    Caring staff and excellent therapy

I'm very pleased with this community - staff are caring and attentive, the therapy and activities teams are excellent, and Amber and the DON have been responsive, making the transition smooth. The grounds are attractive, care options are comprehensive, and the family-friendly atmosphere makes it easy to recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for Edgewood Manor of Lucasville present a mixed picture with clear strengths in caregiving and therapy alongside recurring operational weaknesses. Positive accounts highlight a compassionate, attentive nursing team and several longโ€‘tenured staff members who provide continuity of care. Families and residents frequently praise the therapy department, availability of hospice and wound care services, and an activities program described as engaging and varied. The facilityโ€™s grounds and courtyards and a generally familyโ€‘style atmosphere are also noted as appealing features, and leadershipโ€”particularly the director of nursing and specific staff liaisonsโ€”has been characterized as responsive in multiple accounts.

Care quality shows both commendations and concerns. Many families described individualized, attentive care and instances of staff going above and beyond. At the same time, there are repeated indications of inconsistent medication administration and delays in attending to basic personalโ€‘care tasks such as bathing or toileting assistance. There are also references to safety issues during transfers and other mobility assistance, suggesting a need to review transfer protocols and fallโ€‘prevention practices. In several cases, families reported a lack of timely notification after clinical incidents, indicating communication and incidentโ€‘reporting processes could be strengthened.

Staffing and management earn mixed evaluations. Positive feedback emphasizes committed, professional caregivers, effective therapy clinicians, and moments of strong communication from individual advocates. Reviewers who had negative experiences pointed to problematic staff conduct in isolated cases, including harassment and a serious claim involving attempts to access resident finances; these latter issues merit careful investigation by prospective families and by facility management. Another recurring operational gap is assistance with intakeโ€‘related administrative tasks: families noted difficulties with Medicaid or insurance paperwork and inconsistencies recognizing legally designated decisionโ€‘makers, which can complicate transitions and admissions.

Facility condition and housekeeping are areas of divergence. Some reviewers praised attractive outdoor spaces and a pleasant country location, while others described sanitation and odor concerns in specific areas, and noted maintenance problems such as windowโ€‘area mold and heating issues. Personalโ€‘property management also surfaced as a concern (for example, lost personal items during transitions), which suggests that inventory and transfer procedures could be more rigorous.

Dining receives little direct commentary in these summaries; affordability concerns were mentioned, but there is not enough consistent information to draw firm conclusions about meal quality or service. Activities and therapy are clear strengths and are likely to be meaningful contributors to resident quality of life.

Taken together, the pattern suggests this facility can offer strong rehabilitative and personโ€‘centered services when staffing and leadership align, but prospective residents and families should investigate specific operational areas during a tour. Recommended actions for families: ask about current medicationโ€‘administration audits and transferโ€‘safety protocols; request documentation of incidentโ€‘notification procedures; confirm how the facility handles benefits and POA paperwork at intake; observe housekeeping on a tour and ask about ongoing maintenance plans; and ask how personal belongings are inventoried and protected. These steps will help clarify whether the facilityโ€™s strengths are consistently realized for an individual resident.

About Edgewood Manor of Lucasville I

Edgewood Manor Of Lucasville I sits out along Big Bear Creek Road in Lucasville, Ohio, and runs as a Skilled Nursing Facility with 99 beds, handling people who need more care than regular assisted living can offer, and you'll find folks there with various needs, like those who need help with daily living, memory care, long-term stays, or even short-term rehabilitation, and the place accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private pay, and most co-insurance plans, which helps families dealing with costs. The facility serves nutritious meals in a community dining room, has professional chefs, offers all-day dining, and plans menus with options for people with allergies or special dietary needs, plus there's help with feeding, diabetic care, and medication management for those who need it. You'll find both private rooms and common areas set up to feel homelike, with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, Wi-Fi, telephones, air conditioning, and furnishings to keep things comfortable, and the staff handles laundry, housekeeping, concierge services, and makes moving in a bit easier with coordination help. When it comes to getting out and about or just keeping busy, there's a good spread of community spaces like courtyards, walking paths, a veggie garden, activity rooms, a fitness room, a spa/wellness room, and a library, along with gardens for sitting outside and scheduled activities, arts, music programs, offsite trips, and movie nights, so there's always something going on. They pay close attention to care, offering 12-16 hour nursing care, a 24-hour call system, and skilled professionals that oversee not only medication and daily living support but also physical, occupational, and speech therapy, so residents either keep their skills or build them back up, and memory care and secure behavioral health units exist for those who need that kind of extra support, with a memory care unit just for women so they can feel safe and supported, and the staff speaks English and works hard to make things easy to understand and comfortable. Edgewood Manor Of Lucasville I is part of Consulate Health Care and sits within Trustwell Living at Bell Gardens Place, linking it with Lucasville II as a sister facility, and the campus tries to feel welcoming, with a rural setting, indoor and outdoor amenities, and a real focus on compassion and respect, aiming to let every resident feel like they're in a place to both live and get better, whether for a short stay, rehabilitation, long-term care, or memory support, and families will see how care plans get tailored for each person thanks to experienced staff and a team that includes doctors, social workers, and nutritionists who work together on everyday needs, events, or small comforts that matter. They're not accepting new patients at this time, but information changes every month, and if something about the provider directory doesn't look right, they update things and listen to feedback so families have the facts they need.
