Village Care of King sits at 440 Ingram Drive in Rosebud, King, North Carolina, and offers a range of services for seniors who need different types of support, so you'll find it has skilled nursing care, assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other cognitive needs, and personal care-all under one roof, which helps folks not have to move around as their needs change, and with 96 skilled nursing beds it can handle both short-term rehabilitation stays, helped along by physical and occupational therapy, as well as long-term care with a staff that's always on site. The facility is well known for its focus on personalized care plans and tries to promote each resident's health and comfort, also offering specialized respite care for family caregivers who need a break. The staff works with each resident's doctor to design a treatment or recovery plan, and they also have a pre-registration program where future residents can get to know the equipment and start exercises ahead of any surgery, which helps the transition go easier, and those needing medication management or 24/7 support for memory care can receive that in a secure setting with safety features in place. The community tries to create a home-like atmosphere, and many residents and families say it feels comfortable and relaxed, and they like how recreational activities-like holiday parties and Christmas events-help everyone stay active and social. The dining program puts an effort into making sure meals are both warm and tasty while meeting any nutrition requirements, and with amenities designed to encourage social engagement, there's always something to do. Village Care of King is proud of its award from the American Health Care Association's 2020 Quality Initiative Recognition Program for its work on quality improvement. The staff, led by administrator Jennifer Hulett, is known for being kind and attentive, treating each person with respect regardless of background, since the community complies with federal civil rights laws. Residents and their families are encouraged to tour or even pre-register for rehabilitation programs to help make future care transitions easier.

Good rehab, but safety concerns
I have mixed feelings. The rehab/physical therapy (Laranda and her team) and many nurses, CNAs and social workers were compassionate, skilled and got my mother-in-law back on her feet. But I also saw serious problems - medication and wound-care mistakes, long bathroom waits, poor food, occasional unsanitary conditions and worrying neglect/abuse reports. Staff are often hardworking but clearly understaffed and management/communication is inconsistent and unresponsive, with privacy concerns and COVID isolation issues. Good for short-term, intensive rehab if you watch meds and hygiene closely; I would be cautious about long-term placement.
