    Grateful for excellent compassionate care

I'm very pleased with my dad's stay. The staff-nurses, caregivers, kitchen and cleaning teams, security and the Sisters-are kind, hospitable and have a great sense of humor. The community is immaculate inside and out, residents seem happy, and my dad is healthy and well cared for; I'm grateful for their care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Jeanne Jugan Residence are uniformly positive, with reviewers expressing strong gratitude and very high satisfaction. Words and phrases that recur across the summaries include "extremely happy," "grateful," "blessed," "wonderful stay," and "incredible," indicating an overwhelmingly favorable perception from multiple visitors or family members. There are no explicit complaints or negative observations in the provided summaries; the dominant theme is appreciation for the quality of care and the warmth of the community.

Care quality and clinical/support staff: Care quality is repeatedly highlighted as a major strength. Reviewers explicitly cite "caring staff," "nurses," and that residents (e.g., a reviewerโ€™s dad) are "healthy" and "well cared for." This suggests consistent, attentive caregiving and positive perceived health outcomes for residents. Multiple staff roles are praised, which points to a broadly positive experience across clinical (nursing) and non-clinical care functions.

Staff characteristics and culture: The staff are described with uniformly positive attributes: "kind," "polite," "outstanding," and "friendly." Praise extends beyond nurses to housekeeping and kitchen teams, with specific mentions of "cleaning staff" and "cooking staff." The presence of "fantastic Sisters" is called out separately, indicating that the religious sisters who work or live at the residence are visible and play a meaningful, appreciated role in the community. "Helpful security" was also specifically mentioned, reinforcing an impression of safety and attentive personnel across multiple support areas.

Facilities and accommodations: Physical aspects of the facility receive positive remarks. Reviewers say the residence is "well kept inside & out" and explicitly call an "excellent room" out as a highlight. The combination of well-maintained grounds and clean interiors contributes to the overall favorable impression and supports comments about resident comfort and satisfaction.

Dining and support services: The kitchen and dining support appear in the positive feedback through mentions of "cooking staff," implying satisfaction with food service. Because the reviews praise both kitchen staff and cleanliness, it is reasonable to conclude that basic hospitality services (meals, housekeeping) meet or exceed family expectations. However, there are no detailed descriptions of menu quality, dining variety, or mealtime experience in the summaries provided.

Community atmosphere and resident well-being: Reviewers describe a friendly atmosphere and explicitly note "happy residents," suggesting good resident morale and social climate. The repeated expressions of gratitude and feeling "blessed" imply that families feel the environment supports dignity and well-being for their loved ones. The combination of caring staff, visible Sisters, and a well-kept facility contributes to a community that reviewers view as nurturing and comforting.

Gaps, limits, and patterns to note: The reviews provided are uniformly positive and focus on care, staff, cleanliness, rooms, and security. There is no critique or neutral feedback to balance the praise, which limits visibility into potential areas for improvement. Important operational or experiential topics are not mentioned in the summaries: specifics about activities and programming, clinical outcome metrics beyond anecdotal health, staff turnover or continuity, cost/value perceptions, specialty medical services, accessibility, or detailed dining menus. While the positive comments about housekeeping and cooking staff imply strong hospitality services, details about daily activities, therapies, or engagement programming are absent. Likewise, management-level performance is not directly discussed, though the well-maintained facility and service consistency suggest effective operations.

Conclusion and recommendations: Based on the available summaries, Jeanne Jugan Residence appears to excel in caregiving, staff demeanor, cleanliness, room quality, security, and overall resident happiness. The presence of caring Sisters and repeatedly praised staff contributes strongly to familiesโ€™ trust and gratitude. For a more complete assessment, solicit additional feedback or reviews that address programming and activities, clinical outcomes over time, staff stability, and specific aspects of dining and hospitality (menus, dietary accommodations). But from these summaries alone, the consistent and emphatic positive language indicates a facility that meets or surpasses family expectations in the core areas that most directly affect resident comfort and daily life.

    About Jeanne Jugan Residence

Jeanne Jugan Residence sits in the Bronx, New York, and the Little Sisters of the Poor run it with a mission to serve elderly people who are most in need, treating everyone with dignity and compassion, drawing from their Catholic values but welcoming people of all backgrounds and faiths, and you'll find that the Sisters themselves live at the Home alongside the residents 24 hours a day, sharing their lives together, which is something you don't see everywhere, and it gives the place a real sense of community and togetherness that's important for people in their later years. The building has 30 certified beds and most days nearly all are full, with the place offering a range of elder care, including assisted living and memory care, and sometimes independent living and senior apartments, though it's not a hospital or a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so folks don't get every level of medical service, but residents get daily help with bathing, dressing, taking medicines, and other basic needs from trained staff as well as from the Sisters. They've got an average rating for state health inspections, but scored much above average for overall care and staffing levels compared to other homes, and they're strong on preventing things like pressure sores, and keep their residents out of both hospitals and emergency rooms more than most, with good marks for most vaccines and daily care, though now and again the home's had a few minor notes on paperwork, medication storage, or following up with certain recommendations-like that time they didn't have proof they followed up to get a prosthesis. Residents get freshly prepared meals and a safe, secure place to live, and the memory care environment is set up to minimize confusion and the chance of wandering off for folks who need that kind of help. Staff include nurses, nurse aides, and the Sisters themselves, with more staff per resident here than most other places, although there aren't as many physical therapy hours as some might want, but the day-to-day care's steady. There are set teams for Human Resources, Development, Admissions, and even a Volunteer Coordinator, so the place runs with a sense of order, and there's a Mother Superior in charge, which you don't find in other homes. Jeanne Jugan Residence isn't perfect and it did have a federal fine back in 2018, but it keeps its focus clear: to give elderly people-regardless of their background-a respectful, caring home when they need it most, which many families want for their loved ones, and while there aren't many public reviews yet, families can still reach out to staff for more information and see if the community might suit their needs.
