    Spotless rooms and excellent PT

I had a very positive stay: spacious, spotlessly clean rooms; attentive, compassionate nurses and an outstanding PT/rehab team that helped me recover quickly. Administration and concierge Charlie (and receptionist Lisa) were responsive and welcoming, the recreation/amenities (GO Program, Netflix, coffee) kept things lively - I would happily recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Northern Manor elicits strongly polarized feedback. Many families praise the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation resources, noting a strong physical-therapy program, knowledgeable therapists, and measurable gains in mobility for goal-oriented patients. Several reviewers compliment nursing staff who provide compassionate care and identify specific administrative and social-work staff as accessible and helpful; the recreation program, front-desk/concierge, and some leadership figures also receive consistent positive mention. When services are functioning as intended, reviewers describe clean, well-maintained rooms and common areas, effective discharge planning, and an engaging activity schedule.

Counterbalancing those positives are recurring operational concerns. Staffing consistency is a frequent issue: reviewers describe variability between day and night shifts, slow responses to call bells, delayed assistance with personal care, and uneven performance among aides and nurses. These patterns appear to affect medication timing, timely toileting and bathing assistance, and the overall responsiveness of clinical teams. Several families also raised concerns about clinician availability (physicians and pulmonology coverage) and gaps in clinical oversight that can affect complex patients, including those requiring respiratory support.

Dining, housekeeping, and property management show similar variability. Many reviewers enjoyed meals and found dining adequate, while others reported cold or unappealing meals and interruptions to meal service. Housekeeping and laundry are generally noted as acceptable by some, but there are repeated mentions of sanitation and odor concerns in certain areas, inconsistent laundry handling, and allegations of missing resident belongingsโ€”issues that suggest weaknesses in routine environmental and inventory controls. A small number of reviewers also raised pest-control and infection-risk concerns; prospective families should seek current facility records and ask about recent corrective actions.

Management and communication present mixed impressions. Daytime administration and certain social-work staff receive praise for responsiveness and family updates, but reviewers commonly describe breakdowns in communication during busy periods or at night. Leadership and some clinical directors are identified as strengths, which coexists with reports of staff conduct concerns and uneven enforcement of policies. A few reviewers raised serious allegations, including problems following a residentโ€™s clinical decline; these accounts are serious and warrant direct clarification from the facility and review of regulatory history.

For families considering Northern Manor: the facility appears capable of delivering strong rehabilitation and, at times, compassionate nursing and coordinated care. However, the experience can vary significantly depending on shift, unit, and individual staff assigned. Recommended due diligence includes asking about staffing ratios (especially nights), observing call-bell response and mealtime service, reviewing recent inspection and infection-control records, clarifying property/laundry procedures, and meeting the specific therapy and respiratory teams who would manage a loved oneโ€™s care.
