    Compassionate, professional care with dignity

I chose this family-owned facility for rehab and long-term care and was very pleased. The staff are compassionate and professional - nursing felt family-like, Nurse Kelly and Heather's therapy team delivered strong rehab results, and administration was responsive and attentive. The building is clean and safety-conscious, offers plenty of activities and amenities (salon, common rooms), and provided dignified, comforting end-of-life care - I'm grateful and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for O'Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville present a polarized picture: many families and residents describe high-quality, compassionate care from nurses, aides, and therapy teams, while others report operational shortfalls that affect daily living. Strengths repeatedly noted include attentive nursing, effective physical therapy and rehabilitation programs, a range of activities and amenities (salon, library, outings), and a warm, family-oriented atmosphere—particularly in memory-care and end-of-life situations where staff sensitivity and communication were praised.

However, a consistent theme among critical accounts is variability in staffing and responsiveness. Reviewers indicate uneven staffing levels across shifts, slow response times to call lights and requests, and irregular bathing and incontinence-care schedules. These operational gaps are frequently tied to perceptions of inadequate training or inconsistent conduct among some direct-care staff. A small number of serious individual incidents were described; such accounts underscore concerns about staff supervision and the need for clearer accountability processes.

Facility condition and maintenance also show mixed reports. Some visitors find common areas clean and well-kept, while others report sanitation concerns and housekeeping inconsistencies in resident rooms and carpeting, as well as maintenance issues such as HVAC failures, leaking toilets, and accessibility shortcomings in some bathrooms. Infection-control performance was another area of variability: there are mentions of COVID-related restrictions and other infection events that families felt were handled inconsistently.

Dining and activities are generally seen as positive contributors to resident quality of life, with home-style meals, social events, and active recreation programs often highlighted. That said, meal quality and the reliability of dietary accommodations were described as uneven by several families. Discharge planning, coordination with physicians, and billing or administrative communications also emerged as pain points for some—delays in paperwork, inconsistent visitation policies during infection-control periods, and billing disputes were cited.

Overall, the facility appears to deliver very good care in specific units, during certain shifts, and from particular staff members, while operational weaknesses—especially around staffing consistency, housekeeping, maintenance, and administrative follow-through—create variability in resident experience. Prospective residents and families should arrange an in-person visit, ask targeted questions about staffing ratios, call-response times, housekeeping and laundry protocols, infection-control processes, maintenance schedules, and discharge coordination, and observe conditions on multiple shifts to assess consistency before deciding.
