    Friendly staff, clean rooms, activities

I live at Elmwood and I'm very pleased. The staff - from the amazing Executive Director to the Director of Nursing - are friendly, dedicated, and have long-term experience; the care is fantastic. My room has everything I need, common areas are clean and organized, activities are enjoyable and residents are encouraged to mingle at hosted events (plus a lovely bird cage with colorful birds). Occasional tours keep things lively, costs are reasonable - I would happily recommend Elmwood. Kudos to the whole team.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Elmvue of Elmwood Center present a mixed picture: several comments highlight a clean, orderly physical environment, an active social calendar, and private rooms that meet residents' basic needs, while other feedback raises operational and conduct-related concerns. Positive notes emphasize friendly interactions, meaningful opportunities for residents to mingle and participate in hosted events, and a small on-site aviary that contributes to the community atmosphere. Multiple reviewers also praised leadership at the executive and nursing-director level and described long-term, dedicated caregivers.

Care and staffing assessments are divergent. On one hand, leadership and some caregiving staff are described as experienced, attentive, and providing strong clinical direction. On the other hand, reviewers raised concerns about frontline competency, lapses in infection-control/hand-hygiene practices, and variability in responsiveness to residents' needs. There are also remarks about staff behavior that could affect resident experience, including frequent personal-device use and unprofessional conversations in communal settings. Together these comments suggest variability in training, supervision, or enforcement of workplace standards between leadership and some frontline staff.

Activities and facilities are commonly cited as strengths. The community appears to maintain organized common areas, regular programming that encourages socialization, and occasional tours for visitors. Private rooms and the presence of small features such as a bird habitat were noted positively. There is limited direct commentary about dining quality or meal service continuity in the available summaries, so families should seek specific information about menus, dietary accommodations, and meal routines during a visit.

Management and administrative patterns are another area of divergence. Leadership receives explicit praise from some, while other reviewers perceive a managerial focus on financial and operational metrics at the expense of resident-centered concerns. Related concerns include the handling of complaints and a sense that grievances are not always resolved transparently. Prospective residents and families should clarify staffing levels, staff training programs, infection-control protocols, and the facility's complaint-resolution process during tours and meetings. Overall, Elmvue of Elmwood Center appears to offer a clean, activity-rich environment with capable senior leadership, but the consistency of frontline care practices and administrative responsiveness may vary and merit in-person verification.

    About Elmvue of Elmwood Center

Elmvue of Elmwood Center sits at 222 Academy Street in Green Springs, Ohio, and serves adults needing care for intellectual disabilities and related needs with eight licensed beds, where you'll find a cozy group home setting that's wheelchair friendly with large windows, emergency call systems, and family-style kitchens, and the homes themselves are designed for people using walkers or other devices to get around easily, and you'll notice that staff give help with daily tasks, provide activities, administer medicine, and keep things safe and comfortable. This place holds a Medicaid Certification as an Intermediate Care Facility and is also recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and while Elmvue is operated as part of Elmwood Center Inc., it works in partnership with Wynn Reeth, Inc., which has offered Home & Community Based Services for over a decade, making it possible for people to receive help at home or in residential programs tailored to their abilities and needs. Residents can receive skilled nursing care, advanced therapies like physical, occupational, or speech therapy, and meals or diets planned by a registered dietitian for specific health conditions, and Elmvue covers a whole range from assisted living, memory care, and independent living to specialized options for those who need dementia or Alzheimer's care, and each care plan is personalized according to the resident's situation. The team keeps the required caregiver-to-resident ratio, so everyone gets attention, and people can choose from inpatient or outpatient rehab, day programming, and the Day Springs program, which is a unique habilitation program for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IID), and if a resident needs it, they'll find short-term or respite care options too. Elmvue's services also stretch to in-home support, transportation, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, supported employment, social work, nutritional counseling, interpreter services, and social and recreational activities that help people stay involved in their community and build life skills. The homes have living spaces that feel secure and comfortable, plenty of natural light, and you'll see a real push for supporting independence, social interaction, and personal growth whether it's learning daily living skills or joining in adult day programming. The environment feels friendly and safe, overseen by Executive Director Leslie Frasure, with all license and certification information current with Ohio and Care.com, and overall, Elmvue of Elmwood Center stays focused on letting people with intellectual disabilities keep control over their daily lives, live in supported homes, and stay active in both the home and broader community.
