    Very pleased with memory care

My mom moved into the brand-new memory care and I've been very pleased. The facility is clean, spacious, well-kept and in a great location. Staff are kind, trained and friendly - Nurse Day stands out for her compassion and knowledge - and residents are engaged with excellent activities like music therapy and therapy dogs. I have real peace of mind and would recommend this place to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Overview: Reviews for The Village of St. Edward at Green are predominantly positive regarding the physical plant, daily programming, and many aspects of frontline caregiving. The community is described as a newly constructed, spacious, and well-maintained building with attractive interiors and a convenient location. Reviewers repeatedly highlight a strong activities program — including music therapy and therapy-dog visits — and the memory-care neighborhood is organized into small units (14 residents per side), which reviewers framed as supportive of calm, focused care. The community is reported to accept Medicaid and to have had effective infection-control measures during the COVID period.

Care quality and nursing: Many families praise individual nursing staff and caregivers for compassion, knowledge, and responsiveness; some reviewers specifically credited nursing staff with improving residents’ mood and engagement. The memory-care design and structured activities appear to support residents with cognitive impairment. However, there is a notable contrast in the record: alongside positive endorsements are isolated criticisms characterizing care as poor. This pattern suggests variability in care experience; prospective families should verify current staffing levels, staff turnover, and clinical oversight during a visit and by checking state inspection or staffing reports.

Staff and management: Frontline staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, and several reviewers said staff interactions contributed to a sense of safety and peace of mind. At the same time, at least one review referenced negative workplace conditions. That discrepancy points to potential workplace-culture or morale issues that can affect consistency of care. When evaluating the community, ask management about staff retention, training programs, and supervision practices to understand whether positive staff–resident interactions are consistent across shifts and units.

Activities and dining: Activities are a clear strength: reviewers mention varied programming, music therapy, and animal-assisted visits that appear to be meaningful for resident engagement. Dining quality and menu details are not frequently discussed in the available summaries, creating limited visibility into meal quality, portioning, and special-diet accommodations. Families should request menus, sample meals, and information about dietary services and chef or dietitian involvement during visits.

Facilities, operations, and cost: The facility’s new construction and upkeep are consistently praised, and the small memory-care neighborhoods are a positive operational feature for some families. The community’s acceptance of Medicaid increases accessibility for eligible residents. Pricing, however, is described as relatively expensive, and reviewers recommend clarifying which services are included in base fees and which are add-ons. Before committing, confirm contract terms, ancillary fees, and financial policies with admissions and billing.

Notable patterns and recommendations: Overall impression from the reviews is of a high-quality, well-appointed community with strong programming and many compassionate caregivers, tempered by some indications of inconsistency in care and at least one comment raising workplace-culture concerns. For a balanced evaluation, visit at different times of day, meet nursing leadership, review staffing ratios and turnover statistics, sample meals, and speak with current family members if possible. Also review recent inspection reports and ask for a written summary of infection-control practices and emergency procedures to confirm operational expectations align with the positive aspects cited by many families.

About The Village of St. Edward at Green

The Village of St. Edward at Green sits in Green, Ohio, and provides independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing all on one campus, so seniors can choose the right level of support for themselves or their family members. This is a faith-based community where residents find help with daily needs and enjoy a setting designed for easy movement, safety, and comfort, with features like wheel-chair accessible areas, emergency alert systems, safety aides in bathrooms, and a 24-hour emergency call system. Rooms come as studios, one-bedrooms, or two-bedrooms, many with full kitchens or kitchenettes, private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and options for cable TV and telephones. People living here have professional chef-prepared meals served daily in restaurant-style dining rooms, with meals tailored for allergy-sensitive and special diets, and there's all-day dining, too, which is something folks appreciate for flexibility. Families and residents can use furnished community spaces, like the chapel for mass or other faith gatherings, activity rooms, arts room, library, movie theater, game room, outdoor gardens and walking paths, fitness center, spa and wellness room, and landscaped terraces with barbecue grills-there's even a pond with a pavilion.

There are social programs, resident-run events, wellness classes, fitness groups, and cultural and religious activities on a weekly schedule. Residents can rely on weekly housekeeping, laundry and linen services, daily trash removal, and scheduled transportation for shopping, doctor visits, and other errands. Memory care is a focus at this facility, with extra safety and security, one-bedroom or studio options, care from licensed nurses, and programming that helps people with Alzheimer's or dementia feel included and understood. Staff provide medication management, daily wellness checks, help with bathing, dressing, eating, and other personal needs, all under individualized care plans. There are skilled nursing services for those who need nursing or rehabilitation after a hospital stay, including therapies like physical, occupational, and speech, and this nursing center is both licensed by the state and accredited federally as well as by The Joint Commission, so safety standards are overseen closely. This place also has private and shared rooms, all utilities (except cable and phones) included, and individual climate control-plus there's always a licensed nurse on site or on call.

People find community in daily life here, with choices for privacy or group activities, and staff recognize the dignity and sacredness of caring for the aging. The campus has walking trails and plenty of spots indoors and out for both quiet time and friendly gathering, and the salon and barbershop, whirlpool facilities, and club and solarium rooms just add to the daily comforts. People who move here can expect to find transportation, guest parking, security staff on evenings and weekends, and a 24-hour emergency response system. This place aims to help each resident stay as independent as possible but always with a safety net if more care is needed, including end-of-life hospice care when needed. All in all, The Village of St. Edward at Green offers different levels of help and a safe, social environment for seniors to live comfortably with respect.
