counterbalancing those positives are repeated operational concerns. Staffing levels and shift coverage are described as inconsistent; reviewers describe long delays responding to call bells and phone messages, high nursing caseloads, and periods when night staffing and supervision were inadequate. These staffing challenges are associated with inconsistent medication timing and documentation, delays in clinical assessments, and limited physician oversight in some cases. Several accounts raise concerns about safety processes — including transfers, fall prevention, bed- and room-safety measures — and there are multiple references to pressure around admissions, discharge timing, and billing practices that warrant scrutiny.

Sanitation, infection-control, and maintenance are recurring themes. Reviewers described sanitation and pest-control concerns in resident rooms and common areas, odor concerns, issues with equipment upkeep, and dated infrastructure in portions of the facility. A number of families referenced problems with infection-control procedures and quarantine implementation. These issues, combined with inconsistent assistance for bathing and continence care, are linked in some accounts to consequent clinical complications and heightened family distress.

Dining and nutrition receive mixed feedback. Some residents found the dining and substitution options acceptable, but many families described inconsistent meal temperature and composition, carbohydrate-heavy offerings, and challenges meeting specialty diets such as diabetic needs. Food-service continuity and responsiveness to dietary restrictions emerge as operational areas for improvement.

Communication and management practices are another notable pattern. Families report variable responsiveness from administrative staff and case managers, difficulty obtaining timely updates, and inconsistent coordination during transitions of care. While some staff and leaders have been singled out for effective communication and improvement efforts, others are described as unhelpful or dismissive. Allegations of theft and questions about admission tactics appear in a limited number of accounts and suggest the need for careful review by prospective families.

In summary, Silver Hills shows strengths in rehabilitation programming, individual staff commitment, and family-friendly amenities, but the facility also demonstrates significant variability in day-to-day operations. Key areas for attention are staffing consistency, clinical oversight, medication practices, sanitation and infection-control, meal management, safety protocols, and transparent communication and billing processes. Prospective residents and families should weigh the positive rehabilitation outcomes and praised staff members against the operational risks described, and consider in-person visits, detailed questions about staffing and infection-control policies, and verification of current quality metrics before making placement decisions.

About Silver Hills Health Care Center

Silver Hills Health Care Center sits at 3450 N Buffalo Drive in Las Vegas, Nevada, and has 155 beds for skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, so folks coming out of the hospital who need short-term rehab before heading home will find a place here, along with people who might need more ongoing care because they're frail or need help with daily life, and the place really keeps things warm and welcoming, letting family and even pets come by if the administration gives the okay, with visiting hours running a good solid 12 hours a day from 8 in the morning to 8 at night. Silver Hills is a for-profit facility and maintains necessary industry accreditations and keeps up high standards in care which means they've gone through the proper checks, and if anybody's curious, they're members of the Nevada Health Care Association as well as partners with companies like Medline, PharMerica, Tahoe Supply, and others, so a lot of their supplies and care options get backed up by some pretty large outfits. They've gone through renovations recently to make things more comfortable and easier to get around in, so the place feels more updated, and honestly, a lot of folks mention how nice the outdoor landscaped areas look when they sit out on the patio or have group activities, which are scheduled every day so there's always something happening, and the staff does take the time to look after residents with personalized attention, including memory care and behavioral health solutions for those who might need more support with their thinking or moods.

The rooms come in both private and semi-private options, and they're pretty roomy with modern features like electric beds, bedside telephones, and cable television, because everyone likes a little comfort and entertainment, and there's also an internet café for those who want to keep up with family online or just enjoy browsing, plus a barbershop that's open from Tuesday to Friday to help people look fresh. Meals get served in the main dining area and in special rehab dining rooms, with a menu that tries to offer fresh, balanced meals each day, and residents have access to state-of-the-art therapy and equipment, with 24-hour care from a staff that's supervised by a Medical Director and other attending physicians, so whether someone needs skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy to help with talking, swallowing, or thinking, Silver Hills covers all that as part of their daily work. Social programs and structured daily activities help keep people connected and active, and there's even a main entrance lobby, care desk, and activity area so residents have a few choices about where to spend time during the day, and for those looking to move in or bring a loved one, admissions stay open 24 hours a day, and they offer guided tours to help families get to know the place beforehand. Altogether, Silver Hills Health Care Center combines modern amenities and a caring approach in a place that feels more home-like than clinical, which matters to a lot of people looking for more comfort as they age.
