I've been very happy here-attentive, compassionate staff who know residents' names and go above and beyond. The spacious, well-appointed apartments, restaurant-style dining with tasty meals, beautiful grounds and plenty of activities make it feel like home. Clean, well-managed and community-focused-I recommend this retirement community.

    Summary of reviews

The Glenwood Community is consistently described as a well-maintained, attractive senior living campus with a strong emphasis on resident-centered care and a robust workplace culture. Reviewers highlight compassionate, knowledgeable caregivers and long-tenured teams who know residents by name and provide readily available assistance. Nursing leadership and on-shift staff are frequently characterized as collaborative and supportive, contributing to a generally positive perception of care quality and resident wellbeing.

Dining and daily living amenities are commonly praised. The facility offers restaurant-style dining with daily specials, a varied menu, and larger food-choice options; many reviewers found the meals flavorful and appropriately portioned. At the same time, there are repeated comments about meal costs for guests and occasional perceptions of small portions or value concerns. Housekeeping, apartment maintenance, and groundskeeping are often described as thorough, and amenities such as a library, hairdresser, exercise classes, transportation, garden plots, and a fishing pond contribute to an active daily life.

Activity programming is another strength: organized crafts, bingo, music, gardening, and social opportunities are widely noted and contribute to a family-like community atmosphere. Reviewers also requested clearer activity descriptions for new residents and more robust weekend programming, indicating a desire for expanded scheduling and better onboarding information about events and opportunities.

Operationally, reviewers raise several recurring concerns. Some report delays in staff responsiveness and moments when staff appear stressed or short-staffed. Communication between departments and with families can be inconsistent, and the absence of a dedicated single staff liaison for some residents has been noted as a coordination gap. Practical issues such as navigation challenges in a multi-level layout, localized carpeting and sanitation concerns in certain common areas, and laundry organization shortcomings were described. Billing and charge transparency were also raised as a source of confusion in some accounts.

Overall, The Glenwood Community presents as a high-quality, resident-focused provider with many programmatic strengths and a strong internal culture of caregiving. Prospective residents and families should weigh the demonstrated strengths in care, amenities, and staff stability against operational considerations such as communication practices, weekend activity availability, some cleanliness and laundry organization gaps, and cost structure. One review included an allegation regarding management trustworthiness; while most feedback is positive about leadership and workplace culture, that concern suggests it may be prudent to seek direct clarification on billing, communication protocols, and escalation pathways during a tour or admissions discussion.

    About The Glenwood Community

The Glenwood Community sits at 200 Timberline Drive in Marietta, Ohio, on a quiet 70-acre wooded campus with tall old trees and a calm pond you can see from some of the walking paths, and folks there say the grounds are peaceful with places to just sit outside when the weather's good or wander down the paved trails if someone wants a little outside time. The place has apartments and cottage homes for independent living, and they've got assisted living options through programs like Pines at Glenwood where residents can get help with daily things such as getting dressed, bathing, grooming, or remembering to take medicine and there's a smaller home-like feel since the main assisted living area is licensed for six residents, so things don't get too busy and crowded and people often know each other's names. Folks with more advanced care needs, memory loss or dementia have the Memory Care program, while those who might need skilled nursing or rehab after a hospital stay can use the on-site services without having to move out. They also help families with respite and hospice needs as things change.

Staff have office hours on weekdays from morning until late afternoon, while the community center welcomes visitors on weekends in the early afternoon, and no matter the time, someone from the care team is around if residents need help-whether it's personal care, finding the right book, or thinking up the next group activity for the calendar, which tends to stay full of things from board games and music plans to animal therapy visits, art events, and even exercise groups and outdoor relaxation times when the weather allows. Residents often use the fitness center or sauna and jacuzzi, spend quiet time in the book room, or get a haircut from the on-site salon or stylist, and there are usually movie nights, craft plans, or evening events in the common spaces or game rooms. Folks have private rooms with lots of natural light, carpeting, and safety features, and there's housekeeping, meal preparation with daily chef-inspired healthy food in the dining room, plus transportation for shopping or outings into downtown Marietta, where historic sites and restaurants aren't too far off. For those who need it, staff can design exercise programs, help with medical reminders, or bring in IV therapy and hospice services as needed, and residents can get support with things like Medicaid, Medicare, and finding help to pay their energy bills or make homes safer.

The Glenwood Community connects older adults and families with resources and programs like PASSPORT Medicaid Waiver Help, Assisted Living Waiver Help, and gives information about using insurance, selling property, or veterans' benefits to help cover care costs, so families have a lot of support figuring everything out. There are lots of public spaces for socializing and enjoying time together, and the community is small-pet friendly in many apartments. The campus runs on a faith-inspired foundation with a chaplain, and the whole place is SAGECare certified to welcome and support LGBTQ+ seniors, and staff get training to make sure everyone feels comfortable. Glenwood is known by the Ohio Assisted Living Association and works with local leaders to help make the community better, not just for residents but for the whole town. With its programs, support, and simple, caring approach, it aims to provide a safe, courteous, and comfortable place for older adults, whether someone wants a busy social calendar, peace and quiet, or just a bit of help now and then as they age.
