    Welcoming, spotless facility; excellent care

I toured and was immediately struck by warm greetings and a welcoming receptionist - Heather in HR was especially helpful - and by how beautiful and spotless the building is. Nurses, aides and therapists were friendly, skilled and responsive; rehab felt supportive and administration and caregivers clearly dedicated and communicative, which was reassuring about future care. With plentiful amenities, tasty food, active programs and options for independent, assisted and memory care, I'm very pleased and would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Willow Brook at Delaware Run is consistently described as an upscale, well-maintained community with an attractive campus and interior spaces. Cleanliness and a well-organized physical environment are recurring strengths, and reviewers frequently noted a wide range of amenities and a full continuum of care that includes independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The dining program receives positive comments regarding food quality, and holiday and special-event programming contribute to a lively climate.

Clinical and rehabilitative services are generally viewed positively. Multiple accounts highlight knowledgeable nursing and therapy staff, a supportive rehab environment, and caregivers who provide prompt attention to needs. Families and residents praised compassionate staff and dedicated caregivers, and several reviewers singled out administrative and HR staff for professional and helpful interactions, indicating effective leadership in many instances.

Activities and social programming appear robust. Reviewers describe an active calendar with many opportunities for engagement, festive holiday activities, and a friendly resident culture. These elements support an uplifting retirement-community atmosphere and reinforce the facility’s positioning as an organized, amenity-rich option.

Notable patterns of concern center on operations and interpersonal dynamics rather than on the physical plant. There are consistent comments about inconsistent communication with families and between staff, with particular mention of gaps in handoffs and coordination across shifts. Some reviewers also described variability in responsiveness at certain times and expressed perceptions that caregiver assignments are not always equitable. Cost is another recurring theme; several reviewers characterized the community as relatively expensive. A small number of accounts described issues that were later addressed, suggesting the facility may correct problems when escalated, but variability in service and communication quality is something prospective residents and families should evaluate.

Overall, Willow Brook at Delaware Run presents as a clean, well-appointed, and activity-rich community with solid clinical and rehabilitation resources. Prospective residents should balance the facility’s physical and programmatic strengths against operational considerations — particularly communication practices, shift coordination, caregiver-assignment policies, and cost — and may wish to ask specific questions about staffing patterns, family-update protocols, and fee structure during tours and decision-making discussions.

About Willow Brook at Delaware Run

Willow Brook at Delaware Run sits in Delaware, Ohio, at 100 Delaware Crossing W., right off a quiet street with trees, a small stream, and little bridges that make a calm setting, and it offers several ways to live for older adults, whether they're pretty independent or if they need a good amount of help each day. People can choose from independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, skilled rehab, transitional living, or even an adult day program, and the property has homes and apartments with different sizes, some one-, two-, or three-bedroom spaces, and places like the Village Square for independent retirement living.

There's always someone on-site since the community is open all the time, and families can feel secure thanks to safety and handicap features like sprinkler systems and rooms ready for wheelchairs or walkers; rooms also come with private bathrooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers, cable TV, and WiFi, plus housekeepers help keep things tidy. Meals are served every day - there's flexibility in snacks and special diets, and residents can eat at the Water's Edge restaurant, try the Café 100 bistro, or join others in the dining room, which often has a fireplace for a cozy meal, and the menus change, sometimes even with vegetarian options.

The staff follows the "Willow Brook Way," a culture based on respect and care, with a Christ-centered focus, though everyone's welcome, regardless of faith or background, and they're always working on high nursing scores and want residents happy with their care. People can get as much support as they need, like help with daily routines, medication reminders and administration, incontinence care, diabetic care, and medical offices and therapy onsite, and there's personal care assistants, 24-hour nurses, and caregivers who follow each person's care plan. Memory Care gives extra support in private rooms with private baths for residents who need a calm, safe place, and they get activities matched to what helps them feel valued.

Amenities spread out across the campus, and there's a fitness center, library, art studio, billiards room, hobby and activity lounges, and even a model train room, and lawns are always cut, landscaping handled, appliances fixed, and snow's removed before it piles up. People find spots for devotional activities, lounges for social groups, and indoor and outdoor areas to gather; outings get planned for shops or restaurants with a free shuttle bus that helps everyone reach a doctor or run errands around town. For recreation, scheduled health and wellness programs cover everything from fitness to art and crafts, with clubs and events so residents can stay busy, and the common areas are decorated for comfort and appeal.

Healthcare and help run around the clock, and there's always access to services like transportation, laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, meal service, personal care services, and even building insurance for peace of mind. The property works as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC, which means a person can transition from living more independently to getting extra help as they need it, without having to move far. Willow Brook at Delaware Run, operating since 1972 and being part of Willow Brook Christian Communities, also connects with SourcePoint to offer In-Home Care, Nutrition, Community Programs, and activities at the Enrichment Center to help people in different stages of aging. That gives options for those who want to stay in their homes more but still need some help or want to get out for a day.

Some folks might spend time just relaxing in a quiet spot by the stream on the property or join friends for a game in the activities room. Weekly schedules cover laundry, linen service, and cleaning so residents can focus on enjoying each day. Each person gets the care they need in a homelike place meant to treat everyone with respect and offer comfort, whether through medical help, meals together, or just a friendly chat with neighbors or staff around the grounds.
