    Warm attentive care, safe community

I placed my father here and was reassured from day one. He had a private room, made friends, stayed engaged with activities and rehab, and enjoyed really good meals; the home-like, clean facility feels safe. Communication was excellent - regular updates and photos - and the owners and staff were warm, professional, and treated him like family. I would recommend this smaller, attentive community and would return for respite.

    Summary of reviews

Serenity Gardens at Brick is consistently described as a small, home-like assisted living setting with a strong emphasis on personal interaction. The facility's scale and layout — private single rooms (many with en-suite bathrooms), a large dayroom with piano area and fireplace, and well-maintained hardwood-style interiors — support a residential rather than institutional feel. Reviewers frequently highlight cleanliness, pleasant decor from recent redecoration, and secure access controls (locked doors, passcodes, fenced gates) that contribute to family peace of mind.

Care quality and staffing are generally presented as strengths. Many accounts emphasize a high patient-to-staff ratio, long-tenured caregivers, and staff who are described as knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive. Families note effective one-on-one attention, good clinical oversight in some cases, proactive use of bed sensors and safety monitoring, and frequent, responsive communication including phone updates and photos. At the same time, there are accounts describing lapses in professionalism, delays in responsiveness, and inconsistent conduct; these suggest variability in staff performance or uneven supervisory oversight. Prospective families should clarify current staffing levels, supervision practices, and handover procedures during a visit.

Dining at the facility is characterized by on-site meal preparation and a personalized approach: reviewers mention meals prepared with attention to resident preferences, the ability to schedule or modify meals, and positive reactions from residents who like the food. That said, meal service appears to be primarily focused on lunch with occasional dinners; some reviewers noted limited meal availability beyond core service times. For families for whom meal timing or comprehensive daily dining is important, it is advisable to confirm exact meal hours and options.

Activities and social life are noted as positive contributors to resident engagement. The facility offers scheduled activities such as bingo and games, communal areas for TV and music, and regular outings such as weekly shopping. These elements, together with a small population, help residents form friendships and stay occupied. Physical space is generally well-kept and cozy, but room sizes are repeatedly described as small; while private, rooms may offer limited space for personal furniture or visitors.

Management and leadership are a mixed pattern: several reviewers praise visible, involved owners and a leadership team that communicates well and visits often. Other accounts describe poor communication or placement decisions under prior or transitional management, indicating operational variability during ownership or staffing changes. There are also notes that routine transportation is not provided, which may require families to arrange transport for appointments or outings.

Overall, Serenity Gardens at Brick appears to offer a secure, clean, and intimate environment with caring staff and personalized services that suit residents who benefit from a smaller, family-style setting. Key due-diligence items for prospective residents and families include confirming current staffing consistency and supervision, clarifying meal schedules and dietary accommodations, assessing room size against personal needs, understanding admission and retention policies, and making concrete arrangements for transportation if needed. A in-person tour that includes meeting leadership, reviewing sample schedules, and speaking with current families will help evaluate how recent management and staffing changes have affected day-to-day operations.

    About Serenity Gardens at Brick

Serenity Gardens at Brick is a small family-owned memory care home, licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, that's built for seniors with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, and you'll find they have 19 beds in a cozy, home-like setting. Residents get 24-hour supervision in a safe place with secured entries, a fenced-in backyard, smooth wooden floors to help prevent tripping, and elegant handrails to help folks move around more easily, while large windows in every room let in a lot of natural light. Each private room has homey touches like air conditioning, cable or satellite TV, private bathrooms, housekeeper service, and even guest rooms, and some rooms face east or north depending on preference, with full-size tubs in the bathrooms and washer/dryer options available too. Residents get all meals, with special dietary options like gluten-free, kosher, low/no sodium, and low/no sugar, and guests are allowed at mealtimes, plus the kitchen serves up home-cooked meals in a family-style dining area with a staff that manages dining needs.

Serenity Gardens offers specialized memory care with staff trained to help folks with dementia, Alzheimer's, mild cognitive impairment, and behavioral challenges, so nurses and care assistants give personalized reminders and manage activities like medication, insulin shots, and help with bathing, dressing, walking, and wheelchair transfers. The community's got help for mobility, behavioral problems, confusion, and offers non-ambulatory care, incontinence support, and even care for people with diabetes, and there's a 24-hour call system for emergencies, so help's always close. Caregivers work with doctors and other health providers to keep care plans current, and there's extra medical support like hospice care, skilled nursing, physical and occupational therapy, psychiatric care, and pharmacy services, plus regular visits from outside providers such as chaplains, dentists, optometrists, and podiatrists.

Daily life at Serenity Gardens feels much like a home, with both indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy, including gardens, patios, a library, a game room, walking paths, and a fenced yard for extra safety, while common areas have fireplaces for relaxing and there are cozy sitting areas for visits with family and friends. Residents keep busy with activities like arts and crafts, music, movie nights, holiday celebrations, trivia, karaoke, live performances, fitness classes, sensory programs, organized walks, community events, barbecues, and gardening, and a full-time activities director plans programs that fit each resident's interests and needs. The home's got Wi-Fi/internet, guest parking, salon/barbershop, and fitness center, and offers extras like animal programs, religious services, respite care, Veterans Affairs aid, and both Jewish and Protestant programming. Housekeeping, laundry, linen services, and help with shopping and errands are part of everyday living, and staff provide reminders and self-management guidance too. Security guards, locked doors, wandering protection, and resident monitoring keep everyone safe, and the staff includes caregivers who speak English along with other languages, so residents and families get clear communication. They try to match families with the right level of care and give them the information they need when making decisions about long-term care options.

The whole setup is all-inclusive when it comes to pricing, but they don't list specific fees publicly, and their reputation's strong, with a 5-star rating based on verified reviews, and many people say the home is tidy and pays close attention to residents' needs. Pets may be allowed depending on the latest rules, and payment can be made by check or credit card. The property lies in a private residential neighborhood, purpose-built to serve people with memory loss, and always focuses on making folks comfortable and respected, so everyone gets care that fits them best, and families have peace of mind, knowing there's kind staff around at all hours.
