    Warm professional care, clean, convenient

I placed my dad here and I'm very satisfied - the staff are consistently warm, professional, and caring, with nurses, social workers and administration who respond promptly and compassionately. The building is clean, bright and well-kept, with plenty of activities, good meals and organized services (meds, laundry), and it's conveniently near I-95/Montefiore. Overall an excellent, supportive place to live with only minor areas for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a largely positive view of New Rochelle Home for Adults, with recurrent praise for cleanliness, the warmth of many caregiving staff, an organized activities program, and the facility’s convenient location and cost competitiveness. Multiple comments highlight a welcoming admissions experience, bright common areas and renovated rooms, and a generally pleasant resident atmosphere. The facility’s core service package—meals, medication management, and laundry—is described as comprehensive and well managed in many accounts.

Care and clinical services: Reviewers describe attentive day-to-day caregiving and the presence of nursing and therapeutic staff as strengths. Counseling and social-work resources and on-site clinical oversight were noted to contribute to residents’ therapeutic benefit. At the same time, several reviews identify gaps in specialty offerings: physical therapy, podiatry, and dental services were mentioned as inconsistent or absent, and a few families reported needing to advocate to secure follow-up or specialty appointments. Prospective families should confirm current specialty-service availability and how the facility coordinates outside providers.

Staff and communication: Staff are frequently described as kind, respectful, and professional, and many families praised specific aides and administrative leaders for responsiveness and integrity. However, there is a contrasting pattern of reports indicating unfriendly interactions, curt phone communication, and uneven responsiveness. This suggests variability in staff conduct and communication practices that may fluctuate by shift or individual. Clarifying staffing patterns, turnover, and the facility’s procedures for family communication is advisable during a tour.

Dining and activities: Dining receives generally favorable comments—food quality, acceptable portions, and regular social meals or parties were highlighted. The recreation program appears well organized, with daily activities and a social lounge that contribute to a positive community feel. These elements are repeatedly cited as factors in resident satisfaction and social engagement.

Facilities and maintenance: Many reviewers describe the building as clean, bright, and well kept, with renovations noted in several accounts. Conversely, a number of comments indicate areas of deteriorating condition, poorer lighting, or inconsistent upkeep in parts of the building. This points to uneven maintenance standards across the site rather than a uniformly poor or excellent physical environment.

Management and notable patterns: Administrative leadership receives praise for professionalism and helpfulness in multiple reports, which aligns with the facility’s organized programming. Nevertheless, recurring themes include inconsistent specialty clinical services, occasional communication gaps, and a need for active family advocacy to obtain certain services or follow-through. For prospective residents and families, recommended next steps are to tour during different times of day, ask for a current roster of on-site and contracted clinical services, request examples of family communication protocols, and inquire about maintenance schedules and staffing continuity.

About New Rochelle Home for Adults

New Rochelle Home For Adults, sometimes called New Rochelle Manor, sits in New Rochelle, NY, in a neighborhood with nearby parks, shops, medical facilities, and places like The Loeb Boathouse, and has room for up to 250 seniors in private or shared apartments furnished with cozy furniture, flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and WiFi, and every room has emergency call systems for safety. Staff help residents with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, transfers, and hygiene, and there's medication management from trained med techs, around-the-clock supervision, and a 24-hour call system in case anyone needs help. Nursing care runs 12-16 hours a day, and medical services, such as visits from an internist, psychologist, podiatrist, and physical therapists, are available in the wellness center-health care support comes from a Licensed Home Care Services Agency.

Residents get three homemade, healthy meals every day, and the kitchen can handle special diets like for diabetes or high blood pressure, plus allergy needs, with a dining room that offers restaurant-style service, plus snacks and a kitchenette if residents want to make their own food. Housekeepers take care of cleaning, laundry, and linens every week, and maintenance staff keep things running. The community has a reading room, small library, parlor, computer center, game room, theater room, fitness center, spa, beauty salon, barber shop with mobile barber or hairdresser, wellness room, gardens, walking paths, and lounge areas where people can gather.

There's a busy schedule of arts and crafts, music therapy, animal therapy, tabletop games, social night events, workout programs, movie nights, exercise classes, and community activities, including some run by residents or outside sponsors, and there are regular outings and transportation for errands, doctor appointments, and visits to spiritual sites. The staff help with move-in, support families, and coordinate daily and community activities to keep everyone busy and connected. Residents can use a community-operated transportation system, and family members can join in meals or events as visitors in the comfortable dining room.

The facility offers memory care and Alzheimer's services, medical respite care, skilled nursing, independent and assisted living options, as well as mental wellness programs, with extra supports like insulin dosage help and two-person transfers if needed, pending verification. Personalized care adjusts for each resident's needs, and the community can handle a range of conditions and abilities, with remote patient monitoring, clinical activities, and a focus on keeping residents healthy and safe. New York State's Department of Health regulates the facility under certification ID 800-F-124, and the home accepts private payments, long-term care insurance, Veterans Aid and Attendance, and Medicaid through the New York Affordable Assisted-Living Program.

Prices start at $3,000 per month for assisted living, but the final cost depends on room choice, care level, and needed amenities, so it's best to check with the administrator for current options. Residents have weekly housekeeping, regular laundry service, individually controlled heating and cooling in rooms, and access to planned daily events, so no one's ever bored unless they want to be. The facility's community score is 6.4, according to Seniorly's system, which looks at reviews, local safety, and livability. People can feel independent here, with help and health support close by, in a place with friendly staff who aim to treat everyone with respect and dignity, and there's always something going on for anyone who wants to take part.
