    Safe, caring community; excellent therapy

I'm very happy with our choice - the staff are friendly, attentive and caring, my mom feels safe and well looked-after, and the community is clean, comfortable and home-like. Meals are excellent, activities plentiful, therapy/skilled nursing outstanding, and the campus amenities and transportation make it great value.

    Summary of reviews

Brewster Parke presents as a campus-style senior living provider with a broad continuum of care and a variety of on-site amenities. Strengths repeatedly noted include well-maintained grounds with walking trails and outdoor spaces, campus amenities such as a theater and large communal dining rooms, and a range of apartment styles with kitchenettes and furnished options. The community offers independent living through skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, and reviewers frequently cited successful therapy outcomes and the availability of hospice support. Transportation services, scheduled outings, and an active activities calendar contribute to a residential, community-oriented atmosphere.

Care quality and staff performance show a mixed but distinct pattern. Many families praised compassionate nurses, aides, and admissions/administrative staff who foster a family-like environment and include families in care planning. Therapy and rehabilitation teams receive consistent positive feedback. At the same time, reviewers describe variability in staff competence, professionalism, and responsiveness—particularly during weekends or periods of low staffing. Several reviews raised a serious allegation concerning medication administration; more broadly, comments point to gaps in medication-management processes and the need for stronger clinical oversight and staff training.

Dining and activities are commonly cited as strengths: home-style meals with variety, regular special events, church services, bingo, concerts, and outings are frequent positives. However, participation can be uneven; some residents—particularly those with cognitive impairment—may not be consistently engaged by the activity program. The absence of a dedicated memory-care unit was specifically noted, which may limit appropriate programming for residents with dementia-related needs.

Facility-level observations are similarly mixed. Newer buildings and renovated units are described as bright, clean, and home-like, while older buildings (identified by name in some comments) are perceived as less updated and offering fewer amenities. Cleanliness and sanitation are generally praised, but isolated accounts describe odor concerns and maintenance issues in certain areas. There are also remarks about inconsistent infection-control practices and PPE adherence in isolated instances. Management performance elicited divergent opinions: some reviewers commended administrative responsiveness and a positive workplace culture, while others described delays in complaint resolution and concerns about communication style and professionalism.

Overall, Brewster Parke appears to offer substantive amenities, therapeutic resources, and a community atmosphere that many residents and families find satisfying and good value. At the same time, persistent themes around inconsistent staffing, variable staff training and oversight, medication-management gaps, and differences between buildings suggest areas for prospective residents and families to investigate further. Recommended due-diligence items include touring multiple buildings on the campus, asking specific questions about staffing levels and weekend coverage, reviewing medication-administration and incident-response procedures, confirming infection-control practices, and clarifying options for memory-care needs and activity inclusion for cognitively impaired residents.

    About Brewster Parke, Inc

Brewster Parke, Inc sits in the quiet village of Brewster, surrounded by trees and rolling land in eastern Ohio, and has been family-owned and caring for seniors since 1976, which seems to give it a personal touch you can feel when you visit. The community offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Catered Living, Skilled Nursing, Post-Acute Care, Therapy, Long-Term Care, Hospice, and Palliative Care, and they have affordable options for many people, with both single rooms and semi-private apartments or rooms to choose from. The buildings and rooms are all wheelchair accessible, with features like walk-in showers, full tubs, and aging-in-place details that help make daily life easier, and they even have plans to build bigger and updated independent and assisted living buildings as time goes on.

There's a Comfort Care Plus Plan that includes meal and grocery delivery, housekeeping, laundry, lawn care, snow removal, mail service, and transportation, which saves folks from worrying about the little things, and meals are cooked by a professional chef with vegetarian and special dietary choices available. Residents get beauty services on site-there's even a Good Neighbor Pharmacy right there-plus they have laundry, housekeeping, mail, lawn, and snow services included, so nobody needs to worry about chores piling up anymore. They're big on activities too, like weekly Happy Hours with entertainment, outings, games, arts and crafts, movies in the Lil' Henry Theater, classes for cooking, fitness, musical entertainment, and trips to places close by, all organized by friendly staff who make customized schedules based on what residents like to do.

For health care, Brewster Parke has a fully trained in-house staff, no outside agency workers, and an on-call nurse 24/7, giving folks skilled nursing, non-ambulatory care, special wound and dialysis services, incontinence care, rehabilitation that covers physical, occupational, and speech therapy, long- and short-term rehab, plus respite and hospice care for those who need extra help for a while or at the end of life. They support people with memory issues, like Alzheimer's care, and have a program for Veterans through the VA's Aid and Attendance Program. Therapy and rehabilitation happen six days a week, both on-site and as outpatient, so recovering from illness or surgery gets attention right away.

The grounds have gardens and places to enjoy the outdoors, with parking and recreational activities both inside and out. Pets are allowed, which is nice for people who want to bring a companion. There are indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, devotional services, and a Activities Department that works hard to keep everyone engaged and happy, focusing on social, educational, and entertaining events, all while trying to respect each person's dignity and let people age in place as their needs change. Brewster Parke is licensed by the state, dedicated to giving care with compassion and kindness, and has been helping seniors and their families find supportive living for many years.
