    Bright social community, inconsistent care

I moved my mom here and we liked the bright, renovated facility, private apartments, lively activities and generally warm, caring staff - she felt loved and made friends. Food, amenities and memory-care programming are solid most days. That said, staffing is inconsistent (slow call-button/bathroom response), higher-level medical care and med documentation can be shaky, and dining/billing issues and pricey add-ons popped up. Sales sometimes oversold capabilities, so families need to stay involved and advocate. Overall a lovely, social place for lighter needs, but not ideal if you require reliably high medical attention.

About Atria Park of Great Neck

Atria Park of Great Neck offers assisted living, independent living, and memory care services in a community with elegant, multi-story brick buildings, white columns, and divided-pane windows, and you'll find that they've made a habit of keeping things comfortable for people with all sorts of needs and interests. Residents choose from private apartments, many with walk-in showers, kitchenettes, and individual thermostat control, and apartment maintenance, housekeeping, and utilities are all taken care of, which does make life a bit easier as you get older, plus they let you bring your pet as long as you meet certain conditions, which has always made for nice company.

The community provides care from dedicated staff members-many of them with 20 or more years of experience-and there's always someone on-site, including a licensed nurse, 24 hours a day, so folks who need help with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, medication, or moving around can count on assistance without losing dignity or independence. They specialize in providing support that goes beyond regular assisted living, with Atria Concierge Care to give more control and flexibility, which can be important if your needs change. Those living with memory loss can receive specialized support in the dedicated Memory Care unit, which is set up to match their individual needs, and staff offer 24/7 help for both assisted living and memory care residents.

Meals, including kosher options, are provided daily, and residents have transportation if they need to go to appointments or run errands in the walkable Great Neck neighborhood, where you're close to stores, banks, and restaurants, as well as the waterfront Great Neck Library, where residents are encouraged to take part in programs and activities. The community puts a lot of focus on events-a robust calendar tailored to different interests through the Engage Life® events program, which includes outdoor activities, casino-style parties, instructor-led fitness classes, book swaps, movie nights in the on-site theater, guest lectures in the library, and more, so there's always a chance to stay active or learn something new.

Atria Park of Great Neck makes sure every resident's care plan is personalized and provides regular balance screenings through Atria's Better Balance Program. The community has modern safety features, emergency response plans, and is handicap accessible, with Wi-Fi throughout. There's support for short-term respite stays if you need time to recover from an injury or your caregiver is away, and Mindy Siegel is the resident salesperson if you've got questions about the place. The facility provides resources and guides to help families make decisions about moving, financing, and planning, along with options to pay online, which does make things more convenient.

Residents and families have given the community high review scores, and the staff works to foster an environment of dignity, respect, and independence throughout the community. You can take a tour if you'd like a closer look at daily life, meals, and the amenities, and there's a photo and video gallery online. All in all, Atria Park of Great Neck stands as a senior living community in Great Neck, New York, with assisted living, independent living, and memory care all available in one place, and they try to meet a wide variety of needs in an honest, supportive way, respecting every person's choices and preferences.
