    Caring, attentive staff; clean home

I toured and placed my loved one here and have been very happy. The staff are caring, attentive, and treat residents like family; the facility is clean, well run, and homey. Meals are good, communication with owners and staff is easy, and my relative is clearly well cared for - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Sandia Senior Suites is described primarily as a small, locally owned, home-like assisted living option where many families appreciate individualized, 24-hour attention for residents — including dementia care and in-room hospice support. Strengths that recur in reviews include a compassionate caregiving culture, accessible management, and flexible family communication. Many reviewers emphasize that staff know residents by name, provide personalized assistance (including medication management), and create a welcoming, family-style atmosphere.

Dining is generally viewed positively: reviewers frequently note home-cooked meals, hot lunches, and regular snacks. Rooms are described as furnished with private bathrooms and some accessible adaptations (raised toilet seats, grab rails, handicap parking). The facility layout and low traffic noise are noted favorably in several accounts, and the small size supports close staff–resident relationships and easier touring/admissions.

At the same time, a set of operational concerns appears repeatedly. Staffing levels and staff workload are recurrent issues: reviewers describe short-handed teams and caregivers performing multiple roles, which can create delays in assistance and variable responsiveness. Several reviewers flagged the absence or limited availability of on-site licensed nursing staff, which could be important for prospective residents with higher clinical needs. Activity programming is another consistent gap — families commonly request more organized and regular activities and note the lack of a dedicated activities director.

Facility maintenance and sanitation are mixed in the feedback. While many describe the building as clean and well-kept, others note unresolved maintenance items and pest-control concerns that merit inspection. Mobility support infrastructure is limited in places (for example, community showers without a lift), which may complicate transfers for residents with significant mobility impairment. Finally, some reviewers express concerns about the facility’s surrounding neighborhood and occasional nearby security activity, and a subset perceive a price-to-service mismatch.

For prospective residents and families: the facility’s strengths lie in personalized, attentive caregiving within a small, family-like setting and approachable local management. During a tour, prioritize confirming current staffing ratios and the availability of licensed clinical staff, review maintenance and pest-control policies, inspect transfer aids and bathing options, ask for a sample activity schedule, and discuss pricing relative to the level of clinical oversight you require. These checks will help determine whether Sandia Senior Suites’ close-knit atmosphere aligns with the prospective resident’s care and safety needs.

    About Sandia Senior Suites, LLC

Sandia Senior Suites, LLC sits at 303 San Mateo Blvd NE in Albuquerque, NM, right in the heart of the city, and you'll see that the place feels friendly and bright with sunshine coming through the windows, which seems to lift everyone's mood. This community offers both assisted living and memory care for seniors, as well as options for independent living, so folks can get more or less help depending on what they need. The facility's got about 25 licensed beds and accepts seniors who need help with daily tasks like bathing, eating, and taking their medicine-registered nurses and CNA staff keep an eye on everything and make sure people stay as independent as possible, but are there when the little things get hard.

The memory care is specially set up for folks with Alzheimer's and dementia, with programs that focus on memory, activities to keep the mind busy, and staff available all day and night, so families feel like someone's always watching out for their loved ones. There's respite care too, where people can stay just a little while if their family caregiver needs a break or has to travel, and the care doesn't skip a beat. The meals are home-cooked, three times a day, and snacks show up often; menus can fit special diets like kosher, vegan, low sodium, or if someone just wants something without sugar or organic options, and if a resident can't make it down to eat with everyone, the kitchen can send the meal right to the room. Sometimes guests pop in to share meals, which keeps things lively.

Rooms come as private studios or one-bedrooms and have wheelchair-accessible showers for safety, and the place tries to feel more like a home than a hospital, with ground floor units for easy access and indoor and outdoor spots where everyone can visit or spend quiet time. There's Wi-Fi and cable, and air conditioning for the hot days. The facility allows pets like cats and dogs, and you'll spot a few dogs out in the courtyard sometimes, though always with residents who can care for them. Staff are known for being kind and cheerful, which makes the place feel welcoming and a bit like family.

On the activity side, you'll find trivia games, live dance shows, art classes, and even holiday parties or BBQs, and there are day trips folks can join too, so the days aren't long and lonely. There are devotional services for people who want them, either in the building or off-site, and the place has handicap-accessible features for folks who need a little extra help getting around. The building stays safe and follows rules set by New Mexico and is licensed under State License 2281.

Sandia Senior Suites, LLC costs around $3,000 a month, which is average for the area, and doesn't take Medicare unless certified, but it does work with hospice or home health care if needed to make sure attention and care continue as people's needs change. With 25 reviews and a 4.0/5 star rating, the feedback shows families like the care here and say the community feels homey and personal. If you walk through, you'll notice the comfortable pace of daily life, people visiting in common areas, staff checking on everyone, and a steady routine that suits both active folks and those who need a quiet, safe place to call home for the long run.
