    Caring staff, clean home, grateful

I'm very pleased with the turnaround since new leadership arrived - the staff are caring, attentive and professional. The place is spotless with no bad odors, meals are hearty, and residents enjoy singing, bingo and the shaded pergola outdoors. My spouse is happy and I have real peace of mind as a caregiver; I'm grateful for the loving, hardworking team that makes this feel like family.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed and often polarized picture of care at this memory-care facility. Several families describe attentive, compassionate caregivers and caring nursing staff who provide individualized attention and comfort; those accounts often emphasize cleanliness, routine meals, and activities such as singing and bingo that contribute to a homelike environment. Positive comments also highlight furnished rooms, outdoor seating, and episodes where families reported increased peace of mind after placement.

Counterbalancing those positive accounts are substantial operational concerns. A recurrent theme is inconsistent staffing levels and third-shift coverage gaps that appear to affect responsiveness and routine personal care. Reviewers cite variability in staff conduct and timeliness, with some describing calm, respectful interactions and others describing delays in assistance and problematic communication tone. These patterns suggest uneven supervision and staff training across shifts.

Clinical and safety issues emerge as important patterns. Reviews describe weaknesses in medication-management processes and documentation controls, along with family concerns about clinical-incident transparency and investigation. There are also multiple references to safety-protocol gaps — including supervision, transfer and wandering/elopement risk controls, and resident-to-resident incident handling — which indicate the facility’s safety practices warrant scrutiny. In a few instances reviewers used strong language about restraint use and medication documentation; those serious claims are best classified as allegations requiring regulatory or investigatory follow-up.

Dining and basic-care consistency are additional areas of concern. While some families praised the meals, others described inconsistent food quality, portioning reductions, and occasional reliance on donated food sources. Personal-care concerns include inconsistent bathing and hygiene assistance and problems with supplies or toileting support, which align with broader sanitation and infection-control weaknesses noted by several reviewers.

Facility condition and programming vary across accounts. Several reviewers describe an older building with deferred maintenance — damaged bathrooms, limited staff facilities, and grounds needing upkeep — while others describe clean, well-kept wings. Activity programming also appears inconsistent: some residents experience regular engagement, whereas other families report an absence of an activities coordinator and minimal encouragement to stay active.

Management and regulatory context are salient. Reviews reference documented regulatory deficiencies and enforcement actions, historic leadership turnover, and periods of poor administrative follow-through and family communication. At the same time, multiple comments indicate new ownership or leadership changes with efforts to improve morale and care; some families report a noticeable positive turnaround, while others say problems persist. Prospective residents and families should weigh both the positive caregiver accounts and the operational shortcomings, confirm current regulatory status, request recent staffing and incident data, and perform an in-person walkthrough focused on safety protocols, medication controls, sanitation practices, and activity programming before making placement decisions.

    About Harmony House Memory Care

Harmony House Memory Care sits on Eufola Road in Statesville and gives seniors a safe, cozy place to live when they need help with memory problems like Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and you'll find they're really focused on helping people with all the little things that crop up each day-bathing, dressing, meals, medication-without making folks feel uncomfortable or out of place, because their staff, even the nurses, they're trained for dementia care and always around to make sure everyone stays safe, especially since they've got doors and outdoor areas set up so nobody wanders off or gets confused. The rooms, whether private or semi-private, feel homelike and have enough space for personal things, and there are comfortable, sunny corners where people can sit and chat or join in on daily activities; crafts, games, gentle exercise, and holiday celebrations are planned out to keep minds active and bodies moving, and whether someone likes a quiet moment with a puzzle or joining a group for music, there's always something to choose. Residents get nutritious meals every day, prepared with dietary needs in mind, and if anybody needs a hand with eating or just figuring out what they want, the staff helps with that too. There are nurses and therapists on call, and arrangements for transportation to doctor visits or even group outings nearby, and the outdoor spaces-they're secure but you can still get fresh air, even if someone uses a wheelchair or needs some extra help. The facility stays pet-friendly, and Wi-Fi reaches into the rooms, which helps families keep in touch, and you'll notice a general feeling of warmth and calm, part of what folks mention when they talk about Harmony House, because the care team tries to really know each resident, not just by a file but by what they enjoy or need, whether it's therapy, help with memory games, or just a friendly face nearby. Harmony House offers respite, hospice, and dementia care under the right circumstances, and their clinical staff, including geriatric physicians, makes sure needs are met as they change. The facility's design helps minimize confusion, with thoughtful lighting and clear, accessible paths, and for those needing assistance with things like grooming or laundry or medication, it's handled quietly and kindly. The community hosts both assisted living and memory care, and everyone has access to recreation, security, and a sense of belonging, with special touches like community rooms, scheduled transportation, and gentle supervision day and night, all while making sure safety and dignity stay front and center for every resident.
