    Comfortable cottage-style home, fair pricing

I toured this remodeled, cottage-style home and immediately felt at ease - warm, clean, and very home-like. With about a dozen residents, private rooms, LPN oversight and an on-site night caregiver, the compassionate, professional staff deliver personalized, dignified care; I'd be comfortable moving him there, and the $2,400-$3,600/month range seems fair.

    Summary of reviews

Starkey Place presents as a small, cottage-style assisted living option with a strong emphasis on a home-like environment and individualized attention. Multiple reviews emphasize the facility’s warm, relaxed atmosphere, private rooms, and recently remodeled interior; families often describe the setting as comfortable and intimate. The facility’s scale (approximately a dozen residents) supports personalized routines and frequent face-to-face contact with staff.

Care quality and staffing are described in largely positive terms where residents have lower-care needs. Reviewers highlight compassionate, professional nursing and caregiving staff, dignity-preserving interactions, and hands-on management—leadership presence is cited as a strength. The facility is overseen by licensed nursing personnel and has an on-site caregiver during night hours; reviewers convey that the staffing ratio is generally adequate for residents who do not require high-acuity care.

At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns that prospective families should evaluate. Cleanliness and odor concerns appear in some accounts and represent a tangible sanitation issue to verify during a visit. Several reviewers raise questions about the facility’s administrative professionalism and business practices; these comments suggest variability in management responsiveness and business administration. The home’s physical layout includes steps to each room, which creates limited accessibility for residents who use wheelchairs or have significant mobility impairments. The small size that contributes to a family atmosphere also constrains the facility’s capacity to support higher-dependency needs or extensive clinical services.

Dining and formal activities are not described in detail across the reviews; impressions lean toward individualized care and a relaxed daily routine rather than a robust program of group activities or institutional meal service. Price indications in the reviews place private-pay rates in the approximate range of $2,400–$3,600 per month; prospective residents should confirm current fees and what services are included.

In summary, Starkey Place is likely to suit individuals and families prioritizing a home-like, small-community setting with attentive, compassionate caregivers and private rooms. It may be less appropriate for those requiring wheelchair access or higher-acuity clinical support. Recommended next steps for families: schedule an in-person tour focused on sanitation practices and odor control, review detailed staffing levels and clinical oversight (including night coverage), confirm emergency and medication-management protocols, and request references from current families to better gauge administrative consistency.

    About Starkey Place Assisted Living

Starkey Place Assisted Living sits in Ohio, licensed for up to 12 seniors, and offers a home-like environment with staff who know about the needs of older adults and focus on giving personalized care, and you'll find private rooms in a group home setting, which helps residents feel cozy and comfortable because it's not too big and noisy, and people can get to know each other easier. The community gives assisted living services for folks who need help with daily activities like bathing, grooming, getting dressed, bathroom use, and keeping up with medications, as well as incontinence care and support for those who have trouble walking or getting around, so there's always someone available, day or night. There's memory care for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, with a secure area to keep residents safe, memory-friendly activities, and thoughtful care plans to help cut down on confusion and wandering. Starkey Place offers special meals made fresh every day, three times daily, and can adjust food for people with diabetes or high blood pressure, with the focus on nutrition and good taste, and the staff can help anyone who needs extra attention with eating. You'll also find a variety of amenities like a book room, jacuzzi, sauna, fitness room, and garden areas, and someone comes in to do hair or styling, which helps residents keep up their routines. Starkey Place runs scheduled programs each day, offering movies, games, music and animal therapy, exercise, and even outings; there's space indoors and out for recreation, so people stay active and get sunshine when they want. There's transportation available for medical appointments, shopping, and spiritual services, and the community has parking for those who use their own vehicles. It also offers hospice care, adult day services, Medicare-certified home health care, board and care, and respite care for those who need just a short stay. The whole place operates with a focus on safety, independence, and comfort, with modern features to help people live with as much freedom as possible, and staff always nearby to lend a helping hand or just keep company. Starkey Place does accept private pay, long-term care insurance, and Veterans Aid and Attendance, so there can be some flexibility in how residents pay for their care. Staff pay close attention to creating a supportive and friendly atmosphere, and many people notice how welcoming they are, which can mean a lot when someone's moving away from their home. Residents get specialized care plans, supportive companions, and the chance to join in on activities, and, all in all, the place is really suited for seniors who can't live on their own anymore and need that mix of help and independence, but in a setting that feels a bit like home.
