    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture. Positive comments emphasize individual staff behaviors and certain clean, orderly resident spaces: visitors noted friendly, professional and helpful staff interactions, clean and tidy bedrooms, and well-kept day/recreation areas. Several families described staff who were timely and supportive when interacting with relatives and facilitating family needs.

At the facility level, however, recurring operational concerns are evident. The most consistent theme is inadequate staffing: reviewers cite too few nurses or nursing assistants on shift, single aides covering entire wings, and general delays in attending to residents. Those staffing shortfalls are linked to broader gaps in clinical monitoring and care continuity — examples in the reviews include hydration and delirium concerns, pressure-injury prevention failures, and infection-related events that necessitated ambulance transfers. Taken together, these items suggest weaknesses in routine clinical surveillance, wound and infection-prevention protocols, and post-incident coordination.

Environmental and service-delivery issues also appear. While bedrooms and some common areas are described as clean, other parts of the facility drew sanitation concerns, particularly bathrooms and the exterior facade. Kitchen operations were described as cluttered and disorganized, and the dining room was characterized as small and minimally furnished, which may affect mealtime experience and service flow. Crowding and limited common-area capacity were also mentioned and could exacerbate service and supervision challenges.

Family communication and management responsiveness are additional patterns to note. Reviewers reported inconsistent communication about clinical changes and care incidents, and some families chose to move their loved ones to other facilities with better perceived clinical oversight. Safety practices around transfers and mobility assistance were questioned, with accounts pointing toward inadequate staffing or training affecting safe transfers.

For prospective residents and families: weigh the evident strengths in staff demeanor and certain clean resident areas against operational concerns around staffing, clinical monitoring, kitchen and dining environment, and communication. If considering admission, request current staffing ratios, infection-prevention and wound-care protocols, transfer and mobility-assistance training policies, and examples of family communication procedures. An in-person visit during different shifts (including evenings/weekends) and specific questions about recent clinical incidents and staffing stability will help clarify whether the facility’s operational performance meets your expectations.

About Morrison Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living

Morrison Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living sits in the White Mountains region of New Hampshire and runs as part of The Morrison Communities, which means there's a mix of housing and care options depending on what someone might need as they age. The place offers independent living apartments and cottages for people able to live on their own without a lot of help, and there's the Sartwell Place Assisted Living section, which gives support for daily tasks like bathing or taking medicine, along with memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia and the extra support they need to feel safe and comfortable. Morrison also has skilled nursing care available at all hours, plus different kinds of therapy, such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy, both for people staying for a while or just coming in for outpatient rehab.

At Morrison, people get their own space if they want, with choices between private or semi-private rooms that have their own bathrooms, along with things like cable TV, Wi-Fi, and phone service. There's a program that brings three meals each day made with nutrition in mind, and snacks are part of the routine, and they offer things like guest meals, special dining options, even vegetarian room service for those who want it. The community aims to be homey and welcoming, with staff that many folks have called hard working, helpful, and friendly, always trying to make everyone feel like they belong, bringing awards for care, activities, and friendliness.

There's help for people who need medical care, such as medication management, wound and IV therapy, diabetic care, and high acuity support, and incontinence or non-ambulatory care, as well as some alternative therapies, like Reiki, aromatherapy, and pet visits. The place tries to keep folks busy and engaged, too, since they've got an arts and crafts area, a gym, gardens and a gazebo for getting outside, a salon for hairdressing, and a summer terrace, along with activities like fitness classes, bingo, cooking, workshops, music (even a resident music group), movie nights, church services, and community outings.

There's a lot of work to keep things as easy and comfortable as possible-daily housekeeping and laundry get done, the rooms are kept up to date with modern furniture and technologies, and wireless communication helps people stay connected. Amenities also include pet-friendly living for residents who want to keep animals close. If someone needs extra help, there are home care aides for non-medical needs or just companionship. Visiting hours stay flexible for family and friends, and guests can share a meal if they like. Morrison Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living is licensed by the state, and the facility has put in the effort to make sure services fit each person's stage of aging, aiming for a safe and caring place to stay, from independent living to skilled nursing care, including shorter stays for rehab, respite, or hospice care.
