    Warm attentive staff, clean facility

I moved my mom to Arbors of Bohemia and am very pleased. The staff are warm, attentive and professional, management is responsive, and the facility is beautiful, clean and easy to navigate on one level. There are abundant activities, family events and varied dining options, and the personalized, family-like care put us at ease-I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression The Arbors is consistently described as a clean, well-presented, single-level community with a strong emphasis on social programming and resident comfort. Many families and residents praise the caregiving teams, front-desk and housekeeping staff, and the facility’s appearance — citing tidy common areas, attractive landscaping and courtyard gardens, and a home-like atmosphere. The layout and amenities (one-floor design, beauty salon, game room, dining room, and outdoor barbecue spaces) support daily mobility and socialization for ambulatory and moderately assisted residents.

Care and staffing Caregivers and wellness staff receive frequent positive mention for compassion, patience, and individualized attention; medication administration and routine clinical oversight (including periodic in-house physicians) are viewed as strengths. At the same time, reviewers describe operational staffing limits — particularly in the wellness/nursing and aide roles — that can affect responsiveness for residents with increasing care needs. The facility appears well suited for independent residents or those requiring moderate assistance, but it has limited capacity and certifications for higher-acuity medical interventions or complex feeding support.

Dining and ancillary services Dining staff and the chef are frequently commended for menu variety and accommodating dietary needs. However, food quality is described inconsistently: many appreciate the varied options and nutrition focus, while others note temperature issues, occasional blandness, and uneven meal delivery. Ancillary services such as hairdressing and beauty are popular, but some scheduled services (for example, podiatry) and outings have been described as unreliable at times.

Activities and transportation The Arbors offers a broad calendar of on-site and off-site activities — crafts, trips, intergenerational programs, religious services, and community events — and activity staff are often singled out as warm and proactive. Engagement levels vary by program, and there are repeated mentions of canceled or driver-dependent outings; prospective families should confirm outing logistics and program consistency. The community’s smaller scale supports personalized programming, but activity variety and attendance can fluctuate.

Facilities and pricing Physical facilities are a frequent asset: clean rooms, bright common spaces, and accessible grounds suit residents who value a pleasant living environment. Room sizes and finishes vary; some residents note smaller closets or compact rooms relative to cost. The community offers inclusive pricing and shared-room affordability that appeal to many families, but those seeking more private space or higher-acuity clinical services should verify availability and costs.

Management, communication, and notable patterns Management responsiveness and helpful move-in support are commonly reported positives; families describe thoughtful transition assistance and prompt replies to concerns. That said, recurring themes include communication and documentation gaps (billing, recordkeeping, paperwork handling) and occasional staff turnover that can produce inconsistent conduct or tone. A limited number of families described more serious interpersonal or post-incident handling concerns; prospective residents should ask about escalation protocols, grievance procedures, and family communication practices.

Who this fits best The Arbors is generally a strong option for seniors who prioritize a clean, socially active, and community-oriented environment with compassionate staff and a moderate level of clinical support. It is particularly well suited to ambulatory or mildly assisted residents who benefit from robust programming and an accessible one-level layout. Families seeking higher-acuity medical services, memory-care specialization, consistently heated meals, or guaranteed outing schedules should clarify those needs during tours and review staffing and service commitments in writing before committing.

    About The Arbors

The Arbors sits on eight acres near Long Island's beaches and cultural spots, so residents can enjoy quiet living close to local activities, and the single-level setting makes it easy to get around without using stairs or elevators, which helps folks who find walking tough, and the apartments come as studios, one-bedrooms, or semi-private, with roomy spaces you can make your own, so it really can feel like home, and there's comfortable décor and lots of common areas both inside and out that let people gather for meals or talk with friends or family. The staff here stays around the clock, helping with daily needs like showering, dressing, eating, and even getting places safely, and they're trained to care for people with memory problems through the SafeCare program, which offers both physical and mental support for those who need it, and the community is all-inclusive so there's no worry about extra fees for more care as needs change. Meals come prepared by a professional chef three times a day in a bright restaurant-style setting, and the 24-hour bistro stays open if you want a snack or light meal at any time, and there's even vegetarian choices if that's your preference. Apart from food, residents can use the beauty salon and barber shop for a small fee, or join in on scheduled trips to local theaters and shops or use the complimentary transportation service for doctor visits or outings, and case managers and on-site nurses or doctors handle health, medication, and special care plans, including for those who need help with memory, hospice support, or respite stays, and therapy from professionals like a podiatrist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist. Folks who like socializing or staying active will find scheduled daily activities, game rooms, a computer lab, a library, a media room, fitness programs, wellness activities, and devotional services both on location and out in the community, and there's always something for culture or learning, plus a Heroes Welcome program that recognizes veterans and first responders. Housekeeping, linen changes, personal laundry, and apartment maintenance run on regular schedules, so residents don't need to worry over chores, and everything in the apartments is included except the telephone, even Direct TV. There are emergency response systems and 24-hour call buttons, and the place as a whole is smoke-free and wheelchair accessible-including showers-and family or friends visiting can use resident parking. The Arbors wants folks to feel respected and comfortable, with care that's both compassionate and focused on what each person needs, and the whole environment is set up so people can stay independent as long as they can while help is always at hand.
